My son is 5 years old and has no idea who this guy was. When he can comprehend the game better I'm going to show him Griffey Jr swings...absolutely the nicest and sweetest swing ever!
Barry Bonds was better imo. Arod too. I mean its honestly hard to compare those three. They were all excellent 5 tool players. The only thing you can really look at is numbers at that point lmao
Hanson Fam Griffey jr. had the sweetest swing I ever did see. Bonds may have been better, and as an SF native I'm biased. But Griffey brought the most joy to the game; both playing it and for fans watching. I will never forget or stop appreciating just how special a player he was.
Hanson Fam Bonds was only better because of steroids. He went from a career high if like 38-40 homers, to all of a sudden hitting 73 out of nowhere! Bonds was a great player before that, but not an all time great. He would've been borderline hof material, but steroids put him over the edge. Arod, on the other hand, would've made the hof, with or without cheating. He probably just added 50 or do more homers to his career total. Griffey was the greatest, clean & natural hitter of that generation. If He would've taken steroids, he would've been hitting 50-60 bombs every year and been the homerun king, even with his injuries.
@LedZiphell420 Junior is the most respect and arguably greatest player in the history of the sport. You're implying he doesn't deserve to get into the hall of fame, insane comment.
Ken Griffey, Jr., one of the all/time greats. Such a sweet swing and a true 5-tool player. Watching play from the very beginning of his minor league career brought me a lot of joy.
@@erichvonmanstein6876 all you look at is stats and fail to realize injures and inconsistencies ruined the back half of his career. And he wasn't on roids so he didn't ever recover fully from those injuries. If he took roids like bonds he'd have easily over 800 homers. Clean athlete with an even cleaner swing.
Wade Boggs and Tony Gwynn were the best hitters of that time. Nobody will ever convince me that they were juiced. Boggs' best home run total was 24, and he insisted it was purely accidental. Although he could have been a home-run hitter, Boggs never tried to hit one. He was only interested in making contact. As for Tony Gwynn, I can't think of any ballplayer during that time who was more popular. Nobody ever questioned his integrity.
If he didn’t get hurt, he would have easily and LEGITIMATELY broke Hank Aaron’s homerun record! “The Kid” played with the enthusiasm of a Little Leaguer, meaning, he enjoyed this game and played with his hair on fire day in and day out! He busted it in the outfield and going on the bases! He had one of the most awesome strokes in baseball history because he hit everything hard and made it look easy! I enjoyed watching him play and he is a CLASS ACT on and off the field, and made my fantasy lineup every time! Miss watching that killer swing, if you were a pitcher, you prayed he missed it, if you were a teammate, you prayed he made contact because it was going a long way, HARD!!
One of the greatest to lace em up period!! Greatest swing I’ve ever witnessed in baseball history. Not only hitting , but he’s one of the greatest CF outfielders in MLB history, dude will walk the wall on you.
Im watching Junior highlights, and the amount of times this guy makes the other teams fans clap is awe inspiring. Brings a tear honestly. He was so special.
Every young baseball player should watch Ken Griffey Jr swing the bat. It is text book and it is awe inspiring. To this day, I've never seen a player who matched his artistic form. And this blast shows the results. There is no way a man his size should be hitting the ball this far. Its usually the big guys hitting these mammoth shots. But he makes up for it with bat speed and perfect form.
Joe Buck, take note. This is how you sportscast a game when something big happens. You get EXCITED. Not "that ball is going.....and......gone....over the wall" in a droning voice.
I mean, he has to be aware of what sports fan think of him. Personally, the sound of his voice irritates me and I would be quite amazed that he still has a job if not for the fact that nepotism has kept him gainfully employed. Must be great to have a legend for a dad but it must make you feel little trying to fill in such big shoes.
Thank you. I, like most New Yorkers over 20 know the iconic words 'HOLY COW!' of the late Phil Rizzuto and 'It is gone, goodbye' of the late Ralph Kiner. While not at the same level, we Mets fans now have 'Outta Here!' from current broadcaster Gary Cohen. Any good announcer needs to have a level of excitement and not be so damn monotone like Joe Buck.
Albirdosaur Well, to be fair Neihaus was the Mariners announcer, and Buck is doing it from an objective standpoint. The home team guys normally show a lot more excitement.

David Merrell NO! Imagine if He didn't break his wrist which did result in the slide of his career! Maybe it was mental...maybe that beak took too muck out of him. Dam it I am so pissed about that. He may have gone to 800. I know I know ludicrous, but with that swing? Maybe...
