@@emmymadeTanghulu Takis sound so good! Also Emmy, it meant the world to me to hear you fondly say you had KFC on days your dad worked late. As a tired mom, I relate to doing “lazy dinners” when I don’t feel the need to make a hearty meal, and I feel some guilt over it. But I think my son will have nostalgia for those lazy meals when he’s older and I just thank you for reinforcing that perspective!
@alysemarie8313 Nothing wrong with an occasional "lazy meal". You deserve breaks too! Cooking is a lot of extra work, it's okay to take it easy sometimes. Don't guilt yourself, what matters most is the family is fed! I loved it when my mom would get KFC after work, she always got me extra biscuits and it's a very fond memory for me. Still have a lot of nostalgia and happy memories of my family occasionally eating a bucket of chicken on the living room floor picnic style while we watched a movie when both parents were finally home late in the evening
I think a hot honey flavored tanghulu glaze on the chicken would be way better! And maybe even only partially dunking the chicken Also I think the strawberries wouldn’t weep as much juice if they were submerged in ice water after the sugar has been applied
I think this may work well for another KFC, Korean Fried Chicken-the spicy kind. A sweet outer layer, and then you bite into a spicy kick. You get the heat as you chew and taste the sweetness simultaneously.
I’ve been watching for at least 8 years. It started with poppin cookin kits and you’ve always been such a lovely. Thanks for being there through hard times even though it’s para social we love you truly.
SHE'S REACHED 3 MILL YA'LL WHOOOO!!@ 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I've been obsessively checking her sub count with every video, WAITING and now that it's here the satisfaction is immense.
It's been 13 years Emmy 😭I was 18 when I first subscribed to you. The first video I watched of yours was Nerunerune I believe. I couldn't stop watching your videos after that. But growing up and life has been in the way. Am so glad you're still active and you're still the same, I love it. Stay healthy and happy, keep going on! Great to see you! ♥ Congrats on 3 million subscribers!
I feel like the sugar coating on the chicken would be great if you could incorporate citrus flavors into the sugar mixture, maybe hot honey into the syrup somehow. This all looks so lovely.
Congratulations Emmy on reaching 3 million subscribers!! Hard work and interesting content truly pays off!! I've been a fan since your early days and I never get tired of watching your experiments and taste tests. I do LEARN SOMETHING NEW with every video. Your family must be so proud!! Wishing you continued success!!
Oh my! That crunch is delightful! I reaaally wanna try this! I'm the baker in the house, my husband won't touch hot sugar so I make the Christmas "crack" every year. I'm confident enough in my sugar skills that this looks fun!
We actually also do caramelized apple like that in Brazil. We just call Maçã do Amor (Love Apple) and it's a common thing in Festa Junina. A big festival with so many great foods in Brazil
As far as I've heard, cherry tomatoes work really well with tanghulu coating, because they have both the sweetness and that little bit of fruit acid, that gives them a special kick.
Uhh just started making tanghulu ( strawberry, grape, mandarin pieces) this yr and its been a huge success with my family....now Emmy does tanghulu chicken, cant wait to try this.
I've watched Emmy since she was living in Japan (must be nearly a decade ago). So cool knowing and seeing that shes still going strong! ❤ Oddly enough, the first video I ever watched from Emmy, was a nail polish tutorial. 😂
I have never seen chicken before...LOL , but I always had candies apples as a kid and I am in my mid 50's so this is not new other than they are using other fruit which is so fun. I alway bought candied whole apples at church bazaars or any fair as a child and my mom used to make them around Halloween time...great memories.
OMG! sounds like you were eating rocks! 🪨🪨😂🤣😂🤣 I remember when I was little I couldn’t wait for the school picnics and carnivals because they always had the red hard candy apples. I think they put the red hot cinnamon hearts in the sugar too. ❤❤❤❤😍
