Omg a podcast would be so interesting!!!
My real name is Dana. Shhhh🤫❤
Has Lisa Bonet had the Buccal Fat removed because she's looked gaunt and hallowed for awhile. Because that would definitely be a reason why Zoe had hers done...
I'm not famous but I just had a CO2 facial treatment do help with premature aging & acne scars. It hurtlike hell & after a pretty penny & two weeks later...I see no difference. I'd share my experience!
I'd find this podcast idea very interesting
Interviews, audience questions, absolutely!
I know she's trying not to offend anyone by calling it "high fashion", but most of them just look like they have Handsome Squidward filter on

😆🤣🤣
😅😅😅😅
Yeah, it looks strange and off-putting
This is what i wanted to say
These are not beauty standards. These are beauty trends.
Agree!
Thank you-well said.
Exactly, and people are taking trends and making it their life style.
if course u wouldnt understand since ur a man and the industry and society are way harsher with womens looks. but this are beauty standards.
@@marbesa22 No, it's a trend, we all know that in a few months buccal fat removal isn't going to be a thing anymore, trends come and go, standards stay for decades.
2 years ago when I was 22, I almost got this done. Went to a plastic surgeon to get submental lipo (I am happy with the results) and asked him about buccal fat removal. He said he wont do it because I look great with my round cheeks. I feel thankful every day that he was a good person first and a businessman second!
What's submental lipo
@@murk959 it gets rids of the double chin.
Same, I asked about it and my doctor said no, I will want all the buccal fat as I age, I'm not a good candidate. Thanks to him for an honest answer!
Two years ago when I was 22 I decided to always lie about my age.
😅
This type of removal makes these celebs look like they are getting ready for a Tim Burton movie!
HAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 nice one
It’s nature , just a man skull
I think social media and Hollywood seems to encourage people with body dysmorphic disorder
Absolutely. I know that personally it's added to my issues with how I see myself. I dislike how I look since my mother told me that I was ugly etc. Growing up.
It definitely drives the economy - comparing one's self to others in all facets of life - the foundation of capitalism is to create a need if there is none i.e. implant insecurities within people's psyche
@@LumiSisuSusi i feel you u.u
They push you to be a part of the consumer society. And i mean To consider yourself as "the product".
Happy people don't spend money on stupid beauty procedures, so yeah every media's purpose is to make you spend money
Notice how literally EVERY SINGLE ONE of the examples for this is NOT a girl with fat cheeks reducing them to 'normal' but girls with normal cheeks going skeleton mode... why...
Models.
The funny thing is, the older you get, this happens anyway. They’re gunna look even worse later on. They’ll probably get injections to fill it back out later on 🙄
Everyones face loses facial fat as the get older. Now the fat has been removed at a younger age, their faces will cave in even more , if the fat had never been removed. They will end up looking odder and older than they do now. I had a round face when l was younger, now my cheeks have hollowed out over the years, my cheek bones are now dominant.
@@lee-annebarrett366 This makes me wonder if any of these people were even explained to about how things will work out eventually.

While I respect your profession, watching your videos have confirmed to me that I am satisfied with my body because I don't know how any procedure will age on me.
Yeah I really enjoy learning about it
Agreed. I'm in my mid 30s and majority of my peers are undergoing work. I'm much more satisfied with my body seeing the unnatural look my peers are subscribed to.
@@pamelaparsons3945 hello Pamela, im 63, please believe me it keeps getting better and better until 50, which i admit was a bit of a shock and at which point i passed the torch, but at 60 i managed to somewhat find my strength again, admittedly different, but blablabla- all this to say - Pamela - you have your best years still in front of you to enjoy xo
Maybe a lil botox in the future, but no huge shape altering surgeries for me. I'll stick to my moisturizer and sunscreen chile.
I also enjoy watching those videos and I really like Dr Linkov, however, for myself I am more and more sure that I don't want to spend a big amount of money to change whatever about my appearance surgically. I am thinking for myself that my life won't be about looking perfect and forever 35.
I’m about to turn 70 and have recently thought about getting “refreshed”. Why a young girl would deliberately hollow out her face is beyond me. But if I did have some work done I would hope to have a surgeon as professional and caring as Dr. Linkov. I so enjoy watching these videos.
They probably already had the condition and want to hide the fact and make it seem like it was their intentional doing.
Ok,boomer.
This procedure isn’t making most of these women in their 20s look like they’re in their 30s, it’s making them look like they’re in their 40s, or some of them even in their 50s.
hollywood kills souls
Me and my sisters all got our great grandpas so-called chubby cheeks and it is what makes us appear 5 to 12 years younger than we actually are. We have cheeks like a baby and love the fact! Not some sucked in cadaver, who wants to look like that my goodness!
It makes them look like men if you ask me. They look terrible.
I’m 56 yo and my face looks waaaaay younger than these chicks. They look like walking skeletons; they look horrible. There’s nothing “high fashion” about removing buccal fat from your face.
@@Frenchblue8 same here. I am 51 and feel my chubby cheeks make me look younger than some women in their 30s-as we age, we need that extra fat.
I had a friend who got that surgery at 20 and it immediately made her look like she is 40. No one believes her real age because of how old the surgery made her look, specially because she was already quite refined facially
Oh no. That sucks!!
Woww, that's sad.
Silly woman 😢
That is so sad. Especially since it’s permanent.
Was it buckle fat removal?
I’m so thankful for the plastic surgeon I was a nanny for in my early 20’s. He told me to not do anything to my face until I was in my late 30’s, no botox, nothing, because you don’t know how you’re going to age and doing things to your face too early augment’s your facial structure. I’m now 41 and so happy I listened, because I’m happy with how I’m aging.
what do you mean by "augments your facial structure" ?
Getting Botox in your 20s won’t change the shape of your face, it just prevents static wrinkles, which is superficial.
@@padelackles botox over time spreads to different parts of your face, so yes it changes the shape of your face
Same. I didn't start until my 40s. And it's only been to preserve, not change. I think that's the huge mistake in the trends. I feel sorry for the generation growing up with fake photos on Instagram everywhere so the comparisons are endless.
@@keysjams4leo965 I don't think that's correct. Filler spreads through your face - but Botox just temporarily paralyzes the muscles into which it's injected, so its presence is very temporary, and your muscle gains its strength and mobility back after a few short months and you have to keep getting Botox to continue to paralyze the muscle, forever, until you don't want to paralyze it anymore.
I live in Brazil and plastic surgery is a HUGE thing here. We had this buccal fat removal hype a few years ago and I've seen a good amount of people who had this procedure turn out to regret it and spending 10x more money to "fix" it (or at least make their faces less flacid).
how do they fix it ?
@@neverlookback7039 they have a few options to minimize the saggy aspect of the skin etc but buccal fat removal is irreversible. I saw one brazilian RUclipsr talk about how she spends more money on trying to make her face look less flacid after a few years of buccal fat removal.
@neverlookback7039 they have a fat transfer and/or filler. Watch to the very end of this video

