@@EarthtideStudios So I did some testing (with both a Universal & 2D Renderer in URP) - and it definitely works. Got bloom and post-processing working with it nicely as well.
That being said, it was built very much with 3D in mind, as the collisions are controlled by primitive 3d shapes (or skinned meshes/terrain meshes) and the simulations takes place inside a 3d volume as well. Plus, you need at least 1 Directional (3D) light to start the simulation.
That being the case, it certainly worked and still looked nice in 2D.

I like these videos you make, coupling a devlog along with your daily lifestyle makes for an enjoyable video. Plus, your calm voice narration and pacing is nice on the ears. It’s a breath of fresh air compared to other devlogs where they try to throw in jokes every few seconds or split the video and insert memes with volume jumps. I wish others had the same recipe for success like you have. I know it’s a lot of work for you to make the scripts, storyboard your scenes, filter/weed thru all the clips you made for this and cut it to make sense and then edit the video and audio.
To give you some feedback, what I really like is how you explain your problem, what you did to solve it and if it didn’t work, you explained why and what you did to resolve it.

5:38 LateUpdate runs after animations, so if you adjust eyes there, it overrides whatever the animation does. This is how you can do stuff like IK since you position bones _after_ the Animator positions them. That said, a different animation layer with a Direct blendtree with different facial animations (eyes blinking, eyes stunned, angry eyebrows, etc) is a good solution since then you can just adjust some weights in code and combine facial animations. It's really simple to setup too.

Great video. The game looks great.
The boss jump takes too long to come down, you can slowly walk away from it AND it stuns the big guy. It's not a good move for him. Either make it quicker or make it actually stun the player instead if he's close by (like the landing caused an earthquake that stuns the player).

Such an inspiring Vlog! And yes, the blood on the screen looks a bit distracting. Maybe you can try adding the blood splashes on the edges of the screen (like those FPS games) instead of throwing those effects in the middle of the screen? If your intention is to make the scene less clear for players to see, adding effects to the middle of the screen is a good try (for examples, players who walk into fog might get a cover effect in the middle of the screen so that they cannot see enemies clearly.) But only for the killing effects, I feel like just adding some blood splashes on the edges is enough to make the scenes look dramatic (or just simply remove them because the blood on the floor looks already dramatic enough XD)

I love these kinds of videos! Thanks for sharing a peek once again. I think it's great that your daughter shares an interest in game dev. I've been wanting to get my little one into Scratch Jr. at some point. Samurado is really coming along. It looks great and the gameplay looks really fun. I do think the blood splatter on screen might be a bit much though, so maybe lowering the alpha would work as you said.
Also, you guys seem to work on and off throughout the day with breaks and, of course, life in between. I'm just wondering what's the rough maximum block of time that you work on something and what's the rough minimum amount of time? Usually, I feel like if I don't have at least an hour it feels like I can't get anything done. I've been trying to break this mentality especially since it really depends on the task at hand. So I was curious what you do.

Hey great vid! My take on the blood particles. I personally don't like it. I feel like it clashes with the overall tone of the game. You are a cute avocado, it's cartoony. and then blood all over the place. idk i think even a light amount of blood might be too much. I feel like it looks good in Blood and Mead. Even tho that game is cartoony the char is a viking with an axe and shield so the blood feels much more appropriate. Just my take tho. Best of luck to you sir!!!

Why so much blood? Look at the game, cute plump characters, avocados, clean locations and so much blood with bones scattered everywhere. For such realism, IMHO it is necessary to make more realistic locations and enemies. If you look at any Brotato there is a little bit of stylized blood.
