- Ok so we rreeeaallly didn’t want to leave Cape Town. It has got to be one of the most beautiful cities on earth. The weather was absolutely perfect, the food was world class and the guest house we stayed in was dreamy.
This is the first of two films we made whilst in South Africa, our road trip film is coming soon! We were extremely grateful for this much sun in November.

I live in Cape town and even I was like, damn, I wish I lived there. Unfortunately most of these experiences are for tourists. Locals cant afford this shit. Great job guys, you made it look amazing!

Yeah, that’s not totally fair! I’ve been to Silo, Orphanage, Gorgeous George (hate the service tho lol), Lion’s Head, Jason’s & Clarke’s. I don’t like sushi, but everyone knows Willough’s is bomb. The face painting restaurant is 👌🏻🤣 rubbish food!
I know right, I was like damn, been living here for years, had to find out about these places on RUclips.

As a Belgian, it baffles me how a foodie from London can only find out about speculoos in late 2019 in Africa.

I’ve watched other videos where they’re pretty open about saying if they thought a restaurant/bar/hotel wasn’t worth visiting or if the food wasn’t good (which I personally appreciate!) so it makes me wonder how “average” that restaurant must’ve been for them to not even want to share the name of it 😰
It was called Africa Cafe. In our other films we have called out restaurants for being bad or rude service etc. However, at the Africa Cafe all the team were so lovely but the food just didn't match up so we didn't make a big feature of it in the film. It was quite a touristy place and we just couldn't recommend the food. We went into 'I love Dough' just to wash the face paint off - their pizza is actually pretty great.
You have denied people the chance to see the true african cuisine in its beauty and uniqueness. You call it average because it is different from the kind of glam you are used to. That restuarant represents the real soul of Africa. I guess you are not so open minded after all.
Now I have got to go to Africa Cafe!
Next time go to spur/wimpy/primi piati/saddles/kfc/mc donalds... because that is what the average consumer can afford maybe once a month if lucky. places like Africa cafe is for tourists that come with normally being overpriced. Want a real experience? ask the locals what to do and where to go. I can guarantee that you will enjoy it!
Africa cafe is basically an African "theme park" experience. Not many locals go there because its cringe.

Wow lived just North of Cape Town and every time I went into Cape Town I would go for the same generic restaurants, never again. I was so excited to see you guys come to Cape Town after discovering your channel about 1-2 months ago. You guys make killer content, always finding the most "Out there" restaurants and food. Keep up the good content and Cape Town welcomes you anytime.

Friends of mine stay in Cape Town, visit them at least once per year, and this is definitely the luxury and very small part of Cape Town very few actually visit and use. There is so much more to see...
well, if you are looking for budget hotels and cheap food, you are in the wrong section of travel vids here, try kara and nate, they might be more up your alley

We went to I Love Dough to wipe my face-paint off, which they kindly allowed. However the place we didn't show was Africa Cafe.

What does the planning process look like for you guys, pre-trip?
Rachael Swerdon We gather a load of recommendations from friends, family and our instagram followers. This list is massive but we then whittle it down to the places we’re most excited about. We put a lose itinerary together but mostly just freestyle on the day!
Just find your channel a few day ago...Subscribed, your content is just amazing, looking forward for more videos after the Covid19 situation is over. This channel should have at least 1mil followers.

Good video but a bit disappointing to see no South African specialty (biltong, chakalaka, sosaties). It's too bad to go to Cape Town to eat Benedict eggs or sushi. It would have also been nice to see restaurants where the clientele is a bit more "mixed".
FACTS! The worst is coming to Africa and just doing tourist places like beach cafes and cocktail bars. Eggs benedict and burgers guys come on so western. Why didn't they go to a braai place and have boerewors,chakalaka,Ouma se brood. Potjiekos. Or a dish of Umnqusho even! I mean so many other great traditional dishes can be found in Cape Town.

High guy's, did you know that back in the summer, Lidl were baking fresh, several times a day, 'CROLLS' which were round, slightly domed and a cross between a croissant and a bread roll and............I cheated and used M&S southern fried chicken to make a chicken burger, I have to say they were great and very, very similar to what you were eating.....love the films.
These boys seriously never disappoint! Quality material every time!

You were lucky to get here when you did, the covid pandemic has shut down Cape Town and SA hard! You can't buy alcohol, can't buy cigarettes, restaurants aren't allowed to open to full capacity. The bar you went to, Clarke's? Closed down. Jason's? Closed down. We're screwed... Great vid and channel, btw!
