Love 💕 visiting the island with you !!!
wow!! wish i had 1.5 million to do one like this
So beautiful! Aside from all the plant material, I think my favorite part is the natural rock wall along the back of the house, perfect!
Can you comment in the next video about the ongoing maintenance of a landscape like this?
For homeowners with professional landscapers, sure, but for the average person, it seems like alot to keep tidy all year.
It's amazing all the work that goes into each of these homes! Thanks for showing it to us, Jack!
Please show next year! Love it.
WhaaatT..?!...I can't believe this is that same place...wow
Bravo it’s going to look so good once completed, it’s amazing how many plants have covered this landscape to make it look Woodsy. 👍❤️👏
Beautiful work! Love seeing the before and after. Thank you for sharing with us. 🇨🇦
Hey Jack-I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but I have NEVER seen anyone do what you do with ground covers! It is amazing how beautiful it looks when mature, and full of promise when they are ‘babies’! Funny, you are the only other person, than myself, I’ve heard call immature plants ‘babies’. Frankly, I think of ALL my plants as my babies! I think plants talk if you understand the language they speak. It’s a visual language. Wilting signifies something, infestation is communicated in a variety of ways. Ultimately, health is communicated through lush foliage, beautiful blooms, etc.. It’s really a matter of paying attention. And in this location, my favorite style of grounds lighting has been employed!! Thanks for the tour Jack!!
Wow, love the woodland look. We live in the county, our acreage was totally treed and we have clear probably about 2 acres of so we could put our home in. But now I would like to start to remake it back into a woodland landscape. This was so inspiring. Thank you, Jack!
Another great job, Jack! Can’t wait to visit there someday!
Beautiful. The before and after pictures really show how much was done. Thank you.
Really appreciate that you considered how the landscape would blend with the neighboring yard - such a humble and clever solution!
Thanks~
Awesome ❤
💚So very beautiful and fascinating to watch it all come together, and how you plan it out. They are so very lucky to have you and your Team! Thank you and the homeowner for allowing us to visit a bit. 🌸🌼🌻🌱

One word "Fabulous!"
I am really looking forward to seeing the progress on this project.
I love the idea of wildflower meadow drifts to blend into wild edges of the property. I'm going to give it a try. Very inspiring.
Oh I hope you do an update on this property!! I love all the ground covers!! I need to find some!!

