      Was probably her way of reclaiming her freedom as Rapunzel affected every major aspect of her life: lost her mother because Rapunzel had the healing aura, life as a soldier was upended with Rapunzel's return, life as a Bridesmaid rendered obsolete when Rapunzel chose not to marry just yet, and even her one day off to put her soldier skills to the test in a tournament was undone by Rapunzel entering on a whim and advancing - all those years of training with her foster father embarrassingly rendered subpar with Rapunzel's inexperience, luck, and a frying pan. Having someone - a friend - constantly altering your life over and over would drive you mad and want to reclaim the steering wheel of your life.

      I think the person had meant to type "there" but accidentally typed "their", It happens. Also, that is understandable. Seeing our favourite heroes get killed off is always heartbreaking and sad because they're a big part of who we are. Whether it was the first time we saw them or down the line, we look up to these heroes seeing something special about them and it builds us up, gives us hope and when that hero is killed or even hurt in ways we don't realise, it breaks our hearts. Fortunately, there are times when heroes come back to life and see that they are a part of the adventures again. I was a bit of a Wolverine fan, I watched X-Men Evolution and even though the comics are different from the show, the original Wolverine being trapped in Adamantium and dying as a result broke my heart and seeing him appear in another comic made me pretty happy. Not all heroes do come back from the dead but it shows two positive things. One, the heroes who don't come back will finally be in peace and not have to suffer anymore. Two, the heroes who do come back can learn from their death experience and have time to potentially grow as characters and show a side of them that people enjoy.

      I know! That just devastated me! I think they established that Jack was in the future for 50+ years, that's over fifty years stuck in a wasteland away from the family and life he knew (longer than he was previously alive), when he FINALLY finishes his mission, ending up with a woman he loves, and she just disappears. Makes perfect logical sense but what a SAD blow right when it seemed like he could finally be happy. Such a gut punch. (Not sure if it makes a difference, but I never gave Samurai Jack a chance until a few years ago I got a vibe that it was less childish than I had thought, it seemed like it might appeal to me, so I watched it front to back, and JUST finished it around when the return Season 5 came along, so I saw all 5 seasons in a row, back-to-back, essentially catching Season 5 when it was new. So the first 4 seasons were fresh in my mind when I saw all this).

    In Spider-Man the Animated Series, Mary Jane falls in a portal and is lost within the multiverse leaving her fate unknown, (although Peter doesn't witness this, as he frantically checks under the debris and in the water with no luck finding her body), later on, Peter is being interrogated as a suspect in her disappearance only to be proven innocent when she randomly shows up at his door where it's revealed that she managed to find a way back (somehow), although minor amnesia prevents her from remembering any details. Eventually Peter tells her of his secret identity as Spider-Man as he doesn't want to lie to her anymore, and the trust formed from that causes their relationship to grow stronger, after which he asks her to marry him, and she happily agrees.
    After the marriage, Hydro-Man returns (one of Spider-Man's enemies and Mary Jane's "ex-control freak boyfriend", back before she met Peter Parker) whom Spider-Man had already defeated (as it was assumed that Hydro-Man had accidentally died when he couldn't maintain his watery form and evaporated leaving no traces behind) He claims that he came back for Mary Jane, and they were "made for each other". He tries to kidnap Mary Jane but is interrupted by Spider-Man. However, Hydro-Man gains the upper hand, but before he can deliver the finishing blow, Mary Jane blasts him back with HER OWN "water powers" that mimic Hydro-Man's in every way, and she manages to save her husband.
    Later a mysterious scientists makes himself known to Mary Jane claiming to be her "father", which excites her as she never knew her father and is shown throughout the show always wanting to find him, as she always felt robbed of a paternal relationship. However, after bringing her to his lab, he explains that he isn't her biological father, as he merely created her in his cloning facility. Turns out, that after Spider-Man had defeated Hydro-Man long ago, this scientist went to where Hydro-Man had evaporated and took minute traces of DNA from the concrete, that he used to create a perfect clone, powers included. However, trace amounts of Mary Jane's DNA had been there as well, since he'd previously tried to abduct her before his defeat, and so the scientist had inadvertently (or maybe purposefully, been a while, can't remember) cloned her as well. And in order to appease the Hydro-Man clone, "gave her" to him so he could have his own personal Mary Jane so to speak... (I know, doesn't make it any less creepy, ick) But was AGHAST when the clone showed signs of FREE WILL and possessed memories of her previous life, and only had love for Peter Parker, and thus she had escaped the lab in order to seek him out and be with him. Which is why she showed up mysteriously at his door, while he was being interrogated for her very disappearance.
    Long story short (Yeah, ironic how this is the short version, because it took a LOT of episodes to get where we are) both she and the Hydro-Man clone are unstable, and after some conflict and action scenes, both end up breaking down into normal water (thus dying... pretty hardcore for a kid's show, but hey, this was the 90's and boy did they push that envelope! Don't even get me started on Beast Wars...) and Spider-Man cries out his classic "MAAARY JAAANE!" as she liquidizes in his arms...
    TL;DR - Spider-Man the Animated Series - Peter Parker's girlfriend, Mary Jane, is presumed dead or missing. She mysteriously comes back, confesses her love for Peter, who in turn confesses his identity as Spider-Man. They get married, all is well, until she's revealed to be an unstable clone that doesn't have long to live. She regrets nothing and she's glad her short lived existence was spent with the man she loved, and even ended up saving Peter's life before eventually liquidizing into lifeless water... (huh... guess there was a shorter version after all)

