That paint job came out fantastic. Love those honest old 80s road bikes, and you could tell the previous owner knew what they were doing with that mix of parts.
I had to laugh on your comments about Maroon and yellow. It might be coincidence but those are AS Roma FC's home colours. I bet the owner was a Roma fan 😊
Awesome build! Great job putting some life into the bike, that paint work is wild. One minor nitpick, the rear brake cable housing should be routed on the opposite side of the head tube, it won't rub on the frame as much, steering will be less biased, and gives the cables a symmetrical look from the front. Outstanding work overall, that is sweet rig
Very nice. Great idea to create that marble look. A nice wax after the paint drys out and before the clear coat helps from chipping off too. Clean look !
Bruh this is SICK!!!! These are the types of bikes that should be worth some money and not some factory BS or some brand just because it has a "name brand". My goal is to make bikes from scratch eventually and this is mad inspiration. Thanks!
Nice, never seen that method done with ink before. You should "faux braze" (highlight the edges of all the lugs with gold paint) It would hide the poor masking and add a touch of class. I've known people use nail varnish/polish to good effect, is basically paint anyway.
Great job 👏👏👏👏👏 High polish components would be awesome too. This remains me back in 2012 when I did this military camouflaged paint job on a BMX frame with five tones of blue.
i have to be honest when you started with the ink i didnt think it would work out to well but after you finished it i think she is a beauty but i would have clear coated the front badge also it sets it off wonderfully
I rarely re use loose cup B B s, but if I do, i either drill holes for a spray grease straw, or fill the shell with red lucas grease. I love cartridge bbs esp the internal thread type that repair bikes with wasted threads.
DePues, try the Sheldon Brown b bracket cup extraction. It works great. Put a big hardware store bolt and 4 lock washers into the cup, and tighten a standard nut on the outside. Tighten hard with a socket and box wrench then blast it off with an impact wrench at the tire shop if it hasnt already let you bust it with an old seatpost for a cheater bar. I've gotten many out with a big socket and cheater pipe.
dopeAF - I'd ride the heck outta that bike. Personally, I would have added more purples/magenta/blues but thats just my flavour. This thing is MUAH: Bad Arse!!! Thanks for the vid!!
The original colours were used on tons of 80s and early 90s bikes. Check out the Union Sapporo. That said, your paint job was way way nicer! Blimey it could of been a Somec when you had finished. Beautiful mate
The paint job is incredible, I personally wouldn't have painted the lugs white and perhaps just highlighted them with some very thin gold afterwards. I think it's because manufacturers never ever seem to paint lugs separately, probably due to the masking time, it screams home paint job. What do you think? It turned out amazing irrespective.
Really appreciate the efforts in this video and the introduction of new (to me) methods, and now I'm thinking about using the masking fluid with a stencil before spray-painting. Wondering if it will work as a reverse decal??
Love the paint. Think i might try it. Personally hate vintage brake calipers. They don't work that well and they are kind of ugly. I would swap them with some silver Tektros.
I had a bike in the 80's with 600 Arabesque groupset, except the brakes which were the same as yours. Still hate them so much. Chainrings where 54/45 (still got them) and 6 speed cassette 12-21 and I live in a very hilly area. That was a common gearing back then. Were people stronger in those days?
That's a really unique finish. Don't know your plans for the bike now that it's been refurbed, but I hop it's getting tubes and tires before you do any serious riding.
Major improvement. This paint job looks INCREDIBLE! You are an artist!! I love the thoughtful white accents throughout (cables, lugs, tape etc.). Your video and audio are high quality too, not often is someone this handy in the shop AND on the computer. Well done!! My question is: do you trust your clear coat enough to ride this beauty?? Also, more generally, what does someone DO with pieces like this? Do you usually sell them? Hang them on the wall? Sunday joy rides??
Thank you for your kind words!! To answer your question, I would definitely trust the clear coat to ride it. I think bikes are meant to ride and not just be a show piece. Generally, with the bikes I build, I ultimately try to sell them because I have way too many sitting around. There are a few that I like too much to sell and keep them for a while.
@@DePuesshop Right on that's good to hear. I apologize if you already mentioned this in the video, but what is the clear coat that you use? Yup, you only have so much garage!!
That paint job came out fantastic. Love those honest old 80s road bikes, and you could tell the previous owner knew what they were doing with that mix of parts.
This paint job is absolutely stunning
I had to laugh on your comments about Maroon and yellow. It might be coincidence but those are AS Roma FC's home colours. I bet the owner was a Roma fan 😊
Personally I love the original paintjob and would have kept it, but this looks brilliant too, very eye-catching.
Holy cow that looks awesome; I'd be inclined to polish those arabesque parts up now that the frame looks so nice
Yeah, ride them. They were nice bike jewelry.
Thanks for inspiration. Stunning work. ❤
Great paint. I liked the original a lot, but yours is really interesting and psychedelic.
That's a really nice bike mate. Really nice.