I don't know which Brasil you live in. But certainly it is not the same as mine.
I’ve always had a naturally sculpted face. Now at age 41 I’m really noticing fat loss in my face. Please don’t do this to yourself! I really believe most people will regret it later.
36 & same story! it seems insane that people (with naturally beautiful & completely normal facial shapes) are removing fat from their faces, of all places.
At 61 I've really noticed my face slimming with age. I wonder how well these women will age that have had the fat removed from their faces. I also wonder if they'll have to put fat back after they age!
Wouldn't it be better to just get cheekbone implants or something. I am getting to the age where I am looking at things. Just see so many weird choices. This doctor is my favorite though.
@@jessicah7755 I mean, if you are super insecure about your face, but most people don’t need it and different face shapes are nice. I think you shouldn’t change your face, especially for a trend. But there are many things that can go wrong and it can also ruin your face, so I’d make sure you have thought about it for a long time..like maybe a few years. Make sure you find a good surgeon and never go for a deal….cheaper prices means less quality. I had a nose job a few years ago and I had wanted one since I was very young. I was 100% sure, found the best doctor and I also didn’t drastically change my nose. It’s the same, just smaller.
7:51 she when from hottest young girl on the block to a 45 yo trout choking on a bicycle saddle
My ex-wife was from Russia and she had body dysmorphia that was mostly centered around her face. She would constantly get the puffy lip procedure done. I tried for numerous years to tell her how beautiful she looked and did not need to fatten her lips. It actually became a huge issue. It was never enough. Now our daughter is doing it. It really broke my heart to see my daughter do it, since she was always naturally gorgeous.
So sad :(
i'm sorry to hear this. sometimes u just gotta tell people how stupid they look in order to help them. it is wrong to emulate these celebrities because they are so extreme.
I'm really sad that the mother's personal issues got passed down to her daughter too, someone needs to break the cycle of insecurity
Your daughter???
This is EXACTLY why I have refused to get anything done, despite not always being happy with the way I look. I always, always, always saw my momma as such a beautiful woman growing up (everyone else does too) and now that I am older, I am starting to look like her. If she would of gotten something done, as a young and impressionable girl who looked up to my mother, I would of certainly thought something was so wrong with the way God made me, that I would need to alter it permanently. I don’t have children, yet (Lord willing 🙏), but I know there is a chance they will come out looking like me, and would never want them to think that anything was wrong with the way they look.
This is absolutely wild to me. I was always told growing up that faces thin out with ageing. I was skeptical as i still had a full face in my 20s, but now in my 30s it has indeed thinned out. Why are we all obsessed with being young but not looking young
So much this. I’m 41 and this surgery is a long term disaster. Yikes.
Same
Im 48 years old and I still have a full face and people think I’m much younger because of it. Do not do this surgery under any circumstance because it ages you.
@LC I'm 38 and people peg me as being in my mid-late 20s bc of my youthful face. It's not super full/round like some people's. But man, if I removed my buccal fat I'd immediately look like a corpse.
Exactly!!!
I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and my face naturally looks like this, it's wild that people are trying to look like sick people.
Same here. I don’t even think plastic surgery would work on us as our skin is so stretchy and thin.
I used to hate my round face when I was younger (teens/20s). One pleasant surprise that came after I turned 30 is how I now appreciate my whole face, including my round cheeks. (They also make me look younger so it's a win/win)
Everything trendy I might want to try can be done with makeup 🤷♀️
When I was in university I lost a lot of weight and my baby cheeks were gone, everybody kept saying that...i didnt look great and finally i was able to look at myself and see that what made me "me" was what i used to dislike : my cheeks. Now I love them, Im 35 looking like a 20 year old person but I love it because while others look way way older I still keep my young look

