Ive been playing for about 43 years now and this fellow right here is the only player I would consider taking lessons from - not only is his playing and choice of lessons fantastic, his grammar and thoughts come through so well. This is the type of music I want to learn and incorporate my soloing into … impeccable player and gent, deal me in boys.
Parker
Thanks Parker, that’s very kind of you buddy. I really appreciate the comment and I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! 🙏🏻
In my guitar player dreams, my room is filled with scrumptious vintage guitars and amps but somehow always looks cozy and nice and neat. The sweet backing tracks appear out of thin air and I noodle along to my hearts content.
I also have a cool British accent and impeccable manners.
hehe thanks Brian.. you charmer! 😉 Really glad you enjoy the style/vibe of my channel! 🙏🏻
Very nice playing sir. It's a breath of fresh air in comparison to all the Stevie Ray Vaughan clones and super fast shredders.
Ah thank you so much, I'm glad you feel that way! Welcome to my channel! :)
Your channel is highly refreshing. It’s like a country drive, where you stumble on a hidden gem of a small cafe that others drive right by: the staff is welcoming, the ambiance is warm and the food is always great. We benefit from your very broad tastes. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it my friend! 🙏🏻🧡 So glad you found my channel!

Really glad you like it! Thanks for the kind words 🙏🏻
Hey, Alex. Another great lesson, in yet another great guitar "sub-genre" -- the "Motown Sound". Appreciate your emphasizing how those genre boundaries are highly porous, and the basic functional harmonies of Western music can make the classic licks from one genre, sound nice and fresh in another. (And Santa, if you're listening, all I want for Christmas is a nice old telecaster.)
Rock on!
Thanks Eric, I'm so glad you enjoyed this one! And yes you're absolutely on my wavelength regarding the boundary-less approach to western guitar playing! Man, you know what, a student of mine picked up one of the Fender Vintera Telecasters for very cheap and it's honestly a fantastic guitar.. took me by surprise! I've given it a good setup and now it plays as well as any other tele I've played! 👌🏻
Great lesson! So happy to stumble across this lesson. You are an excellent musician and teacher!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻

Killin brother. The breadth of your skill and knowledge is really something. Ernest ranglin! I remember being at a resort in Jamaica, a million years ago and the dude in the function band every night which was really just a quartet was absolutely burning and I asked the bartender “who is that guitar player” and he was like, “oh mon- dat’s Ernie Ranglin! he’s the best guitar player on dee whole island, mon.” His words-said in exactly that way. He was a super sweet dude too. I was a fan ever since and scarfed up any ernest ranglin recordings i could find.
oh man, that's amazing!! What a great way to discover that man's amazing style! I was lucky to see him playing a jazz festival way back in the early 2000's and his whole relaxed vibe was just something to behold! Thanks for the kind words man, I really appreciate it 🍻

This is so tastey I had to purchase and download! Working on it now, and grateful for the tab. And playing along with the backing track really makes the whole sound come together. Thanks for composing this Motown Masterpiece Alex - you're a Guitar God of the highest order! (I'm also really diggin' Jimmie's Blues). I bow to your skills!

Lot of thanks Alex for another top quality video… lot of tools and idea to embellish our soloing ! Some licks make me think about the guitar part of Steely Dan songs … I’m a big fan of this band ! Between jazz rock and country and folk ! Too much good choices of lessons on your channel Alex..👍🙏

Great lesson, so glad I found this channel, subscribed. 😊
Ah thanks man, I really appreciate that! Welcome aboard! 🙏🏻🍻
I am finally learning the theory behind all of those basic chords I learned 40 years ago. I feel like I learned how to drive but never learned how to get anywhere. Your lessons are like learning how to read a map. Very inspirational. Thank you!
That’s so good to hear! Thank you for leaving a comment. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the lessons my friend. 🙏🏻🧡
This is the best video outlining this soul/blues funk style. Double stops, triads, chromatic approach, the cage system. I use prob half these ideas and processes, but this has sort of filled the gaps! A few years ago I wouldn’t have been able to follow and process it so fast. Cause I know neck and these triads I can add it in. Can’t thank you enough!!
That's so good to hear! Thanks for the comment buddy, really happy you enjoyed the video! 🙏🏻
Great lesson! Aside from the comprehensive information, I love how you relate it to other ideas like the CAGED System for example. Also, really enjoy your relaxed teaching style. You just casually go to the heart of the matter without repeating yourself and put it over in understandable chunks. Excellent playing too! Many thanks. :)
Ah thank you so much for the kind words! Really glad you enjoyed the lesson buddy 🙏🏻🧡
Ha!!! I love how you thru in some Ernest Ranglin!!!! Best guitarist out of Jamaica ever!!!!! One of my heroes!!!
Great to meet another Ernest Ranglin fan! Cheers! 🍻

Thanks! Great job! Sounds so cool!🙏
Thanks buddy 🙏🏻
Bravo! What a lesson, dam! had to stop at 18 mins cuz it gave me so many ideas of how to practice new phrasing with double stops/ triads, side stepping, and flavorfully using passing tones to land on the upcoming chord tones, great explanation and flow in your delivery. Thx u
Man, I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying the lessons and they're inspiring new ideas/approaches.. that's what it's all about. Keep up the hard work buddy :)
Sweet playing Sir..!!!❤
