- This is a showcase of a pre-built image for the GPi Case that comes fully loaded. It is pre-configured with the safe shut-down script, screen, sound and buttons scripts, and I have included simple instructions for setting up WiFi before you even unmount the sd card from the computer. Thanks for watching!
NOTE: if the controls are not working right away for you, press and hold the up button on the dpad and press select for 5 seconds. This changes from analog to digital. GPi case light should turn purple and your controls should work.

Just downloaded your 32GB image and SNES is running like a champ. Thank you for all that you do! I also liked and subbed. #Respect
Thanks for putting this image out there...just got my gpi case and installed the image no problems..easy set up ..Love it ,Thanks!!
Works perfectly. It saved me since there was a delay on the Pi Zero W I ordered. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the image and support provided in the comments!
We really appreciate the hard work you have put in here. You earned a sub. Be well
just installed on mine - everything worked perfectly - thanks!
This is the Best GPI image on ArcadePunks....I tried them all. Most contain unplayable systems (Vectrex) and very small fonts. This contains systems and games that work great on the GPI. Love that you included EZ hack Toolkit. Fantastic Job Restalgia!!!
WOW what an awesome image mate, I hope it's still well seeded!
Thank you I was hoping something like this would come out I really appreciate it
Holy crap this is amazing! Box art and everything
Been using this exclusively on my GPI, it's amazing, good job boys and girls.
I'm really happy to hear you like it. Enjoy it brother!
Restalgia Am I the only one who has disturbing strange background noise?
I can‘t enjoy the game music.
Thank you. Looks like a great image. Now if I can ever purchase a GPi I will download the image to take a look at.
Awesome video thx for the hard work man :) I was lookin for an easy image :)
Good job, I also chose the gbz35-dark theme for mi project, for me it is the best of the RetroPie officers for GPi Case. The music on the menu so loud is unpleasant, but at least it can be easily removed. A great contribution for those who do not know how to mess with the GPi Case, although for my taste all of Mame's are missing and Atari ST.
Just loaded this image and I love it!!!
Ok, no worries - thanks again, absolutely amazing
I love you... in a purely platonic way, but it's love nevertheless. After hours of tinkering with retropie's original img files + wi-fi I couldn't get anything to work properly, but this worked flawlessly!
Excellent image thank you!
I just ordered my GPi case and all the other parts to put this thing together. Your image is the icing on the cake I'm looking for. Thank you so much! Btw, can I add MAME into this?
Thank you, just got my GPi case yesterday.
Have you a link for this ?
@@maxmixer Please use Restalgia's link in the description above. amzn.to/2FaxIyk
Thank you for your response your image works great 👍 cheers
Love it I’ve installed it today and straight to mario all stars on snes only because I still have my Mario all stars snes all boxed up lol but it doesn’t work ffs lol gutted.... but still an awesome setup so thanks for all the work you guys put in to it.
Change the emulator. Works perfect on mines now
I have a question, have you ever used one of the charge power banks that have the retro video games on them ? If so what would you recommend?
BRUUHHHHHHHH this is nuts!! the video doesn't do it any justice. the fade out into a game launching is madd!! where can i donate.
Hey man, share like and subscribe to the channel is the best way to help me out. But if you'd like to donate you can do it at paypal.me/restalgia :)
@@Restalgia done done and doneskee. Keep up the solid work.
I finally got it all together and working. It's amazing. But, now that the WiFi is set up. How would I add more games or even movies to this? Thanks so much Restalgia.
How do we add MAME if we want to in the future? Thanks for your hard work!
I would like to have the GBzero splashscreen only. where can i get it? plz help
Hi, I used your image, great stuff!! Thanks for sharing, just one thing how can I get the favourites appearing? When I mark a game as favourite I don't see in the main screen, and where can I get some other tracks for background music? Thanks in advance :)
Thanks! Great image dude! One question please: How can i install others emulators? i tried by retropie but give me a error message. How can i resolved it? I wanna install VirtualBoy, Colecovision and others optional emus. Thank u in advanced!
Anyway to watch RUclips on GPI case with this image installed, and Kodi?
Awesome image! Thanks! Perfect (though I did change the music to the TRON end titles music)...Just wondering if it’s possible to add PlayStation Portable Emulator to this or wouldn’t the Pi Zero be able to handle it?
Unfortunately theres no way the pi zero could handle psp emulation 😔
looks great if i want to add sega cd games can i drop the box art into the sega cd folder with the games?
Wow this makes getting a GPI Case more tempting! Also is it easy to delete the emulators you don’t want?
How do I add the WiFi Toggle on/off from the tool menu?
We need a video tutorial for this
Can you help I just installed. GBA game is not working it said error file type. what should I do?
is all cool working fine thanks for the image only comment that i would like to add or ask is:
Sometimes crash and reboot it happens to more people? is some games that maybe are not ok?
or could be the fact maybe batteries when are low switch off the pi?
kind regards
Hey Restalgia, Put everything up today. I am loving it although there is the white noise buzzing sound. Do you know a fix?