buccal fat removal makes majority of women look worse but it makes majority of men look better.really don't understand all these women making themselves look worse
Same I hated my round face growing up but I am 22 now, and my face has slim down naturally a bit and I finally love my look.
I am glad I never changed any part of my face with surgery, you really do grown into your features
Absolutely. That's what I do. Not that difficult.
I’m only gonna say this: I’m 36 and I am seeing my face getting more and more chizzled as I get older and lose some wieght, I am truly happy that I had a rounder face to start with! I feel like people in their early 20s don’t really think much about the Impact that their tweakments may have in the future.
Yea people with less fat in thst area definitely age differently. Very important point to remember!
I can't wait to sit back & watch 😅
Yea I'm 33 and started off with a normal/skinny face, I'm noticing that I'm starting to look gaunt under my cheekbones, in my temples, and under my eyes. Not skeletal gaunt, but like Bella Hadid gaunt. I look at my friends who had really puffy round faces in their 20s (now 33) and they still look like they're 25. I look my age, but I can tell I'm going to look VERY gaunt when I'm like 70.
@@tammyszu3570 same plus I lost 28lbs. I just turned 39 and would say I look around 30 but when I get older im gonna look gaunt for sure

He is very tranquil and cool. His honesty is refreshing.
I have a full face, its genetic, my whole family does. Its something I don't particularly like about myself and I had looked into buccal fat as the trend moved that way. However as I am only 27, your video among others, has been so helpful to steer me away from it, as now I know that over time, the surface fat will go down, and ill be grateful to not have removed my buccal fat in another 10-20 years!
I'm glad that you reconsidered having the surgery. I am almost 60 and my face is much more angular and slim than it was when I was younger. I wish that people wouldn't have unnecessary surgeries. Its one thing if you've been in an accident and need facial reconstruction but to carve your face when the real problem is that you think you're ugly or have to compete with others won't solve the problem. In that case its an interior, not an exterior problem.
"What may look good now may not look good in 10-15 years" 👏
No problem. Than the buccal filler will become popular :)
@@Guus115 as the doctor said you can not fill the buccal fat compartment properly as it is so deep.

I was shocked to find out Amelia Hamlin is only 21. She looks a solid 35 with all those procedures. All buccal fat removal does is age you, which is ironic coming from a society that’s so youth obsessed.

She looks like she could be my mom and I'm 22.
The pics of Sophie Turner shocked me too. Especially the pic where she's pregnant and instead of glowing she looks like skeletor in the face 😱
It makes faces look older. The surgery adds 20 years to their age.
Madonna looks like the caricature of an alien from outer space. Her look gives me goosebumps.

Madonna is a shadow of herself, if she thinks she looks great good for her she is 65. Most people at 65 are fat and look terrible. So I can't blame her.

"Consider keeping it and not getting it cut out" the sweetest line. I love how you are educational but non-judgemental and kind at the same time - really beautiful. Anyone would be lucky to have you as their doctor!
I have to say, this whole trend around buccal fat removal has made me have a new appreciation for my full cheeks. Trend cycles in cosmetic procedures are so alarming to me, as you said it’s not exactly something that can be easily reversed, if at all
as a guy, the buccal fat removal seems to make women look masculine, which of course most men dislike. Most men dislike all plastic surgery that women get actually. we like natural, and the only men that will tell you otherwise are those that only are interested in hookups.
@@Falcons8455 I know you probably meant this comment genuinely, but it’s worth noting that not everything women do is hinged on whether or not a man will like it
@@Strawberryforlifeoh yeah u do it for yourself lol

