Bioshock 1 would you kindly still has to number one for me. The build up to it is just insane and it completely makes you rethink the entire game up until then.
Spec Ops was a game we really weren’t ready for. The only issues were it’s somewhat meh gameplay but literally everything else felt so much bigger. Great setting, plot, plot twist, the way the game lulls you in until all of a sudden you begin to feel the weight of your mistakes. Such a gem

For the rest of my life I will remember the iconic line of WOULD YOU KINDLY? Considering how it’s not only one of the best plot twists in gaming but how it’s from one best games ever made
Bioshock’s twist still hits the same 15 years later. I can only hope that same feeling gets shared with more people once the movie comes out; I truly hope whoever is at the helm of that project does it justice

I figured it out early because I play all my games with subtitles on. Anytime Tyr talks in the game there’s no accent above his name. But any other time he’s referenced there’s an accent above his name. Initially I thought it was an error, but the more I thought about it, I realized the writers and developers were too smart to let such a simple error pass, so I became suspicious that Tyr wasn’t Tyr. Still a fantastic reveal though. I absolutely loved the game.
Mines is arkham city when clayface posed as joker and i wasn't paying attention when joker was putting on his lipstick during the cutscene because I thought that was a mirror the whole time and i questioned how joker miraculously looks fine after all that titan formula business in arkham asylum
Resident Evil Series - Finding out Wesker was really working for Umbrella the whole time, but also playing them until he could find a way to Rule The World.
@@ryanmonostori9306yes and no one the one hand it’s a semi interesting plot twist the problem is resident evil is about science so it needs to leave the whole magic thing alone
I think Shepherds betrayal hurts more in the Modern Warfare 2 Remake, because after he shoots Ghost and Roach, Roach grips his arm as if he’s silently asking “why?” Shepherd simply shrugging his hand off with a look of disgust on his face and walking away made me want to put an end to him so badly.
I feel obligated to add the oft overlooked Legacy of Kain series. The twist in Blood Omen that Kain is, in fact, the Guardian of Balance and would have to kill himself to restore the Pillars was great but the one that really stuck with me was the conclusion at the end of Soul Reaver 2 that the spirit that had been inhabiting the Soul Reaver and was now bound to Raziel was, and always had been, him. It's a bit predictable if you're paying attention but still, finding out that the weapon you've been weilding for 2 solid games is actually your own mad Soul twinned and bound eternally to you making you a walking talking paradox was truly an epic one. Amy Hennig is truly a master storyteller.
For me, the biggest plot twist of any game I have played is from Metal Gear Solid 1 whom the man we thought was Master Miller was in actual fact Liquid Snake in disguise, tricking his own brother into activating Metal Gear and then trying to kill him with it.
There are a lot of Plot twists in Elden ring. Too many that the story itself is confusing. Also I played too much pokemon made me less to think that Red was a Plot twist😂😂😂 Also In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Proffesor Sada/Turo were actually dead at the end was a good twist
Those freaking dragons in Chrono Cross screwing me over really broke my brain back in the day. You basically have to spend all of disk 2 fixing what you accidentally broke in disk 1 thinking you were helping the good guys.
Missing the big twist in Nier Replicant. Learning that the shades you were fighting throughout the whole game were actually the original humans, and that the shadowloard is actually the boy at the very beginning of the game changes the whole meaning and perspective of the playthrough.
Feel like soul reavers is worth a mention......apart from having one of the best story's ever written...the twist with raziel at the end of soul reaver 2 is brilliantly done
I got a soft spot for Persona 5's twist. We're tricked into thinking Joker was killed, but the Phantom Thieves outsmarted the so-called killer. Great presentation.
Call of Duty Black Ops. Through out the campaign you play as Mason fighting along side Resnoz. Turns out Resnoz died in Russia during your escape and it was Mason along killing everyone.
I hope they do, honestly. I love Aerith and it would be hard to see her die again, but I’d much rather they stay faithful to the original story instead of doing something nee
Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem deserves a shout out… Beat the game 3x defeating each God individually only to find out the God you were working for was manipulating the bloodline over centuries so he could be free and have no competition (Shadow of the Colossus walked a similar line)
Given the ending song, GLaDOS did *not* actually delete Caroline. She transferred her old persona out, likely into a personality core, so she'd have a companion.
