I think, this scale isn´t really suited for recreating reale life cars with more complex shapes. If they marketed this as a generic green car with those functions and fpr 15--20$ less, it would have been great. I generally think that they should return to generic cars (at least at this scale and price range) so they can create shapes that work well, with functions that work well and at a price, thats worth it.

Wow man I miss the times when Lego released Technic sets that were actually good, and had some cool functions, modeled after real life stuff that wasn't to crazy to replicate, and promoted creativity. What happened? In the last 2-3 years the only big good set I've seen that is not overpriced is the Volvo Articulated Hauler. And most of the medium and small ones sucked too, except the Race Plane, that's amazing :))

The launch system actually makes this car incredibly realistic... If by realistic we're simulating a high schooler with rich parents buying them a Shelby, and then them trying to act big in a drag race and dumping the clutch only to stall the car...

I don't like the step that LEGO is taking of releasing these type of cars. I can see the potential of this new feature but the implementation of it in this set is pretty underwhelming. If they added the function of previous technic cars like opening doors and steering plus this new feature then it would be alot better IMO! Nice video as always!

Even before this review, I always had the worry this set was going to be a few steps backwards from the brilliant parts-heavy McLaren Senna GTR and even the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. This Shelby and the Porsche 99X feels somewhat basic at this price level, especially next to the Jeep Wrangler and McLaren Senna GTR sets from earlier this year, which not only have far more pieces and stuff going on with them but are cheaper now.
Granted it's cool this and the Porsche 99X Electric have two pullback motors instead of just one to compensate for the extra amount of pieces and weight over the smaller pullback sets. But they fundamentally don't do much different besides being bigger and having a release mechanism. This is compared to the Monster Jam sets which do near enough the same thing, even if they're smaller models, but are far less costly.

Personally think it doesn't look too bad at the scale, but so wish this had been built in the same scale as last years Raptor or even Boatmobile. Doubling the pullback motor seemed a good idea at the time, but as demonstrated here, it needs to be reliable, and the model strengthened for this kind of bump, and go play. Normally not a problem with display models, but kinda sucks having to stop, and rebuild during regular play. Best thing about this is the additional pieces to complete the model rather than having it look ugly from the rear on display.

However I'm assured Porsche is a total failure, I don't know can you even fit steering inside of it and that's sad because all of the cars this size have at least steering and working engine or suspension. Matching stickers with plastic is always hard. Even while it doesnt seem like it, you need competely different color for both, due materials difference. There is whole part of industry that deals only with matching colors on different stuff. Also LEGO might have some color limits too (as it cant be toxic even remotely).
What bothers me on this model is launch method, this trigger aint that hard to incorporate directly into body (I would probably use rear spoiler as trigger). Instead this pull apart nonsense.

I think you are a bit harsh when saying it looks bad, which you often do, to me this model is recognizable as a Mustang. It's definitely not perfect, but then looks is not really what Technic is about. The fact that it only really has one function and that it seem to be flawed is what makes it bad to me. Technic should be about seeing the mechanical stuff. Gears, pistons, and so on in motion. Lego has lost track of that I think. Maybe it's time to let Technic go back to that skeletal style where you can see the inner workings and start a new line of models that use technic stuff at the core for structure and functionality but with regular system pieces on the outside to make them look good.

I'm sorry but this just looks like a bad chinese knock off. It's flimsy, discolored and doesn't work properly. If only the price would reflect the quality. Anyone that's seriously buying this for $50 is insane. I feel like with every new set Lego releases they're taking a further step back

    What a horrible set.
First - please remind me what line is it? Louder? TECHNIC?! No way.
No functions whatsoever apart from pin-shredding shit-of-a-lock for the pullback. Feels like made for 3-year-old children as the lever is absurdly large, has distinctive color ("aim here") and collapses under the force of anybody over 10 years of age.
And finally - looks utterly horrible and does not resemble the original licensed car (apart from rear headlight... stickers).
    Quo vadis, LEGO?!

I hope is a joke...this is not a technic set...this is an ugly set without functions...too many technic cars in latest years...want something different..

Lego not ashamed to release a "technic" without any gears.
    Solid garbage set
