I’m in my mid fourties and we were being taught about global warming when I was in elementary school way back in the early 80’s. They’re well aware that their country committed atrocities and as such are incredibly cautious about doing absolutely anything aggressive on an international scale. They know what “Germany is invading/German weapons are rolling in” means to most people, so they’ve kind of backed off. Which one could take as a sign of just how messed up the Ukrainian invasion is, I suppose.

I have asked myself the same question, I mean, since they're classified shouldn't the docs NEVER leave the National Archives for security reasons?

When I was in school over 55 years ago we went on a class trip to the Hayden Planetarium. Inside there was a huge globe, bigger than me, with lights representing human population over time. It started out with a few lights in Africa and then spread to the present time (1966?) then went on to project the future population. It didn't take long until the globe was one huge light. I saw the writing on the wall right then and will never forget it. If we continue on the road we are on it's good night Irene.

There is a different process in the Legislature v. the Executive, maybe there should not be, but the Legislature never gets possession of the documents, they get to look at them when necessary. There is a courier (MIL/IC) that is in charge of them. Were a Senator or Representative to have these documents outside of the SCIF then they would have stolen them by default.
Having said that I do not know what the process was in the 1980s, which is part of the claims against Fuck Joe Biden. I heard that old Senate docs were in the collection, I don't know if that is true. Post 9/11 though, post Manning, post Snowden, post Panama papers, post Pandora papers... the best description of what we are experiencing is over-classification of documents. I had that problem when I created docs, it is not going to be solved by the people doing it, this is a legislative issue.
You want your country's secrets to remain secret (from enemies) so any reference to any other thing has to factor in the secretiness of that while also allowing for your population to know stuff, and we do not have an Americans only news option where you present your National ID and you get to discuss more detailed info. That is part of what makes America great, comparatively, we share a fuckton of info w/ our people, colleagues, and counterparts... sometimes this is detrimental.

So let's not crave for the days of low/poor information with no alternatives and the days when a banned book was actually banned because you had no other way to get it.
Germans are giving 14 Leopard 2 and also allowed other countries to give their Leopards as well, so other countries of Europe are going to give tanks and Ukraine might get around 100 tanks by counting the countries that already stated that they are willing to provide tanks
Initially, more will follow. We don't have them laying about, to be gifted to other countries. Better late than never I suppose.
The real game-changer is the Leopard logistical network in the EU. Ukraine's running-out of ammo for their Soviet tanks, and, for obvious reasons, Putin's not big on selling them any more. The Leopard 2, on the other hand, makes up almost half the MBTs in Europe, and the EU, consequently, is drowning in ammo, spare parts, mechanical equipment, etc. to support them. The switch will both solidify Ukraine's move from the Russian orbit to the Western one and even further exacerbate the differences in logistical capability between Putin and Ukraine that are already seeing Ukraine push the fascist invader back step-by-step.
@@dennis141288 Kinda do, actually. A lot of the Leopards being sent immediately are the older models (eg. 2A4s), as the Leopard 2 is almost 40 years old. But you're right that more and more of the modern variants will also begin to flow as the switch continues, and those are, I think, going to be absolute hell for Putin. Russian materiel may still be actually near-peer on paper and possibly in reality, but their ability to use it properly is obviously nearly non-existent. NATO front-line MBTs in the hands of the well-trained, -supported, and -motivated NATO-style army of post-Putin Ukraine seem like they have an excellent chance of putting-on a real masterclass in modern warfare.
In a way, this is yet another example of how Putin seems to be NATO's best agent. The data gathered here will be invaluable, and it comes right as NATO nations are looking to move to the next gen of MBTs (eg Abrams X in US, Leopard 3 or maybe the KF-51 Panther with its monstrous 130mm cannon in Germany, Challenger 3 in the UK, etc), which means that they've a lot of existing MBTs looking for a use other than expensive storage or the scrapyard.
