I'm curious on your thoughts as a Canadian. I watched the full parliamentary debates (thus far) on the motion to confirm the Emergency Act's use to clear Ottawa, and there's a hyper divide between stories of both sides, conservatives claiming almost criminal incompetence by the PM, liberals claiming extremist insurrectionists among the truckers, NDP claiming both of those stories are true, and Green party claiming that each party members' words don't quite match with actual history, events, or the Emergency Act. How do you decide what to believe?

I live just a few kilometres away from Ottawa. Most of us in Canada have had enough of this “freedom convoy”. Those guys do NOT speak for me. They claim they want freedom. When was I ever oppressed?
Here in the US, we have multiple states setting up tip lines and databases to monitor pregnant women, 37 states busting ass to restrict voting, and some asshole from New Hampshire "jokingly" floated the idea of repealing the 19th (that's the one where women got the vote). @@leandabee Yeah. Like, there was a BLM protest in 2020 in my city. I was running errands and had no idea. They like walked around a block, on the sidewalk, with some signs. We've had tons of protests before in my city. They walk around with signs down town, sometimes they might chant. No big deal. Nothing ever happens. If you don't like it it's generally gone in ten-fifteen minutes anyways. Their whole walk probably takes like half an hour to an hour from first person to last to get from one end of downtown to the other.
Those losers show up and they're hindering traffic, making all sorts of noise for like 12 fucking hours. Just being obnoxious and annoying because they're just so, worthless. They think that honking for half a day is the same thing as having the support of the majority of people. One supporter I talked to was like "I must have seen 2,000 people," and it's like, so what? We have nearly 70,000 people in the city alone, that's not adding in the county and the towns within it. That's like 3% of the population, like half of the "supporters" were children dragged there by their parents, and you had to import people to join your "protest."

@@howardkerr8174 English is "cool" in Japan for the same reason tattoos of Chinese characters are "cool" in America. Except most Japanese can read English, even if only barely, due to it being taught in school while most Americans can't read Chinese.
It's also more likely to get picked up by an international audience and be noticed around the world. If it were written in Japanese, we probably wouldn't be hearing about it.

I was coming to the comments to see if someone pointed out that in Genesis 9 God promised he wouldn't destroy the world again...at least, not with a flood. Next time it will probably be a horrific disease. :>
Well, there are plenty of historical evidence for some type of extreme flood in ancient times, so the tale of Noah might have some truth to it, yes.. like Gilgamesh being a great warrior or Jesus being an amazing thinker, sometimes mythical tales are based on real stories, just hyperbolized, misinterpreted and sometimes purposefully altered to serve the Catholic church..
One of my favorites real stories from the bible is the opening of the red sea, it's entirely possible, even plausible, you'd just need strong wind, the underwater terrain would do the rest in creating a bridge to an island nearby and I think it's awesome that it might've really happened and that we kept this tale alive even if attached to a mystical explanation

Especially when you remember that “the entire world” back in pre-history was from one hill top to the other hill top of the river valley every culture started in. And that the river flooding its banks is a seasonal occurrence (literally, the agriculture at the time depended on it doing so), and that it could have flooded partially high in any given year. And oral tradition, literally being a generations-long game of telephone, means things can easily get exaggerated. (I’m sure the dragon in Beowulf was totally legit.)

Remember evidence of floods happening is not evidence of one gigantic flood happening. Just because cultures have seen floods in history does not mean those floods were anything other than what floods are now: localized meteorological events.
Let's also not forget that just because you can imagine a mechanical structure in which something might have happened, is no evidence that it in any way, shape or form ever did happen. That's not how evidence works, that's just the hypothesis without the testing.
