    I love the focus on each color and how you talk about how to get the most realistic color you can without falling back on common or simple blends. This also makes me want to run out to Cinnabon and grab a roll, or six!

      Please get some for me too. It's really hard to color food for hours then spend weeks working on the video and articles and Pinterest graphics... I would totally kill for a cinnamon roll now.

    I absolutely love your videos. I’m not a colorist. I just love your explanation of colors, shadows, highlights, your tips, and tricks for depth, undertones and nuances of other colors. Taught me how to look at color very differently now. When I see a low light, I’m looking to see what other colors are there as well

      This is wonderful to read. And you're absolutely right, color is a universal language so it doesn't matter what medium or art form you do. Everything creative has color in common. Thanks for watching and thanks for sharing!

    Add me to the folks who are craving homemade cinnamon rolls after watching this! lol
    This was fascinating. If wondered about moving some of the E markers into the family they really belonged with, but often didn't know where they should go. I took photos of each one of the charts as I watched this. Extremely helpful! I've used that tool you used where the RGB color (I think that's what it is) pops up when you pause the cursor over a spot in an image. But it's been so long ago. It's that something built into Word, or is it a separate piece of software?

      I was using the eyedropper tool inside Adobe Illustrator but that's total overkill. If you're looking for a simple color sampler, I have two installed on my iPad: "Arty" and "Color Picker for Artists"

    Amy, wow! I was not expecting to see any of the colors you showed for the Brown. However, I do know what to expect from you from now on, the unexpected lol. You're one of the most talented artists I've ever seen or been around. I feel so inspired and grateful to have found you. Thank you so much for sharing!🥰

    You make me think. Still, I did not see RV66 coming. I guess by now I should always expect the unexpected. 😁 I love this series you are doing. And I love that you don’t necessarily follow the “natural” blending combinations. It makes me feel free to experiment. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent. -Melissa

      Hee hee, I'm kinda picturing the Monte Python priests saying that "Nobody expects the RV66". But honestly, thank you Melissa, this is absolutely the highest complement you could give me. I'm thrilled to be sparking the thought process and creativity for you! Bless you.

      LOL. I had cinnamon rolls on the brain for like a month when planning, filming, and promoting this video. I didn't have time to make any myself so I found a bakery. Sadly, it was dry and over-frosted. Great, now I'm thinking cinnamon rolls again...

    I don't quite agree with you on this topic of brown and undertones and mixing complementary colours. First, you should always get gray when mixing true complementary colours. Some mixes might pass through brown on the way there, but they should end up gray. Second, brown is a dark and/or desaturated orange. Therefore you can only really get brown by mixing colours that are on opposite sides of orange. *end of know-it-all rant*

    • @AmyShulke
      @AmyShulke  8 месяцев назад +2

      Desaturated orange is only one of many, many, many browns. If you find the opportunity to take a color mixing class, I think you'd quite enjoy learning how to find more browns which can serve well where orange based neutrals do not. Good luck and I encourage you to keep exploring the vast potential of color.