@@Strawberryforlife it is simply natural that men want to attract women and women want to attract men. Maybe some genuinely do it for other reasons, but I'd say it is fair to say that most do it to look attractive to the other sex.
As someone who would’ve killed to have high sculpted cheekbones, I’m soooo glad these videos are being done and now I appreciate my full face and just contour my cheeks, it really helps! 😁
EXACTLY what I was thinking! Do the skull contour. It’s $20-50 for brush & contour, and it’s REMOVABLE.
I've watched enough plastic surgery videos to know that removing any fat from the face (except maybe a double chin) is a bad idea. Some of these celebrities don't even look like themselves any more. They just looks like a generic trendy face. People with full faces look much younger when they age!
Haha in Korea it's the opposite most people want narrow faces with no noticeable cheekbone. I have high cheekbones and was constantly teased about it growing up😂 I still don't see how its desireable
@@bria7885 I think these cross cultural comparisons are really helpful because it shows how arbitrary and harmful these 'trendy beauty standards are'. For example in the US caucasian women are pressured to look like thin models whereas I have some Black model friends who want to be more curvy and voluptuous because they were criticized for being 'too skinny' and not 'feminine' enough. It's really toxic and harmful to women. I was watching a Korean show on Netflix and all the young actors had these porcelain complexions that looked pale and flawless like china cups. I think they actually blurred the cameras even on the men to get it to look like they had no skin texture.
I have high cheek bones…it makes me look like I have a HUGE face. My mom’s face is even bigger. Not looking forward to aging with high cheekbones.
Just a reminder: no one is forcing you to jump on a plastic surgery trend. Choose what you want, but take responsibility for your choice, regardless of which you choose.
I agree. I find it weird when people shift the responsibility onto the society. It's just some people liking the look and deciding to chase it even if it takes plastic surgery.
O but fashion Magazine manipulate young people that this is necessary vogue front page model done buccal fat surgery
@jasonblack4208 - Yes, take responsibility and start saving the money for the reversal you'll need down the line.
That was my thought too. She’s really going over the top in the main video saying we “have” to have it. No, we don’t. It’s up to us to make our own decisions, and they need to be informed ones. We aren’t mindless drones forced into procedures.
@@Igor-ug1uothank you. What happened to personal accountability??? So tired of ppl trying to rationalize their behavior by saying "society" made them do this.

Yes, she’s absolutely STUNNING 🤎
I just looked her up and WOW 🥺✨
I've always appreciated models with full faces. I think they're incredibly doll-like and the prominence of their cheeks in conjunction with other "unconventional" features can have a very ethereal and striking effect. Lily Cole, Devon Aoki, Gemma Ward, Lindsey Wixson are all names that stood out to me growing up
She's indeed a beauty and looks so youthful.
I think full cheeks look so cute and Adut really helped me to get over one of my biggest insecurities that was full and round cheeks (even though I have an oval face shape, it looks rounder because of my chubby cheeks) and now I feel so satisfied about them💗

@Xuěhuā it's elevating a sick-looking emaciated face.
Ppl who can't afford plastic surgery will attempt to get this look other ways. Do you think those ways will be healthy? No.
Back in the late 80s and 90s, we had "heroin chic" glorifying a gaunt sickly look. How many young women suffered and died from anorexia nervousa as a result of trying to restrict their food to be thin enough to fit the beauty standard.
Myself, as a sick person with a wasting disease, do you know how many ppl started telling me how beautiful and gorgeous I looked when my face was skin and bones?
I was a skeleton and extremely ill, but younger women especially said I looked like a model.
Now that I've fought so hard to survive and to be a good healthy weight, now ppl think I'm insecure about my weight gain lol.
We've completely lost sight of what a "healthy" weight looks like on women. So yes, buccal fat removal does mimic illness, and being underweight. It's nothing ppl should emulate.
I must say I appreciate this plastic surgeons’ transparency. As a mom of 5 daughters it terrifies me that this is even a thing. There is a reason we have this deeper fatty tissue in our face!!

As a kid, I was constantly compared to Wednesday Addams (Christina Ricci) and hated how round my heart shaped face was. I wanted to look more like my hero, Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver). However, as I aged and lost a lot of baby fat due to puberty, my features have become sharper and more defined. At 39 years old, it's kinda awesome to have people constantly think I'm nearly 10-15 years younger due to my chubby cheeks and I'm definitely okay with that ^_^
I have a feeling we look a lot alike lol. I too was compared to Ricci as a kid (sometimes still now), I’ve also been compared to Sigourney Weaver now such my cheekbones became really prominent. That’s so random and funny

And look at Ricci now -- her face is very angular in her 40s. No one needs buccal fat surgery -- nature does it all for you.
“These trends they’re fleeting yet the surgical results are permanent” 💯💯💯 This statement is so true, and it’s the real issue people need to be aware of.
Amazing video, specially highlighting the fact that these procedures come with serious risks, which nobody seems to think about before getting many risky cosmetic surgeries in general, and not just about beauty standards.