I enjoy how you start with a complimentary theme of plants. And your method-trees, shrubs, perennials, … Where can I buy the seeds for native wildflowers? e
That’s amazing!! Why does it look like everything has been there for years already?! It’s so beautiful!
After one year.... it certainly will~~~
Really delightful to see how a new project gets started! Looking forward to watching it as it goes.
Great job...please up date when it’s grown some. Enjoyed video
Please do more before and.after!
Thanks for the update. Seeing a landscape go from zero to awesome is a tremendous learning opportunity. Does anyone understand the logic of the placement of the ground covers -- myrtle, sweet woodruff, ajuga?
I would like to know your thoughts on going with the Whitespire Clump Birch instead of the Serviceberry. I love no lawn! All looks great!
Just beautiful. You have a good eye, Jack. Glad you're including sweet woodruff. What fun to start with a blank slate, eh? Have you thought about white mazus under birch trees? I did that and also white violets and other white wildflowers, and it was ethereal.
Very good suggestions~ I do love mazus
Can we talk about that boxwood hedge that looks like it's been growing for years already?! I want to do this but $$$. Must be using like 3 gallon boxwoods planted really close...? So awesome. I love this style of landscape.
What a pleasure to start with a blank canvas. Have a ton of questions on this one if you ever get a moment. I struggle with pockets of glacial till here in Montana, so when you want to plant in rocky soils, do you use an auger or just dig your heart out to amend the soil before planting? My biggest struggle as a gardener is planting shade loving plants in areas that get a lot of sun, and vice versa; planting sun loving in too much shade and hoping they will thrive. So I'm curious about the hydrangeas under the trees; will they get enough sun to bloom? I just planted row of little lime lights and by getting less than 3 hrs sun on the north side of home they are not getting the variegated colors as depicted. Oh my I could go on.... With 3 acres of lawn, I can so appreciate this home has NONE! Cheers as always and many thanks
Show it to us when you are done!
Looks great! What kind of hydrangea are you using?
This looks awesome! Could you share the source of the lights you're using along the paths?
Nice job! Question, will those birch not get that tall so near the house? Im going to be landscaping our nee property and am wondering how close trees should be to the home for shade but not too close for safety.
We give em a lil lean~~~
Just beautiful Jack! Do you have much of a deer problem on the island?
❤️👍
Really nice job 👍🏻
Just beautiful. Do you gave deer on the island? If yes, how do you keep them away from the plants?
Simply beautiful!!!
How long is the growing season on the island? I'm wondering if the wildflowers will have a chance to bloom and reseed for you? How long does that take? Also, what's the temperature running at up there? We're down to mid 90s here in the Texas Panhandle. Oh man! It's been so hot and we got rain out all around the Panhandle and New Mexico,/Colorado/Okla Panhandle and Kansas but we haven't seen but a sprinkle here at our house. Old saying says "somebody around here ain't been livin' right." 😂🤣😂
Be blessed, Jack! I pray you, your family and crew be blessed with everything you need and a dab of what you want!
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen!
Love the wildflower idea ! Where would be a source for wildflower blend for zone 4b? Looking for a blend that does not have much grasses in it as grass is too aggressive and see,ms to take over the flowers. And is this blend for sun or shade or both? Thank you for your help! 🌸💖🌸
American meadows is pretty good....
Jack Barnwell Design Thank you so much 👍
I think I’m going to “secretly” throw some wildflower seeds today 😃
We do it all the time:)
Jack Barnwell Design do you have to plant the wildflower seeds every year or do they come back? Also where can we buy them
I love the thought of ground covers vs mulch. I live in zone 8, what's your thoughts on creeping Jenny?
I love it~ just sparingly as an accent ground cover- since it kind of burns and thins sometimes~
Jack, it looks fabulous. A few questions. When you talk about myrtle do you mean vinca minor? Also, are your ground covers in plug form and how far apart do you plant them? I'm sure it depends on the variety and I would think that the weather on the island is conducive to faster growth than my western prairie garden.
Yes- vinca minor ~ we space about 4-6”
@@JackBarnwellDesign thank you!
How do you plant ground cover in mulch or wood bark? Do you add a little soil or just plop them in the mulch?
It is a fine shredded bark/compost blend and works well for mulch/groundcover establishment~~
Jack , I heard you say before the island does not allow machinery. How do you do the heavy duty work? 😅 bringing in boulders etc
They are hauled to site by horses~
Jack Barnwell Design wow! Hopefully they get plenty of apples as treats 🍎
Do you plant your groundcovers directly in the mulch and not the soil? Is your mulch fine ground bark?
Beautiful! Is the wildflower mix one you purchase, or do you mix your own? If you do buy it, what are some good sources?
American meadows~
@@JackBarnwellDesign Thank you! I'll check them out.
I wish to be there with you I like as you teach ing us
How do you prevent weeds and grass from growing with the wild flowers?
What is the mulch or wood bark you'll use?
What a difference. Update us a year from now. It should be beautiful.
What's your wildflower seed? Will it work in the Northeast?
Yes- this blend is from American meadows~
Low grow Midwest blend.....part shade
Where can a person buy those wildflowers?
Did you always know you were gonna be a landscape designer?
It looks like it's been there for along time all ready, not a new project and house. Another great job for the Island. The Island is lucky to have you and your crew. Can not wait for the next one. Stay Safe till the next time.
Don’t the deer eat your hosta’s?

It's annoying people put smart fone in front pants instead back or side due not look good nor easy to walk nor move around.
