  • In this video I restore a 1990 Schwinn Impact MOS. This bike was functional but needed a little loving and some customization to make it special again for another 34 years.

    Really liked this rebuild. I recently did the same thing buying bars with too much rise and the shifters & levers didn’t fit. Nice recovery and you’ll use those bars down the road, same here. Tour of the workshop soon, yes please.

    I love how the playground, woods etc are always completely deserted and silent. It's like you're the only person living for miles around.
    Wondering if Ritchey Logic brakes (I believe were made by Dia-Compe) have that same spring tension adjustment? Way better than messing with the typical need-three-hands cantilever brake adjustment.

    Ha! I have made that same exact mistake! The cables weren’t bad either. I can’t remember why I even cut them but I was so upset that I couldn’t even find any cables for that Suntour shifter at the time. I ended up replacing the shifters. I think I tossed the old shifters away out of frustration. Glad you were able to find a replacement. Thats one of the rare times when the seller really did know they have.

    Black and yellow is always a sharp combo! Most people don't have a laser etcher laying around. Do you use it as a hobbyist, small businesss, or underground lasik eye surgery.

    • @DePuesshop
      @DePuesshop  7 месяцев назад +2

      Haha! No eye surgery going on here. I engrave some wood products that I sell on Etsy. I'll talk about it in my shop tour.

    What kind of grease do you like to use in your little grease gun?

    • @DePuesshop
      @DePuesshop  7 месяцев назад

      Very fancy stuff! I use waterproof wheel bearing grease from the auto parts store. The same stuff you put in a boat trailer wheel bearing.

      Thanks! I've been using Red-n-Tacky grease because I always have it on hand. Not sure if using something like Park Tool Polylube is better. It is compatible with other greases. Based on what I've read, any of these are fine, but some insist that bike grease is better. @@DePuesshop

    Sorry to say, it's just my opinion, but this looks like a Chinese bike now, all about the looks, but the content...hmmm. Not sure. Schwinn as a very known brand name, I would sure try and or buy. So no worries, just saying I dislike the colour balance. Maybe just the wrong kind of yellow.

      I understand. I took a risk on this one and knew that this design is not everyone's cup of tea. It's definitely bold. I appreciate your feedback and comment.