@@guntertorfs6486 Yeah, I got similiar thoughts... I think it's easier for her to critisize how much people can be obsessed with beauty standards, because she can easily fit in it, so she don't need to obsess that she can't fit when she already achieved the goal of fitting beauty standards, so she don't need to worry that it's not achievable for her... She's an influencer, after all... It's just a whim for her if she's obsessing about her beauty and acceptance problem, not the real struggle of a person who don't fit in but would like to fit and diet or undergo surgical procedures to prove themselves that they can be pretty if they want to. And even despite talking so much about how natural is good, she's always (from all videos which I've seen) presents herself in a makeup, and quite a heavy one, which comes across for me as hipocritical... But I'm forgiving her as she's doing good job anyway :) She's just basically very much the same to the people she critics (which don't invalidates points she makes actually).
Still dunno, it's a weird that she is not going for more natural look with the topic of her channel from even just business point of view... Especially that it's not like she would need to give up all beauty treatments. Currently it's in fashion to present yourself as natural, and due to that there is wide range of treatments available, so she could easily still have multiple beauty enhancements on her which would give her much effortless look, which would suit her channel domain better... But maybe she just don't want to be hipocrite after all and pretend that she's all natural while in the same time she had permanent makeup (henna + nude lips), natural looking fake lashes, natural looking make-up no make-up and all of that stuff.
@@magdadom2505 I agree with you that she comes across hypocritical. She can’t be this strongly against others tweaking and editing themselves to fit the unrealistic beauty standards when she has caked on make up. Like if she wants to go hard on exposing others then practice what you preach sister 🙌
@@Panda-hf4xs she’s allowed to look the way she wants… just because she’s matching current beauty standards doesn’t mean she’s not allowed to speak out and help other people… YOU are the hypocrites in this case
People aren't doing it to stand out, they're doing it to fit in with the latest beauty trend
So sad people can't just let themselves look the way they are
Say that.... They all end up looking the same. Having a natural look is considered unique these days. I feel that being natural will never go out of style.
Especially when Zoomer generation is saying what their sexual identity is based on how the identify themselves--- their message is "I am not conforming to society's label of what I should look/sound/act like."
It's paradoxically both...
I don’t wanna sound blunt or insensitive, but it’s because a lot of those people don’t have an individual thought of their own. They see an “influencer” or a celebrity do it and think they have to do it too. I’m gonna ruffle some feathers but many people on apps like Tiktok have no independent thoughts or opinions. They’re a collective like the Borg from Star Trek. Sadly, they’ll regret getting this surgery.
Celebrities do it to stand out. Then others do it to be like the celebrities and all look similar. Then another celebrity does something else to stand out...
My friend got her buccal fat removed and under eye filler/lip filler. Now idk if it’s because the filler has migrated but it doesn’t look like she had anything removed. Her face actually looks swollen and bigger now. It’s been over a year and it hasn’t really looked any different other than bigger.
Did she gain weight?
Weird
Filler does migrate and not all of it is removed.
Oh god 🤦🏽♀️
@@1Skorpia how does a small amount of lip filler swell up your whole face with migration though?
When you are young , they want to hollow it out, when you are old they want to fill it up! Good grief 😂😅
lmao ikr you can’t win 😅😭😭

I never thought Lurch from the Addams family would become the beauty standard
I see men in makeup. Strong jaws and sunken cheeks.
What a coincidence! I just watched your other buccal fat removal video last night because it was in my suggestions.