The Haythem Kenway twist shook me. Ubi did a great job doing that and set the stage for a solid game. They needed to shake things up at this point and even though I was excited to play as Haythem as an Assassin, having my mind blown like that made me on edge for the rest of the game wondering what else they were going to pull! * The end of RDR 1 straight PISSED me off. We fought through way more bad guys in the game and came out alive yet they take it away like that? Eff you Rockstar. It still pisses me off to this day lol. To play THAT much only for THAT to happen? Hell naw. Great game - piss off ending IMO. ESPECIALLY since the mission to get closure isn't even mentioned anywhere on the map after the end credits roll and you're playing as Jack. * Spec Ops was a head job through and through. Great game and it does a great job messing with you all the way. Having Nolan North VA this also didn't hurt :) * MGS 2 in of itself was a mind job. I loved every minute of it. I was a bit surprised and disappointed that I didn't play as Snake as much, but still dove head first into all of the dialogue and story! Plus, it looked and sounded amazing on the PS2. I'm not the only one who giggled when I learned I could shoot the fruit and slip on seagull crap lol! * I didn't see Sheps betrayal coming. I was legit stunned with my mouth open. * If you guys didn't have Would you Kindly as number one, I would seriously question your team's gaming chops. This was expected, but mandatory. Carry on.
Glados being Caroline is great bit of story and a twist. And a portal is one of my favorite games of all time. But even i think this has nothing, absolutely NOTHING in being at 6th place of greatest plot twists in gaming. And this is not only example on the list.
Fun fact: In God of War Ragnarok, when you turn on the subtitles, you noticed the subtitle for Tyr is changing color, meaning it's Odin who disguised as Tyr.
The greatest video game twist for me came from conker live and reloaded where one second you're storming the beaches of Normandy, The next second you were fighting the xenomorph from alien, and then you fought the great mighty poo.
Four plot twists that i thought were pretty good were from the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise. (spoiler warning) 1. Dickson's betrayal in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The reveal of Zanza in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The reveal of Klaus in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 4. The revelation of the queens of Agnus and Keves being robots in Xenoblade Chronicles 3
I’m not sure who noticed but for GoW Ragnarok, when someone refers to Tÿr it’s spelled like this. But when Odin talks as the fake Tyr it doesn’t have the special characters above the Y. The game gave you a small subtle clue to him being an imposter
I think it was implied in Doom (2016), but it is confirmed in Doom Eternal that the new games were not a reboot series, rather they were direct sequels to the original games, and the player character is the same Doomguy from them, too.
Kind of surprised you didn't talk about Undertales Flowey twist talking to the player....The player learning that Flowey could also reset and when he appears to talk to the player and make the player think about their choices. Fourth wall breaking.
Actually quite surprised the reveal of the Flood from Halo: Combat Evolved isn't here. It turned a Call Of Duty in space game into a zombie survival game in one cutscene. Not to mention the reveal about what the titular Halo really is.
13:15 Imo, Odin being Tyr all this time was more of a disappointment rather than a good plot twist. Mainly because the real Tyr still exists in the game as a mediocre side quest and that just hurts the story even more. Just my opinion, don't attack me and yes I have finished the game.
Here's another plot twist, SPOILERS, obviously down below Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean - There was a traitor in the party. It was the main protagonist. Though he did snap out of it and got better in the end.
Pillars of Eternity: the gods are literally constructs, divine entities brought into being by the labour and sacrifice of an ancient civilisation that despaired when they discovered the truth at the heart of their world: that there were no gods. They resolved to put their enormous power to creating gods for their world (thereby, it was hoped, eliminating religious strife, as no one could deny the very real influence these new beings had on the very fabric of Eora). They used their very souls to fuel this venture, and the interesting thing about the lore of these games is that they were actually pretty succesful by most standards (although in the grand scheme of things they really just exchanged one set of problems for another)

The bioshock twist hasn’t left me since I first played it on release….and that was 16 years ago. Smh, what a classic
Revan reveal was so awesome because we were presented with all the clues game dropped before, which were hiding in plain sight...
Bioshock’s twist was insanely big for me. It was out of nowhere, perfectly executed and was brilliantly smart of the devs to make it.
Revealing Albert Wesker real identity was one of the best plot twist
Dusknoir being a villain and Grovyle being a hero in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon explorers of the sky was a pretty good Plot twist

Final Fantasy 7- Learning Sephiroth was really a creation using Jenova's alien DNA blew my mind when I was a Kid.
I'd say that was a bigger one compared to Aerith dying honestly. I'm sure they didn't want to add two from the same game
