  • Here's the long awaited tuning video you guys have been asking for. Btw I later realized, some maps I showed in the video were from an older saved session. They are slightly off from what the engine is actually running on right now.

    “...I’ve been really lazy...” says the guy who has engineered and built a race car in his garage by himself. Not to mention document the entire process. I think the patrons will understand if you wait till the end to update the panel. Great work. It makes me miss the FSAE team at TN Tech when I was in eng. school.

    The only thing I can think from this is that you could probably gain quite a bit of top end by getting a cast LS intake manifold, chopping the plenum off of it and putting it on your runners. In my experience, I know my engine would breathe better up top with a bigger plenum volume than I have, but I went with one with dual runners instead to get a bit better spool. (4g64) This for sure works though, but i'm sure you're always trying to think of ways to make things better. If you're concerned about fitting the throttle body, what a lot of CTS-V guys do and I'm sure others as well is move the throttle body out farther, so there will be an elbow off of the mainfold and the throttle body sits down lower to let the intake clear the hood on those cars.

    • @MrHBSoftware
      @MrHBSoftware 4 года назад +1

      i also agree that valve overlap and agressive cams are used in NA cars...also head porting doesnt make much difference in a forced induction car while on a NA car is the key to good power

      @ReubenHorner 4 года назад

      And valve lift goes up with "bigger" cams

    • @mike3684
      @mike3684 4 года назад

      @@ReubenHorner Often times the school of thought when building an engine, specific for forced induction, is having the Exhaust valve lift 10% or so greater than what you would build an NA engine at. Secondly, the greater the valve overlap, the more boost pressure is sent into the exhaust and isn't then used during the power stroke. NA engines and Boosted engines work on fundamentally different principles to optimize the basic cycles of a 4 stoke engine. The continuous flow created by overlap is adventurous when exploiting fluid flow of a vacuum operated induction. However, getting that valve closed and the cylinder pressure up (assuming proper F/A) is the name of the game for boosted engines; valve overlap vents that pressure.

    • @Conservator.
      @Conservator. 4 года назад

      Boost is always regulated in turbo engines. Usually by opening a valve that let part of the exhaust gasses by-pass the turbo(‘s). Some turbo’s have movable vanes that direct the exhaust airflow.
      So boost is raised by opening such a valve at a higher pressure. On modern cars these valves are controlled by the ECU (As opposed to by a spring).
