I was a waitress at the Iroquois in 1963 and always respected your grandmother, Mrs. McIntyre and your granddad. Mr. Mac. What a wonderful summer of memories !
Jack, let your Grandma know how much we all appreciate the tour of her gardens. It would be great to hear her story of the home and gardens sometime on one of your tours.
I’ll ask her:)
Yes I too would love to hear more! Love love the gardens!!
Absolutely 💯
I love Mackinac Island! It’s a magical place with the landscaping throughout the Island really takes you to another place.
I’m waiting 🙏🙏
My condolences,. 🙏 Mrs. Mac was a true Island Gem💐✨️
Thank you so very much. We have walked by this lovely home many times and so admired it. Your knowledge and love of Grandma's home is special.
✨Glad I’m not the only one who talks to my plants 🪴✨.
Man I am LOVING Grandma's style....WOW!!
The most beautiful house on the island!!!!!
Hi, Jack. I worked as a maid at The Iroquois the summer of 1981, so I knew your grandma back in the day! Boy, did I carry a lot of baskets of linens from the basement laundry to the rooms above. Wish I was still in shape like that! I always admired Mrs. Mac’s savvy business sense. She, Mr. Mac & the staff created a magical escape for so many guests. And, it was a super fun summer for me, too! Thanks for the tour!
I love watching you caress the plants. Your grandmother must be so proud of you, Jack! It’s such a pleasure to see you at work and to enjoy your smile❤️🌺🥰
Mackinac Island is on my travel bucket list . Grandmas garden is a garden gate magazine cover ❤it is beautiful
I am absolutely shocked and amazed how many people here commented on the dead heading geraniums! I have always done it the way that Jack described. I took for granted that everyone knew how to dead head a geranium correctly! I’m pleased that so many know now! 🤗
Your grandparents have A beautiful house and garden
OMGOODNESS!!! this is one of my favorite houses on the island!!!!! What a nice surprise to find this video!!!
Oh my gosh Jack! Stunningly beautiful home! Your grandma is very lucky to have such a passionate person taking care of her landscape!
Your Grandma must really be proud of you. All the beautiful gardens that her grandson creates on the island. Your her prided and joy.
Jack, your grandmother is one cool woman!!!
Just last week I was on Mackinac Island and walked by your Grammas house Jack. I stopped at the gate to admire the garden and had to know what was growing on the beautiful arbor. I entered the court yard and rung the door bell and this beautiful, gracious lady came to the door and ansewered my question. Little did I know that I would be watching this on you tube when I got home. Thank You So Much For This. I am a gardener too so I really appreciate this. Judy
Wow Jack! Your Grandma’s house is simply stunning. Have you ever done a video on the history of her house? I would love to see more of her place. I’m loving the tours you are doing. Great job and great place. 💕☀️🪴🦋🐝

I had worked on the islans years ago. I loved walking by this house and seeing that gate
Very random as RUclips reconnected this out of the blue, but I’ve been to Mackinac once with my wife who is from Michigan. Your grandmother’s house was definitely my favorite of what I saw on the island and I took a bunch of photos of it
Beautiful garden! That gorgeous house is so close the the water! 😳 I’d love to see he inside of that amazing home, the glimmering windows leave so much to my imagination!
Fantastic tutorial for pruning and maintaing the crabapple espalier!
Oh, Jack , I just love how you seem to dance up and down the tree! Each of your movements in the garden are purposeful and flowing! I love the observation of the bee “drunk “on peonie!
I was expecting a little gramma cottage. WOW! What a great place to grow up and hang out with your grandparents!
A couple years ago we came to the island because of one of your tours. The flowers there are amazing. Gorgeous place.
Thanks!
Love how you said plants benefit from human interaction. Quantum physics proves that EVERYTHING is ENERGY, and when we focus our loving attention on something it THRIVES! ❤
Every living thing has a spirit! Talk to those plants! 😊
Stunning property and stunning Island! and those Peonies!!!🥰
Thank you for showing us so many gorgeous areas of Mackinac. Your Grandmother's house and gardens are stunning.
Your Grandma’s place is my favourite, absolutely stunning - the house, plants and landscaping provide such a serene setting ! Jack, I have followed a few of your suggestions with respect to your favourite ground-covers. I also learned today I’ve been pruning my geraniums incorrectly over all these years!Coincidently I bought myself a small Japanese maple this spring, so now I know how to coordinate it with other surrounding plants when I move it to the garden this fall ! Thank you and your Grandma for sharing with us all! 🌸💐🇨🇦
I'm so in awe of all your work! As a Christian, I truly appreciate nature and God's creation, and you have a gift for putting together such stunning gardens and landscaping features! Thank you!
Plant after Mothers day, in Michigan...🌼🌼🐝🌱❤🌻
Sparkling amethyst is so beautiful...purple...gorgeous! Your grandma has such a beautiful home! Thanks Jack, so beautiful! 🤗🤗
What a beautiful family home! Shows how important it is to plant unique specimens when you move into a home and train them through the years to become real statements in the landscape.
Thank you Grandma! 💚🌱🌿
Clicked so fast! Always LOVE Grandmas house! The first place I think of when I think of climbing hydrangeas!

