    Today we are going to do full install of a Pop & Lock PL8675 Smart Lock Combo Kit. This kit features both the full handle manual lock and the power lock which operates off of the OE key fob.

    Had a tailgate recall and the Honda dealership miss aligned the
    “throw” of the locking arm. The locking arm ways throwing -short-
    I had to go back in and realign the the throw
    Working perfectly now

    As much as I’m enjoying the rock, I’d surely trade it for a bit of narration.

    4 comments after completing on G2/2018: 1st: Very helpful video, and routing to pillar works fine, saves time! 2nd: Do NOT bring wire up through hole he shows, as that's one of the holes the plastic parts lock to (to hold down the kickplate). Instead, cut/drill slits in the rubber plug 5-6" back, pull the wire up through that. 3rd: Green wire to red wire as he shows. Dark blue wire to thin-gauge yellow wire (24g?), NOT to heavier (18g?) yellow wire. That's not real clear in the video. 4: I found it easier to cut the tape holding the wire harness as it travels up the pillar than where he shows, but whichever is easier for you will work. Just tape back over the harness when done. Overall, big thanks for the video! Oh, PS make sure you get the PL8675 with keyed lock, not the 8600 with no lock. Toss the keys in the glove compartment, so if something malfunctions on the power lock you'll still have a way to get the tailgate unlocked...

      I know this was a while ago, but thank you for clarifying which wires were used. I just finished the installation on my 2019 RTL-E and I would have been lost without this info.
      Another thing that wasn't clear about the video was that the rod between handle and the actuator needs to be replaced. Mine stuck in the box when I dumped everything else out and it seemed like the original was to be reused. Of course it kept hitting the new arm on the lock cylinder and I couldn't figure out how to get any clearance... until I went back to the box and found the replacement rod, LOL.
      My wire run under the car is sketchy because I had no idea where to route it, so I want to redo that one day, but for now I have a power locking tailgate.

    Can you use it as manual lock if you dont hook up the power locking mechanism

    • @PopandLock
      @PopandLock  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, I suppose you could but the PL8675 is designed as a smart lock (either locking mechanism will override the other). That way if the battery failed, you could still open the tailgate with the manual key. If power is not desired then you can save some $ by just ordering/installing the PL6200. The PL8675 is a combination of the PL6200 (manual) and the PL8600 (power) lock options. Thanks!

    Thank you! I was able to DIY this kit on my G2 today.

      Rizbel, I am considering buying this and installing it on my 2018 RTL-E. Have you had any issues since the install? Does this also lock the handle on the bumper too? I have seen some complaints on the Ridgeline owners complaining about the “8600” version with the bumper lock handle breaking using the “8600” version. I would love to talk with you since you completed this DIY as I am looking to do.

    I loved the electric Pop-N-Lock I installed in my G1 Ridgeline and my manual/electric Pop-N-Lock for my G2 Ridgeline was delivered today and I can't wait to get in installed. PS - Made me nervous watching the installer working over the exposed floor drain, I would have lost at least a clip or two down the drain. :)

    Great video. Can the lock be wired so it is activated with the proximity sensor for the trunk?

    • @YSRRacerX
      @YSRRacerX 5 лет назад

      No proximity sensor for the trunk. The trunk locks and unlocks along with the doors. Using the remote will lock unlock trunk as well as this kit. WHENEVER the doors unlock, trunk and tailgate (with this kit) will unlock.

    I have the manual PL6200. What do I need to buy to add the Portland power upgrade?

    The video shows pulling the wire to the door which I presume is coming through at the back seat. Could you elaborate on how you pulled the wire. Your instructions say to take it through the firewall at the engine?

      ...and the supplied cable isn't long enough to do that.

      Guys... just completed this...run the wiring underneath the vehicle to the left hand passenger post. How you do this is up to yourselves...I fret over routing because damage to the cable is my priority. Remove the inside left passenger sill...way easy...and the drivers' inside sill...way easy. Also remove the post plastic the same way.
      I used the side frame grommet and the top sill grommet, below the post on the left side frame..they pop out easily. Remove them and poke or/hand drill bit them...feed the cable through the grommets and reattach them. Follow the video for connection. The connections your looking for are the Red and Yellow wires after you disconnect the connector inside the post frame. This method is way easier than running the cable to the fuse box.

    Most unclear video ever

      Take a look at the other Pop & Lock installation video for this truck, then watch this one. For running the wire to the front, there is an oblong rubber plug in the bottom of the frame on the drivers side, under the REAR door. Remove that, run the thin wire through that then through the round hole it shows him coming up through. The wiring harness he utilizes is at the bottom of the drivers side pillar at next to the drivers seat. Much easier to do this than run lock wire up to the front, worm it through the fire wall, then tap into a fuse. Good luck.

      There's no narration anyway, unfortunately, so just muting it works.
