Love Steve Lawson and pray for his repentance and restoration and healing for his family. We don't judge because we all sin and fall short of God's glory. Pray pray pray.
This was so well presented. Thank you. I was very down after I heard the news, as I also love Steve as a brother. You gave insight that we all need to step back and look at. God bless you, and may God bless Steve Lawson. I hope God restores him in a beautiful way.
Unfortunately, I believe he should just remain out of leadership and be a regular congregant. There's definitely forgiveness but he no longer meets the standard of a leader.
Correct. People are all saying things like "we're all human", "we all sin", and "every man is just a man", but the Bible gives very clear, explicit qualifications for pastor/elder. I pray Lawson will repent and continue his walk with the Lord, but as far as his role in ministry goes, he is disqualified and done for. He can follow Christ as a layperson like the rest of us and we will all battle with flesh until the end, but he broke very specific rules about what a qualified man looks like for church leadership. If someone doesn't like that, they can take it up with God.
In the New Testament, no one was given the formal title "Pastor." Leadership in the early church was shared among elders, overseers, and apostles, with an emphasis on mutual service rather than hierarchy. The Greek word for "pastor" (poimen) appears only once in Ephesians 4:11, where it refers to a spiritual gift, not a formal office or title. The early church gatherings were Spirit-led, with various members contributing as they were led by the Holy Spirit, rather than being centered around a single individual in authority. When someone today calls themselves "Pastor" and assumes a dominant role, it can create an inappropriate relationship, shifting the focus away from the participatory and Spirit-led nature of the early church. This can lead to a hierarchy that diminishes the equal standing of all believers and neglects the New Testament’s model of collective, Spirit-led worship.
This is so sad, it truly is. I can only imagine his wife and children. But He preached the Gospel, His message was always pointing to Christ and for us christians this is a huge reminder that men will fail, Satan is after us and after those who choose to be leaders. I fervently pray many pastors see this and have a wake up call to exposit the Word which is the only thing that guard the Sheep of Christ of falling away and shield us from attaching our faith to our leaders and pastors.
Unfortunately many approach this matter with such immature mind that they forget there are many Davids in the Church. Men after God's heart but with deep-seated iniquity that in their lives which is not dealt with because they are busy with there ministry ~ that the moment they are not at "the battle ground and remain at home" the enemy strucks with full force to break them and put them to shame. God, in order to save His servants, allows them to face their sin they have been trying to bury in order to save their souls. Those that gloat over this are just immature folks. This, in my view, in accordance to the reaction of the local Church removing him from the ministry until the fully repentance is achieved, is the strength of the Church, not a defeat. God always restores His servants who, like David acknowledge their sin before God and repent in all holiness. This is not the end of Lawson, but rather a warning that life is spiritual and we are at war with the devil and can be badly wounded in that battle.
I have learned everything from Steve Lawson. He is a great expositor of the faith. We don't know what actually happened. He made a mistake. No of us are free from sin. Show him some grace. Prayers for him, his family, Trinity Bible Church & whoever else is involved.

Thank you for this, because the last ten years have been a Psalm 2:11 exhortation and admonition that I fear many Christians are not recognizing as a warning to all of us. I don't believe we ever fully recovered after the truth about Ravi Zacharias, and based on the way Christians on RUclips have verbally and publicly addressed the flaws and/or failings of Pastors since, it seems like the Lord is trying to make us see through the ripple effect, how our allegiances to men will fail us every time. Is this a hit on Lawson? No. But the moment I heard of his situation, I was shocked, saddened, and then reminded about how angry I became when he and others attacked Alistair Begg, and for every RUclips influencer who attacked or judged Alistair I replied, "check the log in your eye." My statement isn't about measuring sin, but it is about our spiritual guilt, blindness and yes, even hypocrisy. That Lawson is now standing in the pit he and others tried to toss Begg in, I can't help but wonder how will the other Pastors treat him, and will the grace that he no doubt will receive flow over on to Alistair Begg, a man whose choices may have been wrong, but clearly well-intentioned, yet brought out the worst in all the Pastors during that time, and Lawson was one of them. Is it surprising that some of us can look at Alistair and Steve, see these men who love the Lord, recognize their failings, and still love them without having to attack them the way many RUclips influencers did earlier this year with Begg and a few others? It shouldn't be. It's what we were called to do, yet what has been witnessed in the past year or so, confirmed not only the hypocrisy of those called to teach and guide us, but the hypocrisy within ourselves. I don't think the teaching is over, because until we begin recognizing the sins at the pulpit as our own, and that the need for prayer and true accountability to and for the Pastor comes from the pews, Pastors as something outside themselves, when in fact, their failing(s) will always be our failing(s), calling for the Christian to take another lap around the mountain.
I called my husband at work this morning and wept over this. Dr. Lawson has had a tremendous impact on my family and our walk with Christ. I am praying for him, his family, and his ministry. This has spurred me on to be in prayer more often for my home church’s shepherds.