I think the first I heard about it was an Ann Reardon video about how you shouldn't make tanghulu in the microwave. This looks interesting! I had some General Tso's at a restaurant once that seemed to be prepared kind of like this; it was super spicy, and had a crunchy shell.
7:27 ❤❤❤. Looks awesome. However, I would dip the non meat items first, just to be in the safe side & just in case it makes the other items taste funny.❤
🎉💞CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR 3M SUBSCRIBERS EMMY 🎉💞 have been a Beautiful Lovely since your Japanese Jiggly Cheesecake and since that day followed you with all my heart ❤ Love from Argentina! 🇦🇷
With that, you could also make Maçã do amor! From Brazil! It's a candy we make in Brazil every july/june when it's winter here! In a party called Festa Junina, wich is like "June party". Translating, the name of this candy is "Love apple" and its an apple dipped in a sugar like this, but colored red! And you buy it and gift it to your loved one!
Very original idea! I guess you can use chicken nuggets instead of wings. Tempura might turn out really good! OMG, can you imagine doing this with hosomaki?
Emmy, can you easily flavor the sugar coating? I love sweet & sour chicken / orange chicken, but I don’t like the deep fried batter. I thought a sweet/spicy hard coating over grilled chicken cubes would be worth trying.
I love the mixture of sweet and savory and mixing textures, so the idea of candied fried chicken doesn't seem too weird to me. I bet spicy fried chicken would be even better. The only part that put me off a bit is the idea of eating "cold" candied fried chicken. I assume the chicken itself was at room temperature by the time the coating was cool enough to eat?
I think they did this with Candy apples at the Fairgrounds back in the day. I couldn’t stand Caramel, so my mom would buy the one with clear or red flavored syrup
Honey can be a great replacement for corn syrup so long as it isn’t crystallized. Perhaps a hot honey to flavor it with would help the chicken meld better with the sugar coating
I’ve seen ones with grapes in Japan since Japan has those ridiculously large grapes. Also, sugar macerates strawberries, so can get quite runny with juices.
I think flavoring the syrup in some way would definitely make it work better with the chicken. I saw someone suggest hot honey, and I thought maple might work, like maple syrup on chicken and waffles.
I make Tanghulu for special banquets or dinners, but I never knew what the name was. I use apples wedges or pineapple (it's OK if you use cut fruit and coat it in cornstarch). I then deep fry the fruit in my wok. It seals the fruit and keeps the juices inside. Then I bring the hot fruit to the table with a fondue pot of candy syrup and a bowl of ice water. The diner skewers a piece of fruit, dunks it into the syrup, and then the ice water. You don't allow it to cool to room temperature tho'. You eat it while the candy is still cold, but the fruit is hot. The temperature difference is what makes this dish special and a memorable end to a special meal. I think the spicy chicken from Popeyes would give a whole different dimension to this recipe. I'm gonna try it even if it means driving an hour each way to get me some Popeyes.
We had a fried chicken place here in Ontario that used to give packets of honey with their fried chicken and it was delicious so I can see where this might work but maybe a bit too sweet.
I don't know what it is, but your voice is soooo satisfying to listen to! Found your vids through tiktok and have been obsessed ever since, keep up the good work! :)
After dipping the fruit in the syrup, are you not supposed to dip it in cold water to cause the syrup to harden quickly? I saw Emmy's was dripping at a certain point in the video and I did notice that she did not dip it all in cold water.
I'm sure that the "glass" will begin absorbing moisture from the air, so that they will become sticky pretty quickly, so don't try to keep them very long.
I am mesmerized by the like button going up and up with this amazing video. I'd probably burn myself with how clumsy I am. I love strawberries and sugar, so I know I'd love them. The chicken looks interesting, I wonder if a spicy drumstick would cut down on the sweetness.
3M subscribers?! Holy smokes, Lovelies - thank you.🧡🧡🧡 What should I do to celebrate?
Eat the same one food every day for a week?
Make a cake blindfold!
❤ Congratulations! 🎉. Bubbles, bubbles for everyone!!!!