Image looks nice thanks for that! But i really have trouble with some systems for example NeoGeo - have bad sound glitches and slowdowns...?!
Hello just subscribed just because of the image .... Question: will this work on pi 0 original without wifi? The pi 0 w is so hard to find were I live.
Great image! A lot of good classics. The music is super annoying imo. A little worry of how the raspberry cartrige heats up when it's on too...
Late to the party [July 2020] but what a party! Great image, thanks indeed. Question: I have ssh setup but the default password - raspberry - doesn't work. Has it been changed? To what? Cheers.
Let's see an LDK vs GPI Case video!
Which core emulators are you using on this image for SNES and NeoGeo?
The problem with this is you can't and new systems I updated the script now I can't get into retropie settings anymore
What is the file type for the image because when I downloaded it there were two file types of the same image
Any V2's coming for this great image that include Arcade games like Mame, FBA, and CPS3 ?
Awesome image! I just cant seem to get the safe shutdown to work. I redownloaded from retroflag and still wont work. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
@Restalgia Hi, it looks really great. But the download won't start. Is it still Online or am I to late?
It's still there, maybe the servers are a bit busy, keep the torrent running, I'm sure it'll start soon.
I'm having the same issues as others, it randomly freezes all the time. The shutdown script also does not seem to run in a way I'm used to seeing. Any suggestions how to make this run properly? I have done the expanding filesystem. I have tried this on 2 different memory card, and same issues.
Is there any way to download today this image? I've tried using the torrent from the site and also the nzb but nothing, seems there are no seeds
Regarding the D-Pad not working....Up & Select didn't work for me. Instead, Up & Start worked
First of all.. thank you ! :-D Looking good but... same issue after few minutes : error message (or freeze) like "sequential issue"... i've tryed 2 SD card (class10) from SanDisk & Kingston... same issue all the time :-( Maybe you can you help or advise me?
Is this image running stock or is it over clocked at all? How does the snes and gba perform?
just running stock and snes and gba work really well. I don't recommend running an overclocked pi in this shell since there is not good cooling method and it can overheat pretty quick
@@Restalgia thanks for the reply. Works perfectly. Is it possible to add more roms? If so how?
Love this image but having trouble booting Pokémon on gameboy advance. Specially emerald and others from that gen. It starts to boot and then crashes. Does anyone know how to fix? I’m guessing an emulator isn’t selected for those games but I’m not sure
I just got the Retroflag GPI yesterday and lagging quite a bit on every system I use. I downloaded the Recal image and I even have fresh batteries in it. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Please help!
Case is out of stock on US Amazon. Anyone know if it's going to be back in stock at some point?
Im using a pi zero 2 W and its not booting up just get black screen, do I have to use a pi zero W specifically for the image to run?😢
Hi. It started and ran but it just constantly resets. When I went to switch it off it didnt do a safe shutdown. Is there something I'm doing wrong
check the pogo pins to make sure your board is properly connected. If it is, try a better quality sd card. The pi zeros can be finicky with sd cards
I had the same problem, was driving me nuts.
Turned out to be the batteries I was using.
Used the DC power cable my Gpi came with and it worked without a problem.
Just downloaded this image (works great!) but no games available. Am I required to install them separately ?
Thank you for this image, I had been struggling with my pi zero with no wifi. One question though, when playing games graphics look blurry not crisp, is there a way to change this?
There is. When you select a game and it loads the screen shor before starting the game, you can press "a" and enter the emulator settings. You can then adjust the resolution, but I had already done that. I'd make sure your pogo pins are seated properly first. Should look crystal cleat
@@Restalgia Ok, thanks for the information!
@@Restalgia the problem was in video smoothing, the bilinear filter, so what I ended up doing was pressing select + x while the emulator is running and in the video options turned off the bilinear filtering and voila image was crisp and clear!
Hi, nice build, which image name is this one in the download link?
After weeks of hassling with the 'official' GPi case retropie installation that worked initially but broke when I did the first big OS upgrade (lost shutdown script which I fixed and then lost keyboard configs in advmame), I found your preconfigured image and wrote it to a new 32gb uSD and it looks great. Unfortunately the pi crashes all the time (and I have done no mods at all - just running it the way it comes). My guess is your image is overclocking too much for my Pi Zero W - but I can't work out where the overclocking is being done. It doesn't appear to be in the /boot/config.txt file and the raspi-config overclock menu selection reports 'this raspberry pi cannot be overclocked'. Where do I go to undo the overclocking? Thanks....
oh - I just saw the comment below saying you don't overclock. Any ideas what else would cause repeated crashes in a GPicase that was working fine for weeks? The only other external factor I can think of is I used a Samsung EVO select 32Gb class 10 card which is sold targeted at photographic use so may not have great random access characteristics The syslog messages when it crashes all look like these: Message from syslogd@retropie at Oct 4 06:59:12 ...

