I think this tribute for Lucy was the last time all the Golden Age of Hollywood were in the same room together for a great occasion like this! Sammy Davis Jr. Gave the most beautiful tribute to Lucy! it was so genuine and so thorough! I feel the same way!
A true Original- how couldn't you love someone who gave people so much laughter and joy.
I don't know about you guys...... but this video is filled with a bunch of legends. Lets see, I saw Jimmy Stewart, Sinatra, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Burt Reynolds, Stephanie Powers, George Hamilton, Lucy, Dione Warwick, Sammy Davis Jr., Ted Danson, and on the other parts that I'm about to see I imagine a lot more legends. Thanks to danrag for taking the time of putting this fantastic masterpiece on youtube. Before youtube I dreamed of a place that would have anything I wanted to see like this video !!
Thanks so much for posting this whole thing great!! And of course Lucy's acceptance speech in the end was very moving
Thanks for posting! This was when Hollywood was CLASS-look who the redhead brought out to celebrate - Sinatra, Clark Gable, Sammy Davis, Jr., Jimmy Stewart. Wow, great memories....
No Clark Gable. Clark died in 1961.
she is the cutest thing
Thank you SO much, I have been looking for this special!!
I love this! I find myself smiling the entire way though. Thank u so much for uploading it :)
Thanks for the Lucy footage!
AMAZING!!!
Damn to have SINATRA sing to you must be the APEX of knowing you made it!
How pretty the room with all the Poinsettia.
I love Joan Collins. Man can she pull off some bold looks like no other.
They honored Burt Reynolds BEFORE Lucille Ball? Incredible.
I was floored by that too - really???
do you have the Sinatra All-Star Party? pleeeeease!
aw i LOVE lucy!!!!..she is so cute!
Do you have the Burt Reynolds All Star Party?
Splice it all together! You might get more views too! People don't want to watch old TV shows in 7min parts. It's sorta annoying? Just sayin.
lucy and desi jr are there too
I don't think Clark Gable was able to attend. He died in 1961. This was 1984.
Frank: How ya doin? How ore ya?
what was Lucy Ball theme song
"Hey Look Me Over" from the play Wildcat.
yes it's Betty
She called Dionne Warwick, Diane,
She meant Dionne.
Looks like Lucy got her fair share of celebrities, family and friends to come celebrate her achievements and career.
Anyone know where this was held?
Lol look at Gary in the background
bea arthur was also present..
She spoke to her. Bea Arthur said she thought Lucy was miscast as Auntie Mame.
What year was this?
1984 I google it to find out the year.
The MC actually said it was 1984 Variety Club Honour in the video, and in the description too
1984
With all the fake hair at the head table they could have played a game of musical wigs.
Oops....I meant Cary Grant, NOT Clark Gable. Tee hee!
Too bad Viv wasn't there. Lucille Ball was one of the classiest legends God gave us! WE DO LOVE YOU LUCY!
WTF was Stephanie Powers wearing?
@imusinthemorning I have a feeling she mistook her for Diahann Carroll...
Gee... even with the quality of the VHS transfer you can barely tell Joan Collins is reading a teleprompter.
Shame Desi Aranz wasn't there, I'd invite him over Gary Morton any day
Desi could have been there with his wife Edith (she had Lucy had been friends) and sat with their children, Desi Jr and Lucie Arnaz
lol...she called dionne warwick diane.
Gable? He had been gone for 24 years
Gary Morton was such a stiff.
You are right on. Desi made Lucy. He was an entertainment icon in his day. He should have been there but likely Gary Morton would have had a major hissy fit. To go from Desi to Gary Morton was such a major step down for Lucy.
@@robrepublic1 Both of them "made"each other - the writers and producer (Openheimer, Bob Carroll Jr. Madelyn Pugh - came from Lucy's radio show - My Favorite Husband; the cinematographer, Karl Freud, Lucy knew from her days in movies) If it weren't for Lucy's insistence, Desi would not have been okayed for the show. I think their partnership worked out brilliantly for both of them. Also, when Lucy and Desi were divorced and he was running the Desilu Studio, the studio was losing money, Cleo said because of his alcoholism, he was not making good decisions. Lucy bought him out and several years later sold it for 17m. 10m went to her and 7m went to the stockholders. Although, she did not like being in charge as well as acting in and producing The Lucy Show, there was no choice and she did it well. She green lit Star Trek and Mission Impossible although CBS turned the shows down.
Do you have the Burt Reynolds All Star Party?