Petition for Emmy to start a Does it tanghulu series!
Oooo....
Yes 🎉🎉 This is brilliant 👏

I was thinking the same with the hot honey👍
Yea I also wondered if it’s possible to make tanghulu with maple syrup cause then it could be like a chicken and waffles flavor
Honey wouldn't solidify
@@x.y.7385 yes, hence why I said flavored
@@AnarchyStockersthey make maple hard candy, so it’s possible somehow. Great idea!
Candy covered fried chicken... This has all the makings of a new state fair classic.
Extra EXTRA crispy
when she first bit into the chicken, the crunch made my napping cat sit up lmao
Sorry, kitty. 😬
Lmfao
Congratulations Emmy❣️❣️❣️👍🏾
This is awesome 👏🏻 ❤
Just when I thought that every possible food combination has been explored 😂Emmy is always there to prove me wrong
Cheese maybe, would that even be possible?
@@jankyfluffy898 Maybe if you dust it with a little flour first...maybe, lol.
She didn't though. Sugar and chicken have been combined often.

This one will get me in trouble with my dentist and doctor!

Those strawberries are yummy looking.

I had some General Tso's at a restaurant once that seemed to be prepared kind of like this; it was super spicy, and had a crunchy shell.
When I was a kid, my McNugget sauce of choice was honey. I can imagine that this is a lot like McNuggets and honey.
My thoughts, exactly.
I still prefer honey, when I indulge on some McNuggets.
I was pleasantly surprised how delicious honey and McNuggets is!
I always put honey on my chicken... it's so good

3M congratulations!!!! I have seen ppl who after dipping in the sugar mixture than put it in a bowl of ice
We saw this in so many places in Tokyo yet never tried it. Now I’m thinking we should do this for a summer party!❤🎉
In the UK we add red food colour to the sugar and dip apples into them. We call them toffee apples and they are sold around Bonfire Night.

Yummy another awesome video emmy
i wonder if this can be done with gravy powder mixed into the sugar. for that savory sweet flavor.
What fun!!!!!! Thanks Emmy
You're most welcome!
A crunch that even deaf people hear, “did you hear that?!” 🤣😂 oh, Emmy, we love you so much!
What a great idea it is to dip the chicken into the sugar. I've made peanut brittle many times, and it's always unnerving every time. 😅
I think they did this with Candy apples at the Fairgrounds back in the day. I couldn’t stand Caramel, so my mom would buy the one with clear or red flavored syrup
I know this is delicious I love putting honey on my fried chicken. I'm definitely going to try this.
I wonder if you dipped frozen strawberries if it would lessen the dripping
Honey can be a great replacement for corn syrup so long as it isn’t crystallized. Perhaps a hot honey to flavor it with would help the chicken meld better with the sugar coating
WOW. That crunch audio is AMAZING. I'm doing this a.s.a.p.
What an interesting technique. I’ve never heard of this before… so, yes i certainly learned something here as usual.
💫
I’ve seen ones with grapes in Japan since Japan has those ridiculously large grapes. Also, sugar macerates strawberries, so can get quite runny with juices.
It was so crunchy even with your mouth closed while you were chewing--it truly sounded like you were eating a piece of glass! 😄

I wonder if you could sweet n sour or sesame the chicken, as they're typically sweet chicken dishes.
Now I need to try Candied corn.
Idk why but this looks so interesting! I would try it 😅
We had a fried chicken place here in Ontario that used to give packets of honey with their fried chicken and it was delicious so I can see where this might work but maybe a bit too sweet.

Had these in Korea! Korean strawberries are on a whole other level and then dipped in this coating Lord have mercy.
I don't know what it is, but your voice is soooo satisfying to listen to! Found your vids through tiktok and have been obsessed ever since, keep up the good work! :)
Does it matter the temperature of the item being dipped? Like cold, room temp, or hot (for the fried chicken)?
After dipping the fruit in the syrup, are you not supposed to dip it in cold water to cause the syrup to harden quickly? I saw Emmy's was dripping at a certain point in the video and I did notice that she did not dip it all in cold water.
I would think it would dissolve the sugar.
I'm sure that the "glass" will begin absorbing moisture from the air, so that they will become sticky pretty quickly, so don't try to keep them very long.
This lady on this video looks like my dear grandmother, Godbless her soul!
drumstick is my favourite piece, followed by wings
How'd you get 3 pieces in your 2-piece meal? 😅 idk if chicken would be my choice to try this with, but it's a fun watch

pitted sweet black cherries would be awesome