Where is the online updater in the quick menu???
great image. all i need now is PS1 and Arcade game build
I left ps1 and arcade off this build because in this application there is no active cooling on the board. Both arcade and ps1 make the pi run really hot which could potentially damage the components. Keep that in mind
Restalgia Ah thanks for that, yeah their are no cooling vents in this case unless you cut them yourself, which would kind of ruin it’s aesthetics. And heat will degrade components faster.
Arcade inclusion will be good and I will just leave PS1 with the PS Classic
@@Restalgia great image!!! Runs out of the box...thanks
Thanks for the build it sounds awesome. I am new and this looks excatly what I am looking for. I went to try download and looks like the name is now gpi.dark.pi.restalgia. Is this correct? If so do I just go to the download page and download the torrent or nzb? I am thinking I want torrent. I downloaded both and they look small. Will etcher pull in all the info once ran?
Soulblazer on the SNES crashes. Anyone have a solution for this?
Would it be hard to add coleco to this without messing it up?
Your image is great, just one question - how do you expand the filesystem to take advantage of larger SD cards?
You go into the raspi-settings menu and there is an option to expand system memory :)
@@Restalgia I thought so, but I'm not seeing it under raspi-config, would you mind breaking down the steps?
@@DragunBreath sure, I'm on the road now, but I will when I can
@@Restalgia Thank you much, I'm probably overlooking something, but damned if I can figure it out :)
Anyone solve this? Says I’m out of space but there’s no way, I’m using 64g card.
First, thank you so much for taking the time to create this image. I noticed a couple NES games including the first Super Mario and the Nintendo version of Tetris run too fast. It is acting like they may be the PAL version of the games. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to correct this.
Thanks for watching the video. I hadn't noticed anything weird with nes, but I also don't play it that often. I'll check it out.
@@Restalgia I have replaced those roms with a copy of my own roms and those games play at the correct speed now.
I have downloaded and tried this image several times but it keeps randomly freezing the Pi Zero W. That is a bummer because I really like this image. I am at a loss on this. I have a different installation that I am working on but will not be able to make it as nice as this one. I don't seem to have an issue with the other one freezing on me.

Is this image based on the RetroFlag GPi Case Pre-made Image ? Does it also have that cool retro (purple grid) theme?
no that the the mega supreme image
Just download the Image but the GBA is not working for me any Help!!!
Hey @Restalgia thanks for the amazing build as well as the tutorial. Would you be able to show us how you've logged your gpi case on the wifi. I've configured the wpa_supplicant file with all the network info and password and put it on the boot folder but when I go and try and connect from the gpi case on the wifi option and select "import wifi credentials from" it tries to connect but says "failed to bring up wlan0.name) and psk then says connecting then says "Unable to connect to network". Anyone else having this issue? What I'm I doing wrong?
The file when correctly set up and placed directly on the root of the SD card (not within any folders, you literally open the sd card in Windows, and place the raw file directly in the same place where all the other files are) and when you boot online for the first time, it will automatically connect the network. No need to import Wi-Fi credentials at all. :) make sure you are filling everything case sensitive. You can test this by turning on the gpi case and wait till you get to the main screen, then go to a Windows computer and press the start button and type "//retropie" and it should connect and bring up the device. This is where you can change the background music or add roms.
Restalgia thank you so much for the reply @Restalgia I’m going to redo everything for the WiFi setup could it be that it’s not working because I’m on a Mac OS 10.6.8 would it be any different? Thanks once again!
Hey @Restalgia I managed to redo the wpa_supplicant with all of my network and password details with sublime text for mac. Saved it then transferred the raw file to the folder with the other files. However once I boot the GPI case nothing happens with the wifi. I've loaded the SD card again and the wpa_supplicant file disappeared. I don't know why this happens. I've followed your instructions. Can anyone help with this?
Hey @Restalgia I managed to fix it and it works perfectly. Can you tell me the name of the background song? Or where is the folder to change the music I download more background music from the easy hacks tool but the main one disappeared. Let me know!
@@jonathanbriu hey man, just wondering how you fixed this.
I'm running into the same problem.
Triple checked my info to make sure it's correct, deleted and dropped the new conf file directly onto the root of my SD card multiple times and still nothing.
Thanks for your hard work it is greatly appreciated that people like you do all this hard work so lazy ass people like me don't have to! Any chance you could provide a quick guide for how to disable the music? very many thanks once again.
Many thanks Rhino :)
The "Music Disable" option is literally in the "RetroPie" menu option > Background Music
How do we disable Wifi on here to save battery?
Am I getting this right? So you just plop the image on the console’s SD card and you just turn it on. Do u have to install the stuff from the previous tutorial to get this to work?
Yes, write the image using etcher, and pop it in and your good to go right out of the gate.
Restalgia can I use win32 disk imager?
@@weshamby9450 yep, your better off with etcher though, it writes much faster
