Am schimbat plăcute la Octavia 4 și a mers perfect! E foarte bun video! Eu am mai rotit manual , in sensul acelor de ceasornic,de bolțul ce intra in motoraș.
Great video thanks for the help doing this job. One to watch for if your car has high mileage or lots of corrosion like mine. I managed to snap one of the bolts which holds the parking brake servo motor to the caliper. I suggest soaking from both sides with penetrant spray 1st before loosening.
Thanks for the info. I actually thought it was a "normal" torx, but now I can see it isn´t. I told my friend that I could change the brakes on his Passat if he wanted me to, however it means that I will have to purchase new tools 😞
Great video, this is going to help me a lot. Just an idea that would make it even better... would be good if at the start you could list all the tools and sizes required for the job.
I found out that the disc can be removed and remounted without unscrewing the calipermount! This makes a big difference since those bolts can get stuck hard!
I confirm that it is indeed easy to remove the disk without unmounting the calipermount! (at least on my Passat B8 110kW 2.0 TDI from 2016, Brake "1KU" or FNc-M42 (16"), 300mm disk). Also I'd recommend to use VCDS/OBDeleven/etc. to open the electric parking brake - this way it is not necessary to unmount the electric motor before pushing the brake piston back into the brake caliper. In summary I had just to - put the electric motor in service position (open) - remove the spring - unscrew both 7mm hexagon sockets screws to remove the brake caliper from the brake pads - unscrew the little Torx on the brake disk - push back the brake piston (for this I opened the compensation reservoir of the brake fluid) - mount everything back - close the electric motor
Followed this procedure today, thought it went great until I tried to drive the vehicle. Brakes all work fine and so does the electric handbrake but the car is displaying all faults with the braking system and is running rough and stalling. Any ideas what has gone wrong?

What is the 12 sides torx type tool for removing the brake caliper carrier. I hit this problem before where i did not have that tool to change disc. Whats the tool called?
so you will need 14. I don't know exactly what it's called, but if you want I can leave you a link with a kit and from there you can search for more details.
Hi,I tried to do the same today and I almost made it but I couldn't push the pistons all the way in and I couldn't push the pads.Does anyone know how to do it properly?Thank you
if you take off the electric motor that actuates the brake piston, you will not break anything, however I do not know if the brake piston is pushed by normal pressing or only pressing and turning at the same time. in my case as you saw in the video everything was normal and I used this method many times on different cars in the VAG group
Warning! Please do not Do it with out vcds did it same way 1 year ago and the hand brakes weren't really fully disingadged and the pads lasted only 7 months and my left handbrake doesn't engage fully.
probably has absolutely nothing to do with vcds, more likely there is another problem, like a rusted piston that gets stuck, chrome seems to be very thin on these, so once they start rusting from the dust cover groove, it goes quickly, in my case I serviced all 4 corners and everything was fine, pistons moved freely when I put the new discs and pads on, yearly inspection brake test was perfect, but after the winter I had first one seize in the front, lots of rust behind dust cover, then a month later one of the rear ones also, but that one "fixed" itself after few km when I actuated the hand brake a few times, when I took that one apart - same issue - heavy rust starting from the dust cover groove on the piston they use loads of salt on roads here in winter, and usually the weather is around 0 for most of the winter, so everything is rusting like crazy...
Great work! Only one remark, to replace rotor no need to dismount brake pads holder on rear wheels 😊 for b8 passat.
Hi, good remark and do not you know if is necessary to dismount brake's electric motor for pushing brake piston?

for anyone like me searching, the 12 point torx looking thing is an m14 (14mm) triple spline, also named triple square or xzn tamper

Just turn the pin that is rotated by the motor in the right direction to retract the piston. If you push it without rotating it you can damage it.
Is it possible to perform this procedure without ‘opening’ the brake?
