My first apartment was a large studio on Marion Ave, near Fordham Road in the Bronx. Yes, it had a sunken livingroom with a curved wrought iron handrail. That was 1983, and it was $257 per month.
@@blackcommunion3820 Yes, only $257.00. I was pregnant with my son at the time, and my job at the NY Public Library (Fordham Branch) was across the street. My 4 windows looked straight into the office. When I went home for lunch, my coworkers used to wave at me. My place had an eat-in kitchen, dressing room, foyer and 3 closets. It was an Art Deco style building.
My very first Bronx apartment was a studio, on Marion Avenue, near Fordham Road. It had a foyer with 2 closets, a built in bookcase, and was big enough for a bistro table. It had an eat-in kitchen with a vegetable cooler built into the wall. There was a 5' x 5' dressing room with a linen closet, that I walked through, to very to the bathroom. There was a large sunken livingroom, and hardwood flooring and picture frame moulding throughout the place. That was 1983, and my rent was $257 per month. In 1990, I left NYC, and moved around the country quite a bit since then. In December 2020, I was in the Bronx and walked down my old block. It was rundown, dirty and full of trash on the sidewalk and in the street. The NY Public Library where I used to work, was closed down, and replaced with a newer building a couple of blocks away. There were tons of people with bags of cans and bottles, at a smelly redemption center, and a dead rat on the sidewalk 2 does down from my old building. My heart was broken, and I fought back tears, as I mourned what once was a beautiful neighborhood full of splendor. If this is what parts of the North Bronx has "evolved" to, it's no wonder beautiful apartments like this one on the Grand Concourse, have been hard to rent out. Rents in the Bronx are catching up to Manhattan, and no one can afford to live in a dumpy block, unless they have rental assistance.

An air conditioning unit cost approximately $99 for 5000 btus. I have this exact apt. only 2 bedrooms & huge sunken living room. My con Edison bill is about $110 monthly! Bldgs🍎 built 80 years ago didn't have central air! 🏠💅🏾
You can get the in window AC and have it installed correctly..Just need to know the room measurements for the BTUs and to prevent blackouts due to voltage
I always smile when I see the word "huge" in an apartment description because (1) it's from a rental agent, and (2) it's New York City. This one has a good sized living area and the kitchen has space for a table and/or much-needed supplementary counter, though it lacks a dishwasher. It appears to have been completely redone, so I expect it was rented promptly.
I see this apartment posted so many times on Craigslist on other websites are you telling me somebody to this day still hasn't moved in I smell a scam
The price is ridiculous for the area
Same here I that may someone died in it . Why it still on the Market?..?.
Facts!!! It is.
As someone else mentioned, maybe someone died there. Haunted apartment, hence why no one wants in? 🤔
People keep moving out, it is on the first floor sop your windows are always covered, crooks can climb in, and man, the noise
Why didn't you open the door to the closet so we can see the space inside
Thirsty landlords scamming the Bronx!
Why put up a video if u never answer and we don't even know how to contact you ot the companu
