Very cool trail through northern Michigan!! I’m a Michigander 2hours south of Traverse City. For many years we explored this area and the UP. We are so lucky to have all this natural beauty in our state! 🌲 🏕🛶👍🏻
The video quality on this piece is amazing! Felt like I was right there in the woods! Have such fond memories of peeling birch bark growing up too - for camp fires, drawing on... Always look forward to the birds when I go home to MI - just not as many singing up at 7,300 feet in the foothills of CO.
Very fun walk through, I can't believe you put that beaver wood in your mouth Lol 😅 I love how you came up with your boys names, River and Reed And great tip on how to identify the Pines !🌲 thanks
I'm not a hiker but your enthusiasm is pretty infectious. Also, I learned the difference between red and white pine. I didn't even know I needed that information but now I have it.
Love video presentations like this. The open doors makes one truly appreciate nature, plants and fresh clean air...all taken for granted. Thanks for guiding us along Jack!
Jack, you’re a gift. You would be a wonderful asset to the school system. Teaching horticultural classes & educational field trips through National Parks.
You are a guy after my own heart. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, joy, and enthusiasm! I grew up in the Wisconsin woods and still learned new things from you.
Here from Laura's channel. I really enjoyed the hike. Makes me want to do the same thing ☺️. I live in northwest Georgia. I grew up in the country. I miss it so much!!
Ok-I’ll bet any amount of money you could make walking down a dirt road some kind of magical adventure! You moved through that forest pointing out gems the same way I walk through Target! Instead of scanning isles for sales, I’m definitely headed to the woods, on the hunt for red & white pines! Your many fun facts blow my mind! 🤯 You’re like the bob ross of nature walks! Super fun, I vote more of these from the island!...?
Grandma & Grandpa lived in Traverse City... Cottage on Long Lake Vacationed in the woods for the first 2 weeks of August A great way to grow up Michigan Garden Girl Lansing
🌳🌱A wonderful tour of a most wonderful part of Michigan! Your knowledge is invaluable and most appreciated. Looking forward to seeing more, and anxious for Mackinac displays this year, too! Thank you so much 🌿
Thank you for such a pleasant hike. I wish I could find some morels. My Mother was the best at finding them. She would flour them and then fry in butter! I am 74 years old and I can still smell them frying in my mind . We were from northern Indiana.
Jack, thank you for such a relaxing yet a very informative video. I certainly learned a lot ! ....from a recent subscriber from Toronto, Ontario ! The white trillium is Ontario’s floral emblem!
Here in Central Maine we called your Toad Lily, "Dog Tooth Violets". They look exactly the same and bloom at the same time, so I assume it is the same thing, just named different per region :)
This was so cool! We do the same, when the Grands visit we take them into our N.C. mountains and do these hikes through the woods. We love it! Thanks for the additional info to give them.
That was a Trout Lily. I love Trout Lilies and Toad Lilies which people say look like Orchids but I think they look more like a Passion Flower. LOVE YOUR VIDEO'S
You’re a great gardener and I think you’re adorable. ( I’m 55 so I’m allowed to say that ). I found you through Laura’s channel. I would just like to suggest that your camera person do more of pointing the camera at what you’re talking about, rather than you talking. Closeups too. You point out so many things ie: the vinca. Even pick a flower. We can’t see it. The pine tree. We see you grab the needles. Don’t see the tree. Can’t see the snake... I’ll stay subscribed. I’d love to see your channel grow. I hope you don’t mind constructive criticism because I think you’d gain subscribers if we could see what you’re talking about. If you review all your videos you’ll see the pattern. You’re darn cute, but I think better views and closeups of your subject would be very beneficial to your RUclips success
Thank you so much!!! We will for sure get all of that camera work improved... my usual “camera lady” was out of town... so, my fill in is learning the ropes~ but, we can certainly make these improvements!! Thanks again!
Jack Barnwell Design I really enjoy your videos and watch as soon as you post them. I really hope I didn’t offend. I wish you every success and look forward to watching your channel grow. You’ve inspired myself and my sister to one day visit Macinac Island. Your work there has been a great contribution to its beauty. It’s idyllic and a small leap back in time...

Thanks Jack! I did not know about the number of needles per bundle of “red” or “white” pines. 🤩💕
Its fun to take a hike with a tour guide!

Nature is absolutely Spectacular!!!Never had the opportunity to have a quiet walk in the wood and appreciate the beauty of Nature 😍
You are a guy after my own heart. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, joy, and enthusiasm! I grew up in the Wisconsin woods and still learned new things from you.
Thanks!
This brought back memories of growing up in northeastern Ohio. I spent lots of time in the woods. Thanks, Jack and thanks to your cameraperson!
That looks like a very nice place to hike.
It sure is!
Loved experiencing a Michigan springtime, nature walk. I wish I could see it in person but this was the next best thing! So peaceful!))

I would love to throw a lure in that gorgeous river to see what is bitting!
Thanks for the survey of the plant and tree species!

I'm from the south (Georgia). I enjoy seeing what your part of the country looks like.

I found three growing in my lawn when I mowed yesterday. My wife cooked them right up for us. Delicious.

When God created things it wasn't just to look at the beauty but also to be useful I think everything has a purpose like the tree
I enjoyed the walk. Thank you.
Enjoyable walk in the woods interesting and informative.
Can you tell us more about how you divide your time between Michigan and Florida? Does your whole family go north for summer?

This would have been cute if he had his boys Reed and River him. But I can understand his choice.
You've seen nothing compared to the southern Michigan forests covered in trillium
You put that piece of wood in your mouth and tried to be like a beaver lol! Too much!
Your are missing your pet and parked RV, then the story walk will be fully self contained.
Why do you feel the need to take out your knife and cut into everything and then discard it - such disregard for nature!
