I spent 3 weeks traveling all over South Africa and it is a beautiful country. We rented a car in Durban after visiting Johannesburg and drove along the coast (Garden Route) to Cape Town. Stopped over night in Plenttenberg Bay and highly recommend it. I also recommend a visit to an Ostrich farm and a Winery one of the Stellenbosch vineyards!!
Tip from someone who lives here: If you want to drive to the top of signal hill for the sunset (especially in summer), get there early. There’s close to no parking up there and the road isn’t wide enough to handle two directions of traffic when people start parking on the side. Want my advice? Take the sightseeing bus on a sunset trip. Yeah, it’s more expensive than driving yourself - but you will experience an amazing view on the way up (and down) and you won’t have to worry about traffic jams, parking or missing the sunset at all. Also: the bus starts and finishes at the Waterfront, where there is plenty of underground parking for a low rate - as well as easy access to major freeways when you need to leave.
This seems to be a very charming city, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!
Ich bin in Kapstadt geboren und aufgewachsen und ich muss sagen, dass dein Video auf jeden Fall ein schönes nostalgisches Gefühl hinterlassen hat, Danke 😊 #MaxNomad
You havnt explored the West Coast. Im born and bred in Cape Town and now living in the UK. My advise is do all of the above and as an extra, go explore the west coast. Beautiful places like Paternoster, Ysterfontein. Langebaan, etc, etc......you wont be dissapointed.
The craft shops and restaurants in Observatory. Ditto the upper parts of Long Street. The Labia cinema is a treat - special old fashioned cinema with lovely garden and superb films. The many theatres in great settings - Theatre on the Bay and the Baxter being just 2 of them. World class orchestral performances at the historic City Hall, a brief walk from the historic Good Hope Castle which is a great visit in itself. The street markets around the City.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I also can't wait to finally travel again. In the mean time I'll continue uploading my videos from last year and kind of reliving the travel experiences that way.
Superbly researched, Max! You correctly featured several fine details which many videos of this sort would get wrong-for instance, that Cape Point is the southwesternmost tip of Africa, not the southernmost. Also, you correctly stated that Nelson Mandela was imprisoned on Robben Island from 1964 to 1982-18 years, but for the rest of his 27 years of imprisonment he was held elsewhere. Impressive, and very well done!
Amazing video. I visited cape town last year for 15 days. I highly recommend the table mountain hike. The view is stunning. Hike up the mountain and go down by cable car paying half of the price. Lion's head hike was the highlight of the trip. I took some amazing pictures of the twelve apostles from up there.
Excellent overview from Cape Town, that is one from the best Clips and very authentic done! You need to watch it, I by my own live there several years , having lots of good remembering when I had watch that clip.
Great video! Although I don’t quite agree with you when you say the hike up to the Lions Head is a “easy hike”. Some parts include very vertical sections where you have to climb and use ladders. Although it is defiantly worth it!
I laughed when he said that because I only made it up there with some help from a very strong guy who kept pulling me up the rocks. 😂😂😂 I wanted to quit few times but when I finally got up there, it was really worth it
@@tracywalker244 Hi there have booked your ticket yet ? Im in Cape Town and the month you planning (October) is the best time as its not as busy with tourist then .All the best enjoy your upcoming visit , just be alert not to relaxed but its safer if you are.

Love your video. Do you think this year in July-August 2021 it will be possible to travel by with my family? I try to followup on COVID-19 but don't know if there will be restrictions. I'm willing to come by since we will do the test and everything
I live in the city centre and we have 24hour patrolling security guards on roads.Various apps that indicates alerts directly to law enforcement by a tap of a button.Which is very efficient.I know there's statistics but those reports are mainly in rural areas that are 40km outside the City Centre. These reports has declined drastically due to structures that was enforced by SAPS.
Is there still load shedding in 2023? Beautiful country but the power grid leaves slot to be desired, unless of course you enjoy living in the 1800's for half the day.
Things not to do in Cape Town: fly a drone without written permission. It's illegal to fly a drone in South Africa inside of 50m of a road and inside of any national parks. Also, it's REALLY annoying.
Good point! The closest spots to Cape Town for shark diving are Gansbaai and Simon's Town. Dyer Island in Gansbaai has one of the densest white shark populations in the world.
Hi Max, am a local. Please just note that the Cape of Good Hope is not the southernmost tip of Africa/South Africa, that is Cape Agulhas, about 200kms east of Cape Town
Man i’ve always wanted to go to Cape Town. Its my nr.1 place to ever go in my life. The whole place looks sooooo good. But the only thing that holds me from going there is my family. They have the stereotype and expectations of Africa and thinking that they would be stabbed for a dollar there and that their safety isn’t secure. Yes i know that South Africa has a crime rate and has some dangerous places. But then my answer is always. Then don’t go to those dangerous areas. Same with other cities like NYC. For example the Bronx. If the Bronx is dangerous. Then don’t go there. Its not like that you go to NewYork to specifically concern the whole time that you go to a dangerous place that you don’t go to. Its stupid now ya think about it. If you just live the life like everyone else in the city then its the most normal day in your life. Look i know that Capetown has some crime areas or areas with crime like Mitchells Plains. But yeah you don’t go there specifically so why concerning. Btw the airport is in some places that i also don’t recommend. But you drive away from there to the city center so dont worry.
