Fishing for Whatever Bites with a MICRO NED RIG!

- Micro Ned Rig? Yes please! In today's kayak fishing video, I cut a Finesse TRD in half and toss it on a 1/32oz Mule Jig for whatever bites! I used this exclusively on my 4'10 ultralight BFS rod/reel and it was super fun! Mule Lake shows out yet again!
For those of you who like multispecies fishing with ultralight equipment, I highly recommend tossing a Micro Ned Rig. It simply gets bit... A LOT! And you never know what might eat it, which makes fishing trips super exciting in my opinion.

Fun video, just received my Curado BFS, next week Mule jigs and Bass
GO GET THEM!
You have been to Saskatchewan 😊
Okay I guess I forgot about that. BUT I can guarantee I haven't been there in 1881 :)
If I’m not fishing for catfish I almost always use my ultra light setup. It’s a 5 1/2 foot rod and the smallest phlueger spinning reel they make with 6 pound braid and 6 lb fluorocarbon leader.
That has to be a fun little combo!
play some Colter Wall on your videos and you'll have lots more subscribers
That would be a good way to get a copyright claim :( But I do love Colter!
Smoked Gouda triscuits are where it’s at!
I love all of their flavors! Triscuits kick ass :)
Your idea makes so much sense. Giving it a go this week
Awesome, let me know how you do! :)
I really wish more companies here in the US would make UL baitcasters...I'm having a hard time spending $300 plus!
Totally agree!