So refreshing to see a doctor who is honest about procedures!
The doctor seems like one of those chill friends in your group who you'd be able to rely on for good conversation and advice. So chill and calming.
I was in my 20’s during the 1990’s and had a very full face. I went to see a plastic surgeon to see if he could do this surgery on me. He said no bc I would regret it in my 50’s as your face reduces volume at this age and I would look older and gaunt. I’m glad I listen to him as I am now 55 and my face looks actually younger thanks to leaving my 20 yr old full face alone. 😅
I knew a very sweet woman who had filler in her cheeks. By her 70s they had hollowed so much it really bothered her. She had a very nice result. You're right, this is the other side to it. And these ladies are likely to see a day they regretted doing this so young.
That said, some people truly do have an uneven heaviness to their cheeks and this procedure can look great. I'm not seeing that kind of face on any of these celebs.
I am also 55 yo and I still have a very full face. I never thought of having any procedures done though. Not to brag, but I have always looked younger than I am(good genes?). I do think these young women will regret the procedures because I thought I wanted my face to get a little thinner as I aged, but now I see how beneficial it is to have a nice full face!
Me too, i had chubby cheeks and I was very fit and in shape. I had it done and loved it, I still love it today.
And also I get mistaken for being in my 20s-early 30s so I don’t think I look older at all.😊
I am over fifty and have chubby cheeks. People always thinks I'm much younger.
Lea's face really shocked me the most. She already had a nice face shape. I really did not understand why she did that. Stephanie is really nice to say some of these didn't look bad. They actually really did look bad.
You're so calm, so chill. Tuned in for professional opinion, but will stay for the attitude. Love it. Also, protect buccal fat at all cost.
Every surgeon I’ve met and had personally is calm and chill. I think it’s essential for the profession. Either that, or a big ego.
@@katie.e.g. the oral surgeon I assist is super calm. So I deffinetly have witnessed that. Deffinetly a thing .
I like how you brought up the fact the surgery could go wrong or you can have adverse reactions to certain surgery drugs they use not to mention the stress can not be good for you especially if something goes wrong spin into depression. If you take good care of yourself its free .
These women are crazy to go after a trend that basically hollows out your face. While it may look good in your 20's because you still have collagen that gives a youthful look, in the 30's and 40's is a different matter. I'm in my 40's and my cheeks does not give that bouncy and youthful look any longer. I do not want to look "gaunt" or chiseled. This trend is ridiculous ,imo.
I would not say crazy, body dysphoria affects people to take surgeries just as eating disorders. And sadly hollywood is carnage
True. I’m in my forties too and the skin is surely more loose. I just don’t want to imagine hoe I looked like without buccal fat.
same i naturally lost fat and i wanna have that bouncy look back with fat grafting
Never have I ever been more happy to have my high chubby cheeks. Now that I’m in my mid 30s people always think I’m still in mid 20s. Thanks to my mother who told me not to alter my face as trends come and go. Also that small imperfections make a person look unique which will help you stand out from the rest. Looking after your skin is much more important and that when time comes I’ll be grateful for that. Thanks mom !!!
I'm going to teach my daughter this too. 😁 we have big noses, but it's a unique ancestral nose. I'm never going to complain about my body around her. If she's bothered about something I'll help her find the right haircut, glasses, fit of clothes. We have to work with what we got. 👍a happy and healthy person is always glowing.
@@amberblack6908 I ❤️ big noses!!! It's unique, and distinctive, and is something that doesn't need "fixed"!
Me too!
I'd love a podcast about people talking about their plastic surgeries and their thought process through it. I mean, we have tattoo artists and piercers talking with clients explaining what's behind their decisions. It would be interesting to hear the rest of the modified peeps.
Lorry hill❤️
I have aged and I’ve also experienced many occurrences of sickness and lost so much weight and my face has slimmed down. I have naturally high cheekbones and with Hollow cheeks and-and I guess I’m on trend right now
and I try to remember that my face is beautiful regardless but mentally been hard for me because I feel like I must look like a skeleton 💀
I know that’s in my head but it’s really hard when I see my face in the mirror to remember that I don’t look like a skeleton and I don’t look Old and wasted away
so this is just like interesting for me to hear but I guess the plus side I am on Trend right now for a moment at least
We are always at our worst critics
I liked when he talked about normalizing what risks there are with this. Nobody talks about the risks and I'd like to hear more about that
I remember this from the 1990s when "heroin chic" was becoming a trend and "House of Style" on MTV followed a model going to a dentist for the procedure so that she could book more jobs. The model complained of pain levels as the dentist was pulling the fat pad out and he told her to "shut up" so he could finish. It was sobering to say the least.
OMG!!!! 😳
! 😮
Wow I wish I could see that episode.
A dentist could do that?!
@Molly H. Johns Dentists ARE doing that. Even injecting fillers 😬
I'm glad my mother told me I didn't need to copy every fad. Beauty standards are constantly changing and fads are temporary. She taught me that doing something permanent to myself to be part of something temporary is something i would come to regret. She thinned her eyebrows because that was popular in her day but now the thicker eyebrow is the look and her eyebrows are thinning more with age. Now she wishes she never messed with her eyebrows at all. She also told me to hold on to my favorite clothing items because everything comes back in style eventually.
Good mom and good advice
During my whole childhood, my mom’s only makeup was the same one Khôl eyeliner and one lipstick, and she only wore those on big occasions. She taught me by example that natural beauty is more than enough. I did grow up to love makeup, but I’m just as comfortable with my bare face, and that’s thanks to her.
She’s right. I was verbally bullied in school from having natural thick eyebrows in 90s, I didn’t care 😅I think it’s beautiful, got it from my mom’s genetic. I see those people now pay $$ to have thick eyebrows or got their eyebrows tattooed
Your mom is and was wise woman.