Honest question, a very sincere humble question. Do we as believers need to amplify this? And by this I mean every leader who falls or fails? “Tell it not in Gath.”
Or rather, God exposed it. As to whether or not former pastor Lawson has ever had God's love (that is to say, the love He has for His children), this is not certain.
If ADAM AND EVE sinned even with all their perfections and the chance to see God in person, then WHO we are to judge? We are Sad, but we have to go on living.
indeed, this is shocking but let's be reminded that the 'heart is desperately wicked' and it calls for vigilance - if such men can fall, what of us? this is not a time for self-righteous judgement but for self-watchfulness and prayer for those who have fallen - we are kept and preserved by grace - the fall of others can bring out of a sense of moral spiritual superiority - take heed lest you fall !!!!!!!
It’s not the end of the world if a man stops being a preacher for crowds . He can possibly more effective once he recovers from this if he is honest and open with this sin.people put people up as God and no one is God
Well, a decent chunk of my congregation has been in the faith for 40-50 years, so that naturally puts me in the position of recognizing my 16-17 years is not all that long.
This was a thoughtful, faithful call to examine ourselves, just as Paul tells us to do. I would say, however, that we can end on a more hopeful note because forgiveness of sins is at the very heart of the Gospel. Do we know what God will do here? No. But we can delight in God’s sovereignty and trust in His plan. This has been heavy on my heart all day. But we can take comfort in praying to the God of the universe for those, such as Dr. Lawson and his family, whom we love.
Examine yourselves? Know you not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, unless you are counterfeits? A Christian cannot commit sin. 1 John 3:9: Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his nature remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. What is the result of this examination? COUNTERFEITS ! You have your church, your favorit pastors, the right doctrine. What about Christ in you?
@@bernhardbauer5301 Sir, have you read Romans? Romans 7:21-25 [21] So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. [22] For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, [23] but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. [24] Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? [25] Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. Look at David Abraham Isaac Peter Every other disciple who abandoned Christ when He was arrested. Christians do indeed sin on this side of Heaven. But we are forgiven, and we can turn to Christ with joy.
Taken from: Ligonier Ministries ⭐️Peter’s journey in the Gospels mirrors our own Christian walk. We see his genuine desire to follow Christ faithfully, even when he faltered. ⭐️I’m sure Peter looked back with regret when he fell short, especially when he denied Jesus. Yet, the Lord was not finished with him. As we see at the end of John’s gospel and in the book of Acts, Jesus continued to mold him, restoring Peter to ministry and using him to help establish the church. ⭐️Peter’s story reminds us that Christ’s mercy is greater than our failures. Like him, we are graciously being molded in our Master’s hands. The same Lord who transformed Peter is at work in His people today. ⭐️Amazingly, Jesus uses you and me in that transformation work as He changes us and forms us in ways to minister to others. ******************** I also looked up “the rod and the staff” of the Lord❣️ It’s a very interesting study. It explains how Christ deals with His children.
Falling into temptation is not a surprise. I will be more surprised if he did not confessed his sin despite the conviction of the HS, and no repentance. He did right in confessing and the local church leaders giving the right disciplinary action. We all have to remind ourselves that the bible is full of examples of God’s chosen people falling into temptation. The difference is the attitude of the heart,do we continue in that specific sin without repenting..or do we turn away from it by confessing when the HS convicts us and ask for forgiveness and restoration and healing from our Lord and Saviour as well as from our loved ones and church.🙏❤️

It’s better I feel not to discuss and publish in social media when a leader/pastor of any church commits sexual sins. Just don’t publish or discuss shut him up and wait for his repentance because we all are open to same sins. Better not to malign the name of Jesus with unbelievers.
I just don’t understand the weeping and sorrow over this man’s sin. Why do so many feel sorry for him or at least getting so emotional?? All I can say is it seems like many had a measure of faith in this man and his theology than truly in Christ alone. A wake-up call for the reformed church I’d say
Because they worship him and not Jesus Christ. They worship Ray Comfort, John MacArthur, Voddie Bauchum and so on rather than Jesus Christ. Funny thing is all of these men have been deceiving souls for years now.

For some reason, I've seen/heard the name Billy Graham more than once in and around this. Might want to check out a book called Billy Graham and His Friends: A Hidden Agenda by Dr Cathy Burns.
I really think part of the problem is this unbiblical idea of a single Pastor. Church leadership should consist of a more than one elder or pastor. All elders are Pastors and all pastors are elders. We need to stop elevating men.

