Hii why dont you just swap the automated 350z manual for a BMW DCT TRANS. That way you have truly lighting fast shifts and you don't need any air compressor an such excess components.

    • @CP110
      @CP110 3 года назад +9

His AEM infinity ecu doesn't have the capability to control a dct trans. Plus building one to handle the torque his twin turbo v8 produces would be expensive. A manual transmission with dog teeth should be just as fast. And weigh much less. Also take into consideration that It's hard to beat the affordability, strength, and ease of procurement of a Cd009. New they are only 1800.

I have one of those transmissions in my E92 335i... I've had to drop nearly £2000 on a new Mechatronics unit... So if you keep on top of the servicing, then they truly are an incredible transmission! The Getrag GS7D36SG is the same as the DCT that's in the E92 M3 and they can take a LOT of power. Mine is running 402 bhp (at the wheels) and I've had no issues whatsoever. (Mechatronics unit died before the remap, intake, charge pipe, intercooler WMI and exhaust was done)

And don't use launch control... That's what fucked my mech unit.

As an aircraft and part time race builder, this car has huge potential but you will be plagued with continued reliability issues until you button up all the lose ends. Your hoses should be positively locked so they cant blow off, worm type hose clamps are useless under race conditions.
Go over the whole car and look for failure points because if untended they will bite you when you least expect, costing you results and trophy's!
Dry sump for sure, because as you get quicker the G on the oil will increase and you will shortly exceed the limits of the sump and you know what comes next.
Scrub pads on the floor to allow for floor bottoms as the down force climbs with your soon to be achieved faster laps times.
Tools and spare parts check list? Oil, coolant, fluids, ignition parts, hoses, various spares etc?
Lastly please consider the cabin ergonomics in case of a crash. I see a lot of sharp edges there that could be rounded, tied back, add padding, or removed all together. wear race gloves. No one wants to crash but the probability is high in this sport!
Love the channel, keep it up, stay reliable and stay safe.

don't use antifreeze on the racetrack use water and a bottle of waterwetter. Antifreeze is very slippery, it is like oil when you slide through it and doesn't dry up as fast as water, there is a reason they don't allow it in many race series and even some tracks have banned it. In fact at this very racetrack I slid through some nsx's spilled antifreeze and destroyed my header going off. So they should just ban it from race events already. Seem either You are not actually an engineer or at best someone with an engineering technology degree or student.
Am actually a very experienced engineer, high level development expertise as mathematician, scientist [physics, chemistry], and high level engineering design, development, testing, verification, etc.
This fellow, who also drives this E55 does speak somewhat like an engineer, but with more details seen during several videos, he also seems to be either an engineering technology student or may have such a degree, and more than a mechanic, perhaps an associate engineer and auto enthusiast.
An actual engineer uses CAD for every aspect of design, development, verification, testing prior to any build.
Such the Chevy Corvette C8 was developed along with many other versions prior and other vehicles of this millennium, by all manufactures.
But, the public is still mostly unaware of the design, development, verification, testing process that has existed for all my years of major designs, for over 40 years. Especially since the mid 1980s [1984-5], all components were designed, developed, verified, tested using CAD, simulations, without a prototype and further develop required. The first actual build works properly according to the design, precisely. The further use of CAD for entire systems or an entire vehicle, came about using the same CAD, with some further development, as computer processing improved, with the following years.
The military aircraft developed during the 1980's were completed using this design, development process beginning with the Northrup F-20 Tigershark [independently developed; not accepted - SADLY, nor their superior F-23 (which had much of their technology developments from the F-20, with many improvements as required]
The commercial aircraft of the updated Boeing 747-400 and MD-11 [of CD-10] were done via CAD, especially the avionics, and testing [one manufacture-Sperry, Tuscon, AZ developed the same set of advanced avionics for both aircraft; thus basically duplicates with the variations of some signals, wiring, firmware for each aircraft.
Such advanced avionics was already designed, developed, in use with updated F-14, 15, 16, 18, 101, and other types of military aircraft including C-130, helicopters, etc.
The process seen in these videos seem enjoyable for the viewer, but are extremely inefficient, ineffective and very outdated.
The actual engineering teams for automobile, engine, transmission, other components, manufactures and racing teams of from the mid 1960's onward into the 1980's were more exact, precise, accurate, efficient, proper than seen by this fellow during these videos.
Am not at all clear or certain who is paying him to develop this E55, nor exactly what level of schooling he has, but, it does seems to be like a fun, enjoyable, learning project for a rather beginner, and high school maybe an introductory local community college level [but still very lacking the necessary design tools.
How can anyone with basic mechanics knowledge, not have brought all of the necessary basic tools, parts, fluids including a computer for viewing logged data, adjustments, etc. ??!!
Clearly, this fellow lacks some basics.
      Sincerely

I'll say it again, something is off with the suspension, the visibly low mechanical grip, you can see how the tyres are jumping around and loose road contact, thats also why the tyres wont heat up.

@@bilaltariq7819 Certified car mechanic since 20 years, about the same time in sim racing and highly interested in motorsport. Again, im no suspension guru but i do understand a thing or two about suspension geometry and car setups.
We the viewers can only watch the video and make guesses from there and thats all i did.
Its pretty clear something is not working, he has no grip in low speed corners and you can see how the car is bouncing and jumping so i assumed thats the reason for his tyres not heating up.
But as he said himself in the comment above these tyres are made for heavier cars, so they are probably a litttle bit harder in compound but mainly in the construction and sidewall strengths because its made for higher forces of a heavier car.
This explains the bouncing of the tyres (unsprung mass that normaly would help damping and now it doesnt or much less) because the tyres absorb less bumps and the suspension (that bottomed out in the last video) has to do much more work.
Makes all sense. So we will see how the car performs when he switches back to the other tyres he used before.

SIR! To get heat into the tires, don't "weave" on straights at safe speeds.
For front heat It's much more effective to agressively turn too much on longer sweepers at higher speeds and hold the car understeering through as much of the corner as possible. The car won't do anything unexpected, my promise and the fronts will gain alot of heat.
It might be counter-intuitive to do these aggressive moves with the steering at high speed, but it works like magic and is very safe if you are comfortable with holding understeer line.

who goes to the track in a car like that and doesn't take spare fluids and the tuning laptop??? As far as improving your laptimes and getting the tires up to temp It would make a huge difference if you didn't brake so early! if you never struggle to keep the car on the track going into a corner you're not trying hard enough! Just winding you up I can't tell from the video but I always found for me the quickest way to find the limit was to try too hard then dial it down a bit? I'm not that great on a track but I always was stunned by how late the really fast guys could brake