I see you fish many small ponds. Ifish on big walleye lakes do you ever catch fish in the 2 or 3 pound range ,or all small with the ned rig ? Not uncommon to catch a Pike of 7 pounds, all I-ever see on the many ned rig videos I watch are tiny fish. Nothing wrong with that but just wondering is Ned Rig only for tiny fish ?
Ned Rig catches lots of quality as well. Personally, I fish mostly smaller lakes, as those are what are prominent in my area. I would say the Ned Rig will probably never be my top pick for the true giants in a lake, but its not to say it won't catch them. It just seems to draw the mid-size fish in greater numbers.
Cool little “micro” bait using the Ned Rig! 👍 Great fishing adventure... your little hack (removing some plastic from your worm) worked! Blessings! 🎣
Thanks Rob! It was a fun day for sure - glad you enjoyed it :)
Just a suggestion, you able to used the Shakyhead worm 4" long and cut to desire length....it still bouncy enough to stand straight up....fish like a ned rig and thin enough for small and also catch a big one.
Good idea! Thank you for sharing :D
Okay. Next product line should be micro Ned baits to match up with the Mule Jigs. Smaller in length and smaller in diameter. I think that would be better than chopping up existing baits.
I definitely agree it needs to be done. I guess we will all have to be patient :)
i found a nice braided line for ultralight casting and i used it now. its called p-line x4 and i bought the 1 lbs one...
Whaaaat I gotta check that out! Thanks for sharing :)
🔥
Lol, cops called. Yesh.
Just trying to be like them big youtubers XD
@@FishAnything hahahaha for sure, if you don't have a "cops" video do you even have a channel, brah?! XD
did anyone mention 1&1.5" split-tail beetle grub plastics for micro-finess neddin' yet?? cause that's what I've used for that, even sometimes on finesse shaky heads too. speakin' of, just grabbed a sienna 500fd to throw some 4lb fireline on to set up a new micro-finesse combo... . . . _ON A ML-XF ROOOODDDDDD!!!_ . . . but it'll also work wonders on my 6.5' 3/4wt. finesse fly rod too, so.
Awesome! And yeah I totally agree that the little beetle baits are excellent for this presentation as well :)
Is there a weedless Mule jig in the works or a way to make it weedless?
Thanks for asking! I don’t have one in the works (yet) but the Mule Jig can do very well around weeds. Because these are such light jigs, you can usually skate it over the top of grass without major issues. Larger jigs want to fall into the weeds while this won’t get bogged down.
Have you tried any of the other Zman ned rig plastics?
I use Zman plastics all the time. Finesse TRD, TRD MinnowZ, Slim SwimZ... Love them!
You sound like just the nicest guy lol.
I was having a down in the dumps poopy day, thanks for cheering me up!
I am glad you enjoyed the video and it could make your day a bit better :) Hope you are having a great week!
Great concept. I'm gonna try this next time I fish
Hope you crush them!!
I love using a Strike King "The Joker" on a ned rig! Its becoming my confidence small plastic very quickly! Similar to a "Ticklerz" or small tube but effective on Bass AND Panfish opening up a variety of catches on my ultralight setup.
Thanks for the video and Good Hookin!
Tyler I totally agree I have one pack of those and I need to use them more often. Thanks for the reminder :)
I have the black and siver color. Shad imitation? Do we even have shad around here? Everything I throw seems to immitate a Bluegill, Crawfish, or a Bug haha.
I rarely use the black and silver combo on soft plastics but this one works well!
Cut the tail off a donkey for a Ned Rig?
Absolutely! They work well as a Ned or Crappie bait with no tail.
Idk if I'll ever get used to watching you reel lefty!
It is definitely a strange feeling but I have been having fun with it lol
Did you perform any upgrades on your GH100?
I personally haven't but I believe Mark (the fella I purchased it from) upgraded the bearings. I am still quite new to BFS so I have a lot to learn!
good timing!
:)
Just found your channel by accident, and I'm glad i did, great job! You deserve more subs!
Thank you that means a lot :) feel free to share haha
Mono is like trying to set with a rubber band.
Darn right it is haha that is a good comparison XD
The Trd minnowz are pretty slender and work great on the mules.
I love the TRD MinnowZ! One of my favorite Ned baits besides the Finesse TRD.
Awesome video
Thanks JP! :)
Keep up the work
Love your vids accidentally sent only half the message 😂
:) Thanks M Cap!
"If they made a finesse TRD, but skinny..."
It's called a WormZ and a pair of scissors.
Okay you’re right 🤣🤣 that would work!
So glad I came across your channel. Been getting into fishing again over the past few years and have caught some pretty big bass on senkos and chatterbaits but feel like I am missing out on other species and sometimes tough to get into smaller spots with a 7' rod. Can't wait to get a lighter/shorter set up going!
The ultralight stuff is another game altogether. Have fun! Thanks for stopping by 🤠👊🏽
I think you'd call the line 4 lb mono high visibility? Might seem like an odd question but I love fishing with braid. I'm told that's bad because fish can see it then then I see vids with this high visibility line on it. Is the line being used on this video somehow invisible under water or to fish? What's wrong with a dark green braid which, 6 lb to 6 lb is probably a lot thinner than mono?
Definitely don’t think there is anything wrong with straight braid. If you are fishing super clear water, you may catch a few more on clear line but you can always add a leader!
Im interested in buying some mule jigs. What do you think is the best size to start with if only choosing one?
Thank you Daniel! I would say the 1/64oz and the 1/32oz are my go-to sizes for lots of multispecies. Go with the 1/64oz if you want it to be a bit better for panfish and go 1/32oz if you want it to be a bit better for bass & trout.
Let me know how else I can help!
@@FishAnything thanks you are the man! I grew up ultra light fishing and over the past 15 years or so I got away from it to explore other fishing methods. Your videos inspired me to get back into ultra light and im havin a blast with it. What line do u recomend with your mule jigs without a leader?
I have personally preferred 2 or 4 # monofilament. It’s cheap and it performs well for low diameter line. Thanks Daniel!
I have a bass that lives near my dock I catch him atleast once a spring. I have caught him 4 years in a row now. He nests in the same tire every year. I am going to be pretty sad when he doesnt come back I have grown to like him.
What’s he weigh now?
@@bobseaver7807 this last year he was maybe 16-17 inches and about 2 1/2 lbs maybe 3 lbs I have never actually put him on a scale. I live on a land locked private lake that's super unbalanced and alot of the bass are starving to death due to the lack of forage. I sit on the board of directors of the lake and finally just got a vote passed to put 10,000 more bluegill into the lake. Hopefully next year he is much healthier then this year.
That is neat stuff - great to hear you were able to help get 10K more bluegill planted. Might need to try dumping a bunch of minnows in as well!
@@FishAnything I mentioned adding minnows but I would have to put 10 lbs of minnows per acre. At their current price here at 9.50 a lb I dont think I will benefit from adding them.
10 × 61 =610 lbs
610 × 9.50 = 5795.00
That's like 300 dollars less then the 10k bluegill. I will say I doubt half of those bluegill will make it to breeding but atleast the bass will eat good lol
Glad y’all are getting to do that. About how much does something like that cost?
i love your channel! these videos are so entertaining haha
Thank you :) I do my best haha
Can't wait for my bfs reel and rod to get here. I should have it hopefully by tusedsay
I can't wait til you get it! Make sure you tell me how you like it once you do. Very intrigued to hear about these new Spark reels.
I have this same rod, and I'm thinking about rededicating it for multi species fishing. Do you think the backbone is too soft for effective hooksets?
I think the fact that it’s only 4’10 is the only thing preventing a solid hookset. I actually think the backbone is incredible for an UL Rod. Definitely going to be a great multispecies rod but I’d say it will mostly be good for shorter casts. Any hooksets with a lot of line out will have a hard time burying a hook
BFS looks like fun, but I can't help thinking that's what UL gear would be like if no one had invented spinning reels.
Lol yeah that’s fair. Honestly BFS is super fun but I don’t necessarily think it adds a lot of value except for fishermen who need solid accuracy with small lures in tight areas. Other than that, it’s just for fun as far as I can tell 🤠🤷🏼♂️
@@FishAnything I dig out a baitcaster if I'm throwing big plugs and spinners for pike. They have great winching power in the weeds and the thumbable spool is nice for fine-tuning your distance. But to me, the advantage goes away with really light bait because you have to generate a certain amount of speed just to peel the line off the rotating spool. I do better with a
short spinning rod.
Great video are you going to be going live soon
Probably won't be able to this week but I will try to get one going in the next few weeks. Life has been hectic these days!
I want to know everything about bfs fishing. I've watch your bfs videos
I am still learning as well :) it is definitely fun stuff! Glad you are liking them!
Frist, good morning you all
Thanks Michael :) Hope you had a good Memorial Day weekend!
@@FishAnything yes I did, family BBQ and a bunch of laughs life is 👍 stay safe this weekend and have fun keep the reels lose and the lines tight
Hey, me again. Can't wait to get my own BFS setup. What rod are you using in this vid? Also, the ends of a Zoom Finesse Worm make excellent micro Ned rig plastics. The top is a bit thicker and probably good for the new larger Mule jigs. I probably should've shortened the tail a bit, but here's the smaller end on a 1/32 Mule jig.

Oh myyyyy that jig/plastic looks beautiful! And the rod in this video is the Majorcraft Troutino 4'10 UL. I LOVE IT!
You talk too much!
Thanks for the kind words! Hope you have a nice week.