But then seeing how much she was inadvertently emotionally hurting him, Tara came clean. Though not in a direct way. She hadn't lost her memories. She knew exactly who she was, what she did. But just wanted to be a normal girl, going to a normal school, with normal friends. Beast Boy understood. Before the Teen Titans was rebooted as a silly kid's show afterwards, that's where the season ends. With an upbeat Beast Boy deciding to respect Tara's wishes, while running off to help his teammates in a battle. There was no heavy cost for Tara.

    4 for My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic:
    1. Twilight becomes an Alicorn. Sure, Twilight Sparkle had always adored her mentor Princess Celestia and had wanted to live up to her example, but she herself had never thought that this involve growing wings and becoming pony royalty.
    2. Starlight Glimmer had stalked the Mane 6 throughout Season 5. She has the distinction of being the only villain to face the ponies in both a Season opening and a Season closer.
    3. The Crusaders get their Cutie marks, and on the 5th year anniversary of the show's first episode. Very few series grant the long-established goals for secondary characters before the end of a series. And the series runners did this for Applebloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo in a way that kept their roles as Crusaders and expanded on their theme.
    4. Grogar is Discord in disguise. By virtue of his signature bell, it' implied that there was actually a "real" Grogar in the series' canon's past, but the one who revives, frees and unifies villains of seasons past and Big Bad of the series final season is the God of Chaos himself. And not out of malice, but a misguided sense of gratitude, wanting for Twilight to have increasingly challenging, but still manageable enemies to fight and grow from.

    • @unvanquishedtruth
      @unvanquishedtruth 2 месяца назад

      None of these are plot twists, they're just plot points. A culmination of events. "Villain tries to take down heroes over time" and "characters achieve their goals" are normal things. Especially for the Crusaders, since it's a guaranteed part of growing up. It would be a twist if they NEVER got cutie marks.

    • @Smilley85
      @Smilley85 2 месяца назад

      @@unvanquishedtruth I disagree, and let me go through the points again to make my case:
      1. Twilight never wanted to be an alicorn. Sure, she admired Celestia as a mentor and wielder of magic, but the best she had hoped for, realistically, was to become a court mage, like Starswirl the Bearded. Her gaining wings and becoming royalty never seemed an option.
      2. Yeah, that's just a minor one. It's just fun to go re-watch the episodes and realize that the conspiracy nuts actually were right that time.
      3. This is more of a meta one. Name me one series where a secondary character attained their primary, character-defining goal, and then proceeded to remain in the show. And it was done at the culmination of an episode where they weren't even the central focus.
      I personally love the way the writers did it in a way that was consistent, and that opened up the Crusaders' character arc, rather than close it down.
      4. At this point of the story Discord was not a villain any more. He was merely trying to wrap his head around the very concept of friendship. And it was out of this misguided effort to help that he brought back the other villains and donned the disguise of Grogar. That, and he never really let his mask slip, up until his magic was sapped. If you guessed this one early, props to you, as I did not.

    OK, I know you talked about why it was a shock to find out Norman Osborne was Green Goblin. However, you have a similar problem with Tera. I would suggest reading a Teen Titans story called "The Judas Contract." It tells the story of a Titans member named Tera who betrayed the team.

    I’d have done what Vaggie did in her situation, even if it meant sending her to Hell as a fallen angel. I didn’t realize how big that twist was.

      Thing is if you think about it how unredeemably corrupt and fundamentally evil must a child have been to get sent to hell.

      What about the twist of Husk being an Overlord? That one actually got me because he seemed like the last person who would have been.

    in the mr.pb episode rick starts off by saying that there are 6 real people in the house. Rick, morty, beth, jerry, and summer make 5; mr.pb is the 6th. There was never a twist because we had the answer all along.

    5:29 Scott’s character development is way better in the comics and they could’ve still flesh out the main characters without going off rails

    It's not ironic he called Betty princess. His love for Betty was corrupted into a need for a princess to love him.
