Bro, I have to ask after all the time passed do you still use the Astra 2 or have you moved on. There is a new Bluetooth Version out but I don’t want this purchase to end up not best suited with all the new keyboards available since then.
Great video! I just found your channel, and I like the smooth, easy vibe in this one. The speed editor is something I've been thinking about since they announced it, but I'm not sure if I want to just work on the Cut page with it. I miss the jog/shuttle wheels of the tape editors I used to use. There was a rhythm to using those things, along with the satisfaction of banging the wheel to switch modes. It's like the difference between automatic and manual transmissions. One makes you feel like an operator while the other puts you in the middle of the process.
I got it brand new and it is a 10/10 you will love it I use it 100% of the time I am using Davinci some times I look for it when im so focused on a color grade or in fusion just to press play even tho I have a soace bar under my thumb. 2:45
Thanks for the nugget about the speed editor being more for the cut tab function rather than editing. I was wondering whether to push the button on getting one of those boards but your insight paused that idea... That and I checked the prices on these I can see the recent enthusiasm for DaVinci Resolve has pushed the price of the units on eBay up to close to double what they were a year ago... Yikes!
@@CineDailies alright, I tried to read about it on their website now but could not find the info that the resolve studio was included... but sounds like a good deal if it is! How do you like the Speed Editor today, are you still using it or have you continued with other tools and devices for your work? thanks for getting back!
@@SimplicityForGood its always include if new. unless they changed something recently. Im using the speed editor everyday. it fits my workflow - mainly with just a mouse and keyboard
The resolve editing board is only $1 when you buy it with the pro version of DaVinci resolve. I think I paid $400 for resolve bundle: came with resolve pro for $399 and the board for $1
I just got the studio version free with my bmpcc purchase. I'm still learning Resolve but thinking about picking up the editing pad. Does it make editing much quicker?
I like the simplified but efficient setup! Curious as a person setting up my station for video editing and photography, why did you choose to go with a 2K monitor vs 4K? Is the max resolution you capture up to 2K or do you shoot 4K video and export it to 2K? Lastly, which color calibration hardware do you use to set up the colors just right because that color on the MacBook Pro looks pretty slick! Thank you for any ideas and response. Now I have to check out the other videos you have! New subscriber.
I would drop the mic and headphones look for the talking head portions of the video. All that fancy gear and no shotgun mic? Great video though, I notice the abrupt abandon ship that lots of youtubers are doing to Resolve... may have to join you there!
LOL the current mic setup is do to time. It's faster with a noisy house with two kids. Right now it's the most efficient. Most of the "filmmaker RUclipsers" are late to the party and I imagine there will be a massive wave of complaints for a new editing workflow but I'm happy people are realizing there are better options now
This is the gen 1. Gen two is blue tooth. Watch my most recent video. And sure the DR keyboard accomplishes similar results. So pick what works for you
That keyboard is just a rip-off... for that price you could get a mechanical keyboard (way better than a membrane like that keyboard) and a stream deck where you can sort and manage way more hotkeys than a keyboard... And if you're lazy, some people already created and shared some of their profiles on reddit. Or if you're cheap, just some cheap mechanical keyboard and some keycaps relegendable shells.
@@CineDailies I'm not even an editor, but I know about tech and that keyboard is a ripoff. Seriously... $160 for a $10 membrane keyboard with custom keycaps? You could get a full mechanical keyboard for $40 and have $120 for anything else, from custom keycaps to a fully programmable stream deck. You can even get full custom dye sub keycaps that are identical to those of that keyboard and end up with a higher quality board with spare money for whatever you want. And as I already say, you can always get keycaps relegendable shells and just put some papers inside and still will be of higher quality and cheaper. And btw, I'm not talking about the resolve editing board, but the LOGICKEYBOARD... such a ripoff of a keyboard.
@@ViXoZuDo wow you're really passionate about this. Buy why waste your energy on something you don't like? And honestly I'm not a fan of Mechanical keyboards I hate the sound. 🤷🏽♂️
@@CineDailies did you know that there are silent switches that basically do not sound? They could be even quieter than a membrane keyboard. And even if you don't like a mechanical keyboard, a stream deck would be a better option than that keyboard. And why I'm "wasting my energy"? because I hate when people recommend bad products instead of just straight forward be honest about them and do not recommend them. It's not that hard to say: "for $160 it is not a good product"...
Love how I said Adobe - "Odobe" 🤣
Also, should I make an in depth review of the keyboard? 🤔

Love these kinds of videos!
That intro music is HEAT. Def think I need to be copping that speed editor. Looks like a real game changer.
Best song I've found all week

Downloand the free version and give it a spin
Bro, I just ripped off the band aid and edited my first video using DaVinci Resolve with the Speed Editor. HOLY 💩 is it FUN! #IYKYK !

Hope you will try it with the new moment anamorphic :)
I want to so badly. The 45mm on full frame with the adapter would look soooo good

I looked through your videos. Did you ever do an update about the keyboard?
I didn't, it wasn't worth it. But I have a video planned

Dang scratch that. Must have been some limited time deal I caught. Just looked it up not and it’s a lot more to add it on.

If you focus on using it every time you edit , yes it'll be quicker. You just have to get through the learning curve from using a keyboard to this.
