Why would you buy your next guitar pedal if you can have tons of fantastic guitar lessons, insights and pro tips right here for probably even less money? Thanks Alex, great stuff.
This is a great learning opportunity. The patreon materials are especially helpful, with the caged, arpeggio and scale exercises as a foundation for the solo. It's not like I haven't seen all these exercises before but it's putting these into context of an actual piece of music that I want to get under my fingers that i truly appreciate.
Thanks for the comment my friend, I’m glad you find the extra materials in this one to be useful. As you say, I think the key to really making this stuff stick is to immediately apply it 👍🏻
It's so nice to stay inside the arpeggiated chord construct, (very country) then drop a diminished lick or arpeggio ("snazzy jazzy"), to head to the 5th, then back eventually back the tonic 'A'... Excellent demonstration 👍... Thanks ~ Inertia
Really not alot i can add to all the other spot on comments. I will say though, you sure have a way of packing so much into a 17 minute video. Somehow without talking a mile a minute. Infact, as i said to you the first time i found your channel, your flow is smooth, thoughtful and concise. Your playing is superb, and knowing that you spend many hours on these videos, I felt it necessary to just say thank you again for your generosity.
Ah man, thank you so much.. I really appreciate the comment! I'm so glad you think I have a good balance of content/time.. it's something I do think about quite a bit.. I like things to be streamlined but not frustratingly brief. Again, thanks for the kind words mate 🙏🏻
Good stuff fella! I apologise for not having seen your channel before now. Ive been playing since forever, I'm now 63, and still managing to do it for a living, mostly country music, and this is the sort of playing that interests me these days - Playing to enhance the song. This sort of video is useful for players who actually play and record songs, rather than bedroom-playing purely for ourselves. We need a real musical framework to work within if we're at all serious about it. Nice one! Subscribed.
Great sounding composition. I had to keep telling by brain not to sing your recent rendition of the “Don’t let me down” tutorial as I kept hearing the melody line flavour in there. 👏
Thanks for the comment, I’m glad you found the lesson useful! For this sort of playing, check out the Drive by Truckers album “Brighter than creations dark”, and the Robert Plant/Alisson Krauss record “Raising Sand”. Also listen to Lucinda Williams and Wilco 👌🏻
Thanks alex, really enjoy all of your lessons. A little bit hard to follow for me as a beginner, but it's challenging in a good way and i'm digging in. The pdf's and transcription on your patreon page help a lot! Keep up the great playing and a really lovely guitar btw..
Thank you mate, I really appreciate the comment! Nice one for pushing yourself into deeper waters!.. definitely a good way of progressing! And thanks for your support over on Patreon, really glad you enjoy the lesson materials 🙏🏻
Alex, Thanks for another great lesson. The way you present and the completeness of the information is incredibly helpful. It also helps that the music you choose is tasteful and, for an intermediate player, aspirational.
Hi Alex, I just recently discovered your channel. Thank you for your inspirational lessons and videos. I bought some "stand-alone" lessons (Gumroad) and they are amazing. I am not a fan of Patreon, sorry. Thanks again. You are proof that taste, tone and (melodic) feel are more important than speed. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Thanks buddy, whether on Patreon, Gumroad or via a nice comment and a thumbs up.. I really appreciate the support! These videos and all that goes along with it takes a lifetime to make.. perhaps 8 hours of work per week! Glad you dig my playing mate 🙏🏻
Beautiful playing Alex and that T16 is one of the best sounding Tele guitars I’ve heard! What’s the name of the song this is from? Be great to hear some more of your work.
Thanks buddy, I appreciate that! Indeed, this is a really special tele. With this and the Nacho I have all my tele needs covered! 👌🏻 This was a piece of music called "Find My Way".. it was recorded for some "library music" which basically means, stuff they can use for TV shows and films etc. I do a lot of that type of thing!
@@AlexFarranGuitar Awesome and it wouldn't have surprised me a bit if he had chosen you. I saw he had used Abbey Road Studios and that little vocal piece in the video almost sounded like him.
Thanks mate, I appreciate that! Nowhere in particular, but I guess I was aiming for pedal steel type sounds and phrases I'd heard in the past.. Lloyd Green style perhaps!
@@AlexFarranGuitar thank you kindly for the response. I’ve purchased some before and I really appreciate the way you separate out arpeggio and triad info. I’ll go buy this one too! Love your work and your channel. Fan in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
Thanks man! It’s a piece called “Find My Way” that I did the session for .. I believe it’s for “library music”.. aka music intended to be used for TV shows, films etc
This guy's tastefully played and taught lessons almost make me cry... Each time
Ah man, thank you for the kind words! Really glad you like what I do! 🙏🏻🧡

Haha thanks Gert, I like that mentality! 😜👌🏻 Knowledge is power as they say!

That’s the ticket my friend!.. tasteful little hints of jazzy goodness sprinkled over like cinnamon 👌🏻🤩
Fantastic melodic and rhythmic ideas herein. Simple yet sophisticated.

This is helping my playing immensely! I'd love to get stuck into the world of Americana- what artists would you recommend listening to/transcribing?

You are an excellent rhythm player. Your time is impeccable. I'm focused on that more than the lessons right now.😂❤
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me! Timing is everything as they say 👌🏻

Very nice Alex…subtly delicious soloing!!
Cheers buddy, glad you liked it. Amazing how easy it is to make music out of simple triads. Beautiful
Very tasteful

Never a dud, cuz! So tasty.. . .
Thanks man, I appreciate that! 🙏🏻
It's got some slow dancing in a burning room in there
Not a fan of Mayer personally, but I’m sure we share some of the same influences 🤪

@@AlexFarranGuitar great stuff.
That's a nicely written out chord chart👍. Do you guys use the Nashville Number system at work ?
I use chord functions when mapping stuff out.. I believe that’s similar/the same as the “Nashville system”? 🤷🏻♂️
So was this for Sturgill's new album
Hehe, no, but I have had the pleasure of opening for him at a show! 😅

If I might ask, what Are the materials included in the gumroad on this one?
Sure thing buddy, so this includes the full transcriptions of my solos plus a type up of all of the triads, arpeggio and scale runs I speak about.