I agree with you! You have a good eye!!
Very nice. Great idea to create that marble look. A nice wax after the paint drys out and before the clear coat helps from chipping off too. Clean look !
I started watching this video yesterday in the throws of a fever.. so I missed lots.. just watching the removal of the masking. sweet
That came out great man! I like how you did all the fit and finish. Glad you made the flanges white and didn't blend the entire bike!
That looks absolutely amazing.
Bruh this is SICK!!!! These are the types of bikes that should be worth some money and not some factory BS or some brand just because it has a "name brand". My goal is to make bikes from scratch eventually and this is mad inspiration. Thanks!
Thank you!!
Tange tubed Shogun 600. I owned one in college, bugundy with silver head tube. I sold them out of the shop I worked at.
Heck yeah. That's a sick paintjob
Looks great in the sun. Good work
The color is very beautiful, brother.
This is one of the coolest and unique paint jobs ever. I dig it. Although I don't have the patience for it.

No Le Eroica for _you!_
😎
AWESOME… Dig the Alcohol Ink… Thanks for sharing this. Gotta try it sometime.
i have to be honest when you started with the ink i didnt think it would work out to well but after you finished it i think she is a beauty but i would have clear coated the front badge also it sets it off wonderfully
It was definitely a long process. The good thing is that there's really no way to mess it up. There was a little finessing going on, too.
Loved every frame. Beautiful!
Beautiful job, well done.
Beautiful, it's like abalone shell.
The blue characters in the movie "Avatar" would certainly like that bike. I certainly like the way it turned out.
Nice job!
At the same time as changing the brake levers, I would have changed the calipers. Frame is stunning!

Brilliant work👍🏻
El trabajo de pintura es extraordinario y como siempre un gusto ver la remodelación 👏👏👏👏👏

great,well done❤🎉
Very nice and Kool
Dario would have approved, no doubt.
That is cool... Nice job sir 👍
Awesome 🎉
Wow!🤩
I have a 80's huffy road cruiser old point 3 speed all Japan hubs and hand brakes good condition 26"wheels bike burgundy in color 👍
FOCUS!

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about how the lugs would look. Definitely not worth the effort.
bravo
Awesome colors! Do you have any plans to transform a 26 inch bike into a “klunker”? Thanks again!
Yes, I definitely plan on some klunker builds. I have most of the parts for a straight bar Schwinn I'm gonna do.
Really appreciate the efforts in this video and the introduction of new (to me) methods, and now I'm thinking about using the masking fluid with a stencil before spray-painting. Wondering if it will work as a reverse decal??
It seems to be a good method to mask. The only thing it was not good at was being able to cut or trim it. Otherwise, it's very versatile.
All good except the white lugs. I would make these on of the colors you used for the frame. But hey, thats me.
I think your right, and those lugs were quite a challenge as well.
Love the paint. Think i might try it.

Yes, I noticed they were at the end of their life and wouldn't trust pushing them hard. I was trying to keep the budget in check on this one.
I like it 😉
Checkout Orion paintworks- he has a video on how to do the alcohol inks. You did well.
I've seen that video! That guy is amazing! I wish I was as good as he is.
This bike looks amazing. I'm going to have to check out Orion paintworks too.
너무 아름다워요
Everything looks good except for the Campagnolo shifters. Love the paint!
Looks like a sekai to me…
You ruined that guys work damn
🤣
Horrific

@ErrybodyGetTypsy The clear coat is just rustoleum. Nothing special. I'm sure there are much better options out there.
Awesome work!
