Hands down the premiere guitar channel for enthusiasts, professionals, bar room brawlers, and for anyone that just wants to jump on board for a listen. I’m in the ‘enthusiast’ group but learning a lot with these in depth lessons and I’m also a Patreon subscriber which I highly recommend as the reference material for each lesson is extremely complimentary to the video. Another banger Alex, already looking forward to next week!
Thank you Dennis my good friend, your comment really means a lot! I’m so glad you enjoy the videos and the lessons.. your support is much appreciated 🙏🏻🧡
Thanks Alex for this vid. I’m new here, pushed by one of your students, for a reason ! Your pedagogic approach is interesting, playing and sound outstanding, pace and tone of your voice perfect for a non English, your studio is warm and welcome. Well, shorter : you have one more strong follower! 🙏
Another outstanding lesson Alex, your attention to detail is phenomenal The big takeaway for me here is to concentrate on smaller specific areas of the pentatonic boxes instead of all of them , cheers my friend 👍
One thing I love about your choice of songs is that they inevitably have ideas that show up in (relatively) newer more familiar stuff. That G F# Bm progression reminds me of “Hey” by Pixies.
Thanks buddy, I’m glad that comes through! I love all kinds of music and grew up playing in alternative rock bands. The Pixies are a life-long favourite of mine with “Doolittle” ranking in my top 25 albums for sure. 👍🏻🍻
@@9outof10 thanks man, it’s definitely on the horizon. Trying to find stuff that isn’t already heavily covered on RUclips. Was thinking maybe some Slint or Mogwai at some point soon and maybe onto some more obscure Radiohead, Pixies and Elliott Smith stuff also. 🤷🏻♂️
Thank you Alex! I have been listening to and playing blues for over 45 years and I learned things in this lesson that will improve my playing. The use of the staccatto and "little breath" notes in the phrasing is awesome! I have never read or heard anyone mention the concept of "getting the vibrato up to speed quickly", which is another revelation (and will require some practice!). You are the best!!
Thank you Alex! The care you put into these lessons and the attention to detail is hugely appreciated. Just signed up on Patreon, an absolute bargain. Cheers!
Great description for how to move between scale shapes while remaining in the same key. I know the CAGED system diatonic and pentatonic. But always have struggled to move between shapes staying in the same keys. Everyone is teaching the same thing, but speak it differently. You make sense. Thanks bro 😎
Thanks buddy, I appreciate the comment 🙏🏻 That is a tough question!.. overall I'd say the telecaster is my favourite electric guitar for sure, followed closely by the es335 and then probably the es125 archtop.
The part about using 2nd finger ascending and third finger descending (shape 1 to 2 or as some call it home base to Albert King box) is something I missed long ago. I breezed past it know realizing the issue it raised and am still struggling to over come it to this day.
It can surely be tricky to break out of bad habits, but you’ll get it overwritten with new muscle memory if you just keep repeating and repeating. Boring to practice but very beneficial in the long run! 👍🏻
Either works very nicely, but the dominant 7th is more typical in a minor blues and fit the lesson themes better.. (The idea with this one being to simplify and do a lot with very few notes).

Fun lesson and lots of great material in the Patreon package. Just taken a break from playing to the backing track on continuous loop.
Thanks Elliot!.. so glad you enjoyed it! Man, I was up til 4am working on that backing track so I’m glad you like it! 😂

Show!!!!!!!!Congratulations from Brazil.
Thanks buddy! 🙏🏻
That intro lick... so simple, so beautiful. Wish I could come up with something like that some time :D
Thank you my friend, I’m sure you can come up with something as good if not better! Just keep working at it 🙏🏻
Learning the five shapes is next on my list. I also need to think of scale degrees as I go, and not just "All these notes work!"
A really good thing to put your time into for sure. It always pays off in the end 👌🏻
What a fantastic video have a good weekend Alex also happy new year also what is your favorite guitar ❤😊

Amazing guitar playing. Exceptionally clean and beautiful blues lines and gorgeous vibratos! What a lesson!
Thanks so much! 🙏🏻 I always feel it’s so important to keep things clean and tidy from a teaching principle 👍🏻

My pleasure Amir, thanks for the comment 🙏🏻
If only I had a usable pinkie finger 😢. Great video.
Sorry to hear that buddy.. you can easily use the ring finger instead if needs be 👍🏻
Really Great Job Man ❤❤❤
Thanks my friend! Much appreciated 🙏🏻🧡
Loan me a Dime Fenton Robinsons version by Boz Scaggs with Duane Allman is another great minor blues....
That's a great record.. didn't remember that being a minor blues but will give it another listen later on! Thanks for the comment buddy 🙏🏻
Thanks Alex for sharing your amazing wealth of knowledge with us.
What Sunbear PAF model pickups were you using?
Thanks for the kind words my friend 🙏🏻
The Sunbears are the “Alex Hamilton” 59 PAF set 👌🏻
@@AlexFarranGuitar thanks 🙏🏻
Even an example tabs,I appreciate
My pleasure! 🙏🏻
Très jolie ❤❤❤
Thanks buddy! 🙏🏻
Curious why the g dominant chord works instead of using Gmaj7 since the latter is out of the harmonic minor scale?
I guess it’s more bluesy!
Either works very nicely, but the dominant 7th is more typical in a minor blues and fit the lesson themes better.. (The idea with this one being to simplify and do a lot with very few notes).
Holaaa! !! El metrónomo que velocidad lleva ? Gracias.
Hey buddy, 92bpm is the tempo. Backing track and all files are included with the lesson materials if that'd help too. 👍🏻
Hey Alex! Great stuff - what strap is that? I really like it.
Thanks man, it’s made by the fantastic Spanish company “Bluebell Straps”.. the model is called “The Desperado” 👌🏻
Thank you man!@@AlexFarranGuitar