I tell my girls this! My brows used to be so thick. They thinned with each baby. I make my teen daughters do my brows now. They have to look at them anyway. 😅😅
NO END...same thing I said..."trends are fleeting" but surgery compromises the original composition, not to mention could disfigure you for life, or God forbid worse...
I personally will never get cosmetic plastic surgery, but I really appreciate plastic surgeons with ethics who refuse to do treatments they find unethical, and don’t just push every trendy surgery on you.
In Tijuana, Mx this procedure became a trend a couple of years ago and it was easy to access these surgeries in private hospitals and reputable surgeons but for a much lower price than mentioned. Several people I know had it done and I decided not to do it, good thing I trusted my intuition.
It's still a trend, and some dentists do.that!?!
@@youtube_user9110 yeah, they literally sell you as a combo lol. buccal fat removal and lipo in the chin/jaw area
@@youtube_user9110 yes! Some dentists do it too!
Why this girl is so polite and afraid to say that they look ugly? I mean after the surgery. Demi Moore and Madonna even look frightening...
This surgery has been a trend in my country for about 6 years, recently many women are coming out with horrible stories about how badly it aged and warning girls to stay away from it.
hi - so where do you live, please. :) 🌷
Are you brazilian? Because it has been a trend around here, too (along with "facial harmonization").
There is something very calming and poetic about Dr. Linkov's voice. 🤗🤗
I think it's amazing to consider that at some point in history in certain cultures the "cherubic cheeks" were the ideal! People wore wax pads to plump out this area and have a rounder face. It's all trends.
At least those weren’t permanent. Just don’t get too close to the candles at dinner, maybe? 😂
I hated my "dutch cheeks" as a child and now at almost 40 I just hope not to grow whiskers on my face 😆
although in victorian times, or whatever, chubby may have been stylish, I think the reason being overweight never gains very much traction is b/c it's an indication of eating too much and no exercise, which are indications of a lack of self control, which are usually unappealing traits. It's also often an indication of pregnancy which usually puts someone Off the dating market, again, not highly sought after by potential suiters. Just saying....
This is why I've never and will never be a sheep
This man has the most calming demeanor. 🕊
i remember being a teen and listening to "mr brightside" on repeat, and one thing i loved about that song was its music video. i was enchanted by the girl's full, baby cheeked face and considered her the absolute embodiment of beauty.
fast forward to me being 23, i was super insecure about my image and was bombarded with this "high fashion", hollowed out look. i went to my surgeon and asked for this procedure and im glad he debunked it all and talked me out of it.
now, 1½ year later, im very happy with my buccal fat and im thankful for surgeons like him and dr. Linkov for not endorsing this surgery.
embrace and cherish your buccal fat ! it won't be there forever xxx
She is called Iza Miko and I agree, she was (and still is) gorgeous in that music video
I also had one of those surgeons who was kind enough to tell me "No". I will forever be grateful to him and recommend him to any of my friends who are looking for a doctor (he may tell them "yes", but at least it will be an honest opinion). I think so highly of him and always will. He's a good man. I'm glad you found someone like him.
i'm in my mid-twenties, and after having had full cheeks my entire life, i'm starting to lose some of the babyfat in my face now. it's a much less drastic look than what was shown in the video, but it certainly makes a difference! So yeah, embrace your youthful cheeks while you have them, and at the same time you can look forward to aging and gaining a more mature kind of beauty 👵
The only famous face that looked good with the hollow cheeked look was Katharine Hepburn. It was her natural bone structure/fat distribution and she did look great, but not everyone can carry off that look.
Mostly ppl who are naturally born with that bone structure look good with that bcz other parts are in their place according to that and it all comes together nicely
i absolutely hate this. even when young women in their 20s do it they look 10+ years older, so imagine when fat depletes over time and they get older, i'm sure they'll be running to fat transfers and rejuvenations. THAT SAID, i think in some very limited cases some people would actually highly benifit from a conservative buccal fat removal, with a very certain face tissue and bone structure some actually do look genuinely better with the removal.
Yes, some would like me. I got it done because after gaining weight i was struggling (i used to had an ed) with my face and i wanted my face back. So i got it done and i have never been happier.
Yes but when you age if you don’t gain weight it happens naturally after 30/35 …
They look 70 + . I work in a nursing home and these young girls look like old women.
@@1Skorpia i agree i just wanted to be respectful 🥲😂
@@EmyUrban also agree i’m 30 and the last 2 years my face became very sculpted and thin. With age yes but also using gua sha too, which i started skipping my cheeks when i do it and just scoop under them and sweep up lightly because it made my cheeks too thin if that makes any sense. A plunper face is generally better looking and more aging- friendly but some people do benefits from such procedures.
The girl who is saying she would never do this , already has a perfect face. She is zero percent relatable to anyone else who wants this done.
Exactly, I'm midsize, I had chubby cheeks and had this procedure at 23, i'm 26 now and still look amazing because I was ELEGIBLE for the surgery :)
I got this look back in 2016 due to having my wisdom teeth removed. One day I looked in the mirror and I looked liked The Scream painting. I hated it. I’ve built it back up with face yoga and mewing and so glad I did. I’m 50 and I think it made me look unwell and I was younger then. I think the buccal fat removal can make a woman look a bit manly
Did it add fat to your face? If so pls share more thank you so much❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mewing…?
@@shortcake66 Breathing through your nose and pressing tongue to roof of mouth. The way you should hold your mouth is called mewing for some reason
@@boethia7367 Oh, ok! I wonder why… 🤔
@@shortcake66 for me, mewing has been amazing, I’ve always worn a retainer but the tongue acts as a natural brace. My teeth are the straightest they’ve ever been. My upper palate expanded and the jaw caught up with that expansion. I’d say do some research before you start doing it but for me, it’s been amazing. Face yoga helped me build the masseter muscle back up