No surprise to God …we should not put men on pedestals …this NEVER puts a black mark on Gods word ( which is what you said🤷🏻♀️)keep looking to Christ..Gods words has not been effected whatsoever . Don’t you realized that this was used of God for Steve’s good..so don’t keep trying to figure out why this had to come to pass. I have been walking with the Lord for over 50 years..the Bible is riddled with all kind of failures of mankind. With good reason. Gods ways are higher then our ways! God uses Satan as a pawn. The sin nature is too powerful. Sooner or later Christians mess up. It's a fact becoming a believer in Christ does not eliminate the sin nature. people should not be put up on a pedestal. Mature Christians realize this. I'm a Grace Christian. I look only to Christ. My fellow man is my fellow sinner. Nothing man does should surprise us.

Calvinism is just sick. A demonic lie that blasphemes God. Jesus did not come only to save the precious few Calvinists ... THE BIBLE says he came for THE WHOLE WORLD. We don't know that yet. If we had looked David when he fell and sinned severely against the LORD when he committed adultery with Bathsheba and killed Uriah, it would have been hard to look at him at that time and find fruit of his nearness to God let alone a relationship with Him at all. And yet we know David was a man after God's own heart and it's fair to say that David finished his race well and thus persevered. And we don't know about Lawson's relationship with God at this point because we don't have the gift of hindsight like we do David, that much is true. We can only hope and pray that this fall is not one that leads to his destruction and eternal separation from God and that God works this out for good with all parties involved. And none of this is to diminish what has been done to Lawson's family and other parties involved. This is a disgusting stain and his church, by my understanding, has removed him from leadership as they should. I know this answer may have been more than what you asked or cared to hear and for all I know your question could have been a sarcastic one. But if for nothing else but to prove to you there is a biblical answer to this question I responded. God be with you.

Honest question, a very sincere humble question. Do we as believers need to amplify this? And by this I mean every leader who falls or fails? “Tell it not in Gath.”
God is in control, God knew it , it did not surprise Him, God still love pastor Steve Lawson.
@@soniascott1900 Steve’ believes his god decreed all. Hopefully he will reject this reformed Calvinist deity and turn to JesusThe Messiah
Or rather, God exposed it. As to whether or not former pastor Lawson has ever had God's love (that is to say, the love He has for His children), this is not certain.
This is very balanced and very helpful. Thank you for reminding us (me) of the many admonitions in Hebrews.
I am a sinner standing with Dr.Lawson.

How is 16/17 years as a Christian a young Christian?
1 John 3:9:
Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his nature remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
What is the result of this examination?
COUNTERFEITS !
You have your church,

What about Christ in you?
@@bernhardbauer5301 Sir, have you read Romans?
Romans 7:21-25
[21] So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand.
Look at David
Abraham
Isaac
Peter
Every other disciple who abandoned Christ when He was arrested. Christians do indeed sin on this side of Heaven. But we are forgiven, and we can turn to Christ with joy.

⭐️Peter’s journey in the Gospels mirrors our own Christian walk.

I also looked up “the rod and the staff” of the Lord❣️
It’s a very interesting study.
Prayers for the woman involved and her family and husband or boyfriend. She needs to repent.
This is very similiar to the Roman practice of "Damnatio Memoriae" but in life.
Weird.

Good place to start is chech that TULIP stuff. Nobody tought that before middle ages. More in Soteriology101. Blessings anyway.

Because they worship him and not Jesus Christ. They worship Ray Comfort, John MacArthur, Voddie Bauchum and so on rather than Jesus Christ. Funny thing is all of these men have been deceiving souls for years now.
Yeah he came across as a know it all and arrogant especially around Calvinism. Well I guess God decreed this? It’s a bad joke I know but honestly how can his theology hold up in light of this scandal?? Is he still a persevering saint? Maybe “answers” and “systematic theologies” these guys obsess over ain’t worth much. I hope he learns from his mistake and it’s sad
Galatians 6:1. This is why. Jesus wept over sin, and yet He chose to love us despite our spiritual decay and death. We ought to go and do likewise.
For some reason, I've seen/heard the name Billy Graham more than once in and around this. Might want to check out a book called Billy Graham and His Friends: A Hidden Agenda by Dr Cathy Burns.
Billy Graham to me was a Freemason or at least it seems very likely.
I really think part of the problem is this unbiblical idea of a single Pastor. Church leadership should consist of a more than one elder or pastor. All elders are
Pastors and all pastors are elders.
We need to stop elevating men.

Our Savior was not surprised. This was all in His plan to purge out the dross from Peter…and we ALL have dross. Ever depending on our God and not our own “strength “

By definition Calvinism twists the scriptures because ALL, EVERY, THE WORLD etc. never mean ALL, EVERY, THE WORLD unless it suites the Gnostisism.
Calvinism blasphemes God and denies Christ's work.
@@phillipaj.5588 God very plainly and clearly gives man the choice to follow him or not, to believe or not. The disgusting theologies of reformed calvinism are just another cult usurping scripture for their own means.
Sola de own it or not!
Does that mean he is not one of the elect because he did not persevere unto the end?
