My wife and I have been attending Trinity Bible since this last January. We literally just signed up for church membership the day before we found out about Lawsons “inappropriate relationship.” What troubles me is that it seems like some of these issues have been brushed under the rug by the elders. We still went to church last Sunday and the elders response was not very comforting or compassionate. It was brief and more focused on moving forward. Where do we go from here? My first response is to stay the course and trust Christ to lead us, but how do we know if the elders are actually handling this appropriately?? From my perspective it seems like they are protecting him more than helping us and the congregation heal.
Be patient brother. Your pastors are going through a lot. Yes trust Christ who is not only leading you, but building His church. Encourage your elders with that very promise that Christ is going to build His church (Matt 16:18), with or without Steve Lawson, just as He has been doing for over 2,000 years. Thank them for their care and let them know you are praying for them. Fight the temptation towards conspiracy but abide in the truth. Remind yourself of 1Tim 5:24 that the the sins of some men go before them and some follow after. Lawson's sin will be exposed to the degree God wants the world to know.

praying for your church my brother. May this be a turning point in TBC to focus on godly men not merely gifted men. Godly men who preach a foolish message of the cross so that we can say with Paul "where is the wise man, where is the debater of this age?" (1Cor 1:18-21). God uses these kinds of men: "but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong" (1Cor 1:26-27). Common and godly men are whom God will use.
And that’s why Gods Word says we should never put our Trust in men but GOD alone. Man will fail as we still carry the unredeemed flesh and we all are susceptible to sin but GOD never fails us. REMAIN IN THE VINE. It is very disappointing however was there a single man chosen by GOD since the fall of man in the garden of Eden ever remained sinless??? NOT ONE starting from first man ADAM until today. We put our faith and Trust in CHRIST ALONE.

I go to a church in England and the time of my morning and evening services and the time difference between England and America ebables me to fit your service in between and if I miss for any reason I can. catch up on video. Churches where the Word of God is faithfully preached are not always easy to find. Be encouraged! The Lord will build His church and the gates of helll will not prevail against it. I pray you will feel more settled in the coming days. This has been a shock for those of us who have listened to Steven Lawson's excellent ministry but man can fail and this has been extremely sad but the Word of our God shall stand forever. I have watched around a dozen videos regarding this situation. I have to say this is by far the best one because it doesn't have anything in it that will even remotely sound like gossip but sees this situation strictly in a biblical view.
Phil Johnson said Steve Lawson and his women friend said there had not been any intimate sexual sin. It is hard to review the matter because things are not clear. I think to prevent individuals from entering into untruthful conversations and therefore defiling themselves. The elders, or Steve himself, should standup and give an honest laying out, of the matter.
Yes, in due time the Lord will discipline those whom he loves. For now pray for Lawson's repentance, his wife, the other woman, his family, for his church, and for your own soul that you not fall into the same.
The anger and sadness is normal. Steven Lawson has failed, but the gospel will never fail. NEVER. NO ONE is above a fall like this. There’s your take heed ladies and gentlemen. Keep trusting Christ don't trust preachers. Study the Bible and keep it. Look to Christ alone. Don't even trust in your local church but only to Christ. I'm not saying not to submit to a local church or be a member of a local church. Stay on the reformed teaching not on the reformed preacher.

Thank you for posting. Yes the standard is high for Christians. The standard is even higher for Christian pastors. See Titus 1:6-9, 1Tim 3:2, and 2Tim 2:22 and James 3:1. Christians are to fear God more than to fear man, which means at least this: we obey God's standards not man's.
To all the passive sheep who need men to tell them what to believe, what to do, what not to do, etc etc...STOP LISTENING TO MEN!!! Read Joh 16:13 & 1 John 2:27. It's all there, written down for believers.......learn from THE HOLY SPIRIT....not men. You can hear them out, BUT compare everything they say against scripture and pray for clarity and the Spirit of Truth will teach you and lead you INTO ALL TRUTH. He rejects what he calls "easy believism", yet he himself sinned bigtime. Woe unto those who reject simple belief in Jesus and have eternal life and at the same time sin. 1 Corinthians 10:12. Also, I'm tired of these church boards that are humongous hypocrites. Instead on admitted that a sin has been committed by a pastor that is held to a higher standard, to face the consequences of his sin; they treat him as a more important person than others. I said that in the beginning and in the end of the video. More men will fail. More preachers will fall. More Christian preachers will fail. BUT, the church isn't built by Christian preachers.