The best part about living in Toronto is that for $8 on a weeknight you can see their crappy team play a far superior, more skilled team. And you get a variety of opponents too so it doesn't get too boring. That is why the home crowd in this clip is clapping for Griffey: they are excited a visitor came into their house and not just entertained but also cleaned up for them.
this is my thoughts.. since KGjr, had 398 homeruns in his time with Seattle, and then had 40 in his first yr with Cincinnati, so now he's at 438... he only needed to average 26.5 homeruns per year in his last 12 seasons.. obviously if he would of stayed healthy from ages 31 (2001) to 34 (2004) he probably averages over 40 homeruns per year.. And even in some of his short seasons in Cincinnati, he still hit 22 in 111games, 20 in 83games, 35 in 128 games, 27 in 109... so imagine if he would of played in 90% of those games.. and the same amount for the last 12 seasons.. i think he would of been well over the 755 and possibly over 800.. I will say i was always a fan of his, loved his swing and the way he played the game.. just sucks that injuries cut down what could of been the greatest career ever..
Ken Griffey Jr. is, has, and will always be my favourite player ever. A true 5-tool player with the most beautiful swing of all time. If it wasn't for injury, he would be baseballs home run king....and he would have done it clean. Just phenomenal.
I feel you man my boy is 7 and mike trout was the world to him and I showed him Griffey catches and home runs and now he is gem Griffey. Hands down the best ever and I'm a die hard Cubs fan
+chris herrera I'm a Cardinals fan but I grew up watching Griffey and just marveled at his ability. Easily the best ball player I've ever seen. Used to watch Baseball Tonight just because I looked forward to Griffey Jr's highlights, and he was almost always on the highlight reel somehow. If he wasn't on the highlights for a mammoth homer, he was on because of an outstanding play in the outfield. This guy was otherworldly to me.
Griffey and Will Clark had the most beautiful, effortless swings that made baseball look easy like any of us could do it, then we try it, then you realize just how much talent they had
Griffey sweetest swing ever, Tony Gywnn best bat control ever, Frank Thomas best eye for a power hitter from the right side of plate, Barry Bonds most feared player of his era! Bonds a H.O.F. before steroids talk!
Facing Griffey in the 90’s was one of the scariest things a pitcher had to do. You know one mistake and it’s getting obliterated. So as a pitcher the one thing you’re trying so hard NOT to do is leave one out over the plate. And of course that’s exactly what happened. That was the look on that pitcher’s face.
Great great player! Loved his swing , he made power look easy. I wish he would've had more success avoiding injury and finding the post season. Nonetheless he had a superb career and we won't see another natural like him for awhile.
fuckin had the best swing in history. i don't care if bonds or mcquire had more, this guy was all natural. his swing wasn't filled with an insane amount of force and muscle, it was just nice and fluid
One of the best to ever do it on a baseball field and he always carried himself like the man he suppose to be and that swing was so sweet. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017

Ken Griffey Jr. is, has, and will always be my favourite player ever. A true 5-tool player with the most beautiful swing of all time. If it wasn't for injury, he would be baseballs home run king....and he would have done it clean. Just phenomenal.
THE ACTUAL GOAT
Not many guys ever had a swing that smooth........
+carbajal8283 well said man
And that swing. The most beautiful swing in baseball history.
The Smoothest most effortless Beautiful Baseball swings of all time... ever in Baseball along with Bonds n Mcguire... wow Triple decker...
He had one of the best swings I've ever seen.
Griffey and Will Clark had the most beautiful, effortless swings that made baseball look easy like any of us could do it, then we try it, then you realize just how much talent they had
i always used to be Ken griffey on Nintendo 64 baseball
C-c-c-c-call me Junior
I just love the pitcher’s reaction. That is the look of a guy who immediately knows he’s made a mistake.
Facts! He knew it as soon as he heard it 😂
crazy to think what he would have accomplished had he stayed healthy
He Might've Shattered The Record
I hope they don't say this about Ohtani
Neihaus made you feel like he was flying with the baseball. What a time to be a fan that era was.
5 dislikes? You kidding me? Best ball player ever period. Wish he got the send off like Jeter got, Cuz he's twice the player.
jeter > griffey. he's way overrated
***** typical yankee homer
jmarshall88 griffey was on roids, jeter wasnt
lethrneck4 you're on crack.
John Bach griffey was not hitting HRs like this without steroids..and the non stop injuries later in his was roid breakdown
Griffey sweetest swing ever, Tony Gywnn best bat control ever, Frank Thomas best eye for a power hitter from the right side of plate, Barry Bonds most feared player of his era! Bonds a H.O.F. before steroids talk!
God I miss Dave Niehaus.
How beautiful was the sound of the bat hitting the ball
fuckin had the best swing in history. i don't care if bonds or mcquire had more, this guy was all natural. his swing wasn't filled with an insane amount of force and muscle, it was just nice and fluid
One of the best to ever do it on a baseball field and he always carried himself like the man he suppose to be and that swing was so sweet. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017