I have so much respect for you as a healthcare professional you could be profiting off of this procedure instead you’re telling people why it might be a bad idea. I wish every practitioner had your ethics thank you so much for doing what you do
Same. Probably only surgeon I would go to, because he would actually really give me a proper advice and suggestions.
I used to have a coworker who was studying to become a dentist. Sometimes I would talk to her about these trends that used to appear, like those super white teeth and ruining healthy teeth to put on prostheses and she, as a future dentist, always gave me several interesting insights. About BFR she used to tell me never to do it. She explained to me that fat is what holds our face in place and that if someone who was my age (I was 22 at the time) do it this procedure I would automatically look about 10 years older and as time went by it would get worse and worse. I never really wanted to do that because I always thought it was an extreme look and talking to her made me realize that this should be a big NO because it certainly isn't healthy over time.
What did she say about the "super white teeth”…?
@@Colls-m8iI wanna know this too 😂
Great that your friend is a dentist and has been honest and offered you some great guidance. My dentist on the other hand convinced me to damage my perfectly good teeth. He convinced me to crown my front teeth damaging the enamel and making my teeth weak.

As someone with chubby cheeks/round face, I always had issues with my roundness. Seeing those girls even younger than me (I'm 23) have that surgery break my heart bc I know when they reach 30 they would just look way older. Our face change with age
I have always had the same issue. I am in my mid 30s and I get carded every time though… with a look of suspicion by the cashier 😅
just wait 3 years and you will have the perfect face, right now it is also perfect but cute and young look .
I enjoy Stephanie’s videos and it’s great to hear your professional take on her comments.
As someone who’s into Kpop, this has been popular for a while (obviously also in the west, there’s some older examples). And you can clearly see how badly these people age. When you compare the idols, who got this procedure and/or a jaw shave done to ones who are the same age and didn’t get it done, they look so much older. And you really start noticing it in their late 20s/early 30s. Clearly the companies don’t actually care, cause they know that especially girl groups have shorter life spans and they can replace them with another group full of early 20s girls once they’re in their 30s
Do you have examples so I can look them up? I have a hard time telling when idols have plastic surgery
@@gucciasalways i suggest looking up kwon eunbi. she had a much plumper face back then. now it looks a bit slimmer.
Someone I follow online had a major change to her face a few months ago and I think this is it. I think she looked better before.
I love this guy. He obviously cares about his patients by really hammering home how dangerous these procedures can be, and how difficult it would be to reverse them, a few more surgeons should take a leaf out of his book.
I absolutely LOVE your reactions to Stephanie's videos. Thank you
The irony of this is that they are getting their buccal fat removed to appear younger and yet provides the opposite effect with them looking aged well beyond their years.
I heard stories about Joan Crawford back in the day, removing her back teeth for the same effect. That later messed up her teeth and she suffered a lot of infections because of it. Marlene Dietrich also had the same procedure and I think they called it “the buckle“
If she got a lot of infections from teeth being removed it’s not cuz of the surgery it’s cuz she dirty ☠️ plenty of ppl get teeth removed with no issue me included ☠️ she wasn’t taking care of her mouth
I so appreciate your transparency and would love to hear interviews with celebrities or civilians who have had procedures done, too.
oh no! you want to put fat in your aging cheeks, not remove fat!
Love how you bring up the risks. Finally a surgeon who cares
I really admire the honesty of Dr. Linkov with wise advice.
My cheeks have always been chubby and I was bullied at school for it. I'm 36 now, everyone thinks I'm 25 and they say I have an angelic doll face. I'm also very pale, which used to be desirable centuries ago (tanned skin was ugly and the sign of the lower class working under the sun). Today, it's the opposite, so everyone tells me I need a tan. Beauty trends are ridiculous.
Come to Korea they love pale skin
I never had a full face or apple cheeks. I never really thought about it, unless someone commented on my high cheekbones. But now, at 60, even though I'm 40 pounds overweight, my undercheek area is sunken in. I can't imagine how gaunt I'd look if I'd had my buccal fat pads removed. Trust me, that fullness starts disappearing as you age. Enjoy your facial fat while you have it.☺️
I feel like at this point, NOT getting plastic surgery is what makes you unique. 🤔
Honestly SO MUCH RESPECT to people who are up front about getting work done, celebrities especially.
They need to stop it and remain authentic. Don't understand wanting to be a reproduction.
Me too, because if you give a million i still no brave to do it, i did same sirugia to removed o growth in my face, and the pain!!!!!! I don't do nothing that no need .
I really appreciate your honesty and desire to make these topics more transparent.
I've noticed some ladies getting work done too early in their lives that by the time they are my age they look so old. It's very sad it's like they are aging faster or at least look like it not reversing.
I’ve been considering Buccal fat removal for the last 3 years, but now that all these videos are coming out I’m trying harder to love my full cheeks. For me it’s more of the lower part of my cheeks that just looks so heavy
You are very beautiful as you are. You don't need to change a thing.
No way you're pretty and look young. Just contour differently if you must but def don't mess with your face. With age you will lose a little fullness anyways.
You have a nice face. Don't mess with it!
When you hit your mid 40s, YOU WILL THANK THE STARS 🌟, you left your face alone. YOU WILL NEED THAT FAT to still look youthful in your 40s and 50s.
I had buccal fat removal in July and it was great! The doctor was very modest so most ppl came tell. I’ve just had people tell me I’ve lost weight. If you find a good doctor it’s worth it. My cheeks don’t look hollow though just slimmer, which I’m fine with.
The brows are looking strong, Doc.
I believe there is a real difference between people who follow trends for attention and people who have psychological issues projected onto parts of their body. back in school we had girls who were made self-conscious about their "hamster cheeks" by others. sometimes one mean comment will stick with you for years, and you start seeing things in the mirror that are not an issue to begin with.
I would love to see you AND Stephanie do a Podcast together talking about beauty trends and plastic surgery sometimes with celebs.
My friend had this surgery years ago as it was very popular in Mexico and she wanted less of a "cheeky"/round face. She's beautiful either way, but I think media and the beauty/modeling industry is a main contributor to this trend as my friend was trying to enter (and now is within) the entertainment industry.