Beautiful home! I love visiting Mackinac Island. It is a very special place that holds great memories for me and my family.
Yay! Grandma garden tour ❤️
Also, Thanks for the deadheading tip - I’ve been doing it wrong all these years.
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS TOUR SO MUCH JACK LOVE IT THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!!
Yes it’s true! Lots of studies have been done that plants know exactly what you’re thinking and your intentions. There’s books by Baxter about it and Vogel, and many others since the 1960s. Right now I’m listening to the audiobook “the secret life of plants“ by Christopher Bird and Peter Thompkins. It’s so cool, it has chapters like ‘plants and ESP’, and ‘plants can read your mind’.
I love the boarder garden all around, super cheerful, tidy, and calming ❤️
What a wonderful home with some awesome garden beds! Your grandmother is lucky to have you take care of her garden (you're lucky to have her as well!). Thanks for sharing :)
Wow just stunning. So glad I found you via Laura at Garden Answer and Jenny at Creekside. You are a true artist and such a passionate landscaper/gardener. You can tell you love what you do. Thanks for sharing your Grandmother’s amazing house. Would love to know more about it.
Grammy doing well!!
Omg! That weeping elm is gorgeous!!

I, too, get drunk on peonies. One of my favorites. 🐝
Best property on the island, was just there!
This is awesome, watching this from Africa.I love your Grandma s House ,it is classic design indeed and the garden georgeos and you are a great designer and presenter.I appreciate.Be blessed.
So pretty! Love the Island, I need to get up there soon! I have a picture of my daughter in front of that gate!
That entrance hiding the house was my favourite since your first tour at your Grandma's house. Thank you for an update. What a beautiful house ,garden and island. You,sure, are living in a paradise Jack. Thank you so much for all the house tours. Best ,from Cappadocia, Turkey.
Wow! Turkey!! ~ cheers!
@@JackBarnwellDesign Here the countryside is like a fairy tale. You and your family are very welcome to our homestead we are trying to build. You inspire me a lot about how our garden might look in the future. Thank you for all the beautiful work you show us. :)
What a wonderful dramatic entryway!!!
Hurrah! I have been like a child waiting for Christmas morning, looking forward to this video. It was enchanting and worth waiting for! Now, of course, you have wetted my appetite with the promise of more videos to come. I just can't wait.
My peonies were just as stunning as at your grandparents house. My favorite plants, I've got almost 20 different varieties in my yard.
Would Loooove to see that. Wow
Lovely house and garden. I bet you all have some great family get togethers there. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing the fall tour.
Your grandmas garden must bring her great joy.
Under the Elm is magical. Astilbe is just blooming here in Montana; we have to wait too. The elements have done their job on the cedar siding, it looks simply beautiful. Your grandfather was so right to just leave it.
I always wondered what you chose for the space near the beech tree. The most special thing is to transplant from your own garden and give, or to receive a new planting from someone else. So your grandma receives a gift from Emory and a gift from your own garden. Couldn't be more perfect. Thank you both for the much awaited tour.
Thx you for the geranium dead heading tip.
Fabulous home! Plantings are lovely! Would be interested in seeing the Mackinac Bridge history! Thanks for sharing! 💜
