You can lower the volume on your oven. There is a little button in the lower right side on the front. Push and hold, until you see a speaker in your display. Push and hold, and it again, and it will will mute. Push and hold again, and it will be at a lower volume.
i have never heard of this recipe before. i will have to make them for sure now! my husband and i are celebrating 26 years married today! we have been calling each other Pookie almost from the very beginning of our relationship 😊
In Indonesia there is also a cake called pukis. It's called the same as the cake you made, pookies. It tastes sweet. Banana, chocolate, cheese, and nuts are usually the toppings.
Emmy, it was definitely the ratio of the flour to the banana and the viscosity, also, is it dry where you are? Environment has a lot to do with it. You could have added a bit of milk or water and it would have been more of a pancake batter type mixture. Personally, the ones you made look divine! I love that yours are thick! Goes well with a nice, cold, glass of milk. 🧡 Thank you so much for the content! Hope the tip helps!
I brought bananas home from the store and left them in the plastic bag. I wrapped it around them and left them on the counter. After several days, with no change in color, I decided to take them out of the bag. To my surprise, the stem fell off the bananas when I started to take them out of the bag. They were almost over-ripe even though they had not changed color. They made fabulous banana muffins!
I think a naturally ripe banana would have made it sweeter and the batter a little more runny. I looked up the yolk ripening method and it doesn't break the down the starches quite as much as natural ripening does, so the extra starch with the flour would make a thicker batter. Looks good though. Kind of like making muffin tops!
I freeze my bananas to have for things like this. Buy a big bunch, let them ripen. Then peel and cut in two pieces (for ease in getting in quart freezer bag. I get about 4 bananas in a bag. When I want to use them I take one (two pieces) out to defrost. You could zap them if in a hurry. Doesn't hurt if you are going to puree them anyway. This took all the stress of planning for needing bananas.
i tried these but added an additional 1tbs ish of brown sugar and they were delicious. i’d definitely try to add more sugar if you make them again. (my banana was also ripe so maybe that helped a bit?) i also cooked some of them as if they were pancakes; in a pan on the stove, and they were also super delicious
I live in Houston Texas and our bananas literally overripe in less than 3 days. The overripe so fast that I have a freezer full of overripe bananas. lol. Thanks for the tips!

I'd be curious to know if you used a ripe banana to begin with it the recipe would have ended up closer in texture to what you'd seen, even though you did the hack for sweetness it could be the texture still wasn't quite right?
6:35 This is the main reason US should make the leap into metric system and start measuring stuff in grams and milliliters instead of cups and pounds. You can weigh the banana and adjust all the other ingredients accordingly in grams and/or milliliters. You can also just eat the excess banana or better, slice it and use it as garnish on top of each pookie. Of course the main problem is that US recipes do not tell what would be the ideal amount of banana in grams. And you DO use CC on some fields.. CC = cubic centimeter = one milliliter.
My Mom used to pack a banana in my metal H.R. Pufnstuf lunchbox and by the time lunchtime rolled around, my banana was ripened too much for me to eat. 😂
yeah i like them with a tiny bit of green at the tip of the peel so they arent TOO mushy and sweet. they dont really have a sourness to them at that point but they have a good texture and are still sweet but like someone said, bananas for eating and bananas for baking are VERY different, in terms of when you use them. you need them to be extremely mushy and sweet to have any strong banana flavor transfer over to a baked good. thats why banana baked goods are PERFECT to make when you forget about bananas you had sitting around. theyre too sweet and soft to eat plain, but they wont get wasted if you bake with them
The name of these doesn't conjur up pancake cookies in my head, poo-kies, poo-cookies, cookies with poo, I dunno, guess the cutesie stuff goes over my head I suppose!!! :P
Is there any way you can share which chocolate you used? I've found that in most cookie recipes I am never pleased with the quality of the chocolate no matter which brand I try. 😭

I think toasted Walnuts or Pecans would be really good added to those 😋

Thank you for the banana ripening tip!
My pleasure!
@@emmymadeWhen I want to ripen a banana quickly, I just put in a warm oven for a while. The timing varies depending on the condition of the fruit.
Pookie or Pooky is my ultimate most favorite nickname for a baby or pet❣️🥰
Fun Fact: Pookie is the name of Garfield's Teddy Bear.
It’s also a term of endearment.
❤❤❤

My guess was going to be the age of the flour or the age of the baking powder.
“Hey pookie, the brain rot” 😂😂
the way she knows brainrot is so funny 😅

The tip for banana ripening is so cool!
You're so cute and your voice is so calming ❤
I think Panookie would have been a fun name 😊 (plus in addition to Pancake and Cookie it kind of adds in Banana too)

I was gonna say to try a TBS of maple syrup in the batter since they are like pancakes. 😃
These look like they would make a quick whoopie pie... OH! Pookie Pies!! Get some buttercream or marshmallow filling in them!
Pookie is the name of my mini lop bunny lol.
The enthusiasm, simple recipe & lion shirt are so great!
I have to try these. That was my dad’s nickname for me waaaaay back in the 60s. He called me that until I was in my 50s.
Cookies, like brownies, are best when they’re hot, like lava! 😁
Yes I only bake a few ate a time so they can all be eaten fresh and hot each time 😍
Loved the name... pookie also is like a cute pet name ❤
I agree. Riper bananas are also more liquid.
Thanks for the tips on the bananas and lovely recipe!
Another awesome video!
I love your lion shirt. It is beautiful.
Swear to god.. that alarm activated my fight n flight! I thought it was in my own house 😅
I roast my bananas in the oven for my banana bread.

Amylase? I always just put them in the fridge or freezer to premature ripen. Do we still do that?

Pookie was the name of my daughter's cat that just passed away. Really dumb, but they loved him.
They would make great whoopie pies, with some cream cheese frosting inside
Wouldn't pankies or cookakes be better names
Pankies!💀
pankies sounds like panties.... pookies is cuter
I find the simplest way to brown bananas is set them in the oven for 10 mins at 350 degrees. They are perfect to use in banana bread :)
interesting twist
Nice to for ripening bananas in a pinch. I think if the banana had ripened naturally the pookies would have been sweeter.
I used to watch the Soupy Sales kiddie show back in the 60's. He did zany sketches with a lion hand puppet named Pookie; neat coincidence you are wearing a lion shirt.

Pookie invaders!🫢🥴🤯
You can also bake an unpeeled banana at 300° for 30 mins to ripen it. I've done it and it works well. It even turns the peels black.
As someone who developed a banana allergy later in life, i wonder if i can use applesauce as a banana substitute, because these seem delightful
Instead of chocolate can you use blueberries?
I must be weird.. All I think of when I hear “Pookie”, is Garfield’s stuffed teddy bear… 😅
I think of Hey Arnold lol
I wonder if those could be done in a waffle iron
You are my pookie
I Emmy, long time no see. Would you please post the coffee cream using Nescafé. Thanks if you can, thanks if you can’t.😊

pookie is also Garfield's teddy bear. LOL

If you wet your spoon or hand with water, you can spread easier with no stickage.

I know, isn’t that weird? I gave up packing bananas for my kids. I even used a banana saver container!
So this is how pookies are born
Emmy that banana is the PERFECT level to eat it. It still has a bit of sourness to it. I can't eat them when they're super sweet it's boring
Sweet is boring? How is sour not boring? Is salty also boring?
it might be perfect to eat as is but you need them super sweet when baking with them because it’s replacing some or all of the added sugar
Agreed!
