- This darling Victorian needed some love! About 30 years ago, somebody poured a lot of concrete and asphalt around it and got rid of all of the original gardens and plantings. The new owners wanted to bring her back to life, tie it into the neighborhood, and also make it exceptionally unique. This video walks you through the early stages of preparing her for the transformation~ stay tuned for the next Episodes to see how it all turned out!!
Jack, as someone who absolutely loves landscape design, this inspires me so much. I enjoy seeing the "before" for these projects as much as the reveal. I love to hear the reasoning behind each decision and the problem-solving solutions to keep the project looking great for years to come. 💚
I love seeing your landscape renovations. Your designs are both imaginative and logical.
Thanks so much! That’s very kind….
It’s nice to see someone who cares enough to have forward thinking concerning the Sugar maples. Unfortunately, many landscapers would recommend removing those trees instead of working around them. There seems to be a war against large trees anymore with most homeowners. I also love the way you are making accommodations for access to the home’s foundation. I hate it when someone installs new landscaping and leaves dirt all over the foundation. It looks sloppy and not finished. Thanks Jack!
So excited to follow you through another stunning landscape project. Thank you for taking us along.
I watch your channel for these Victorian renovations. Thank you I do miss the Michigan island projects though
More of those coming soon- have to catch up on some filming!!
every time I think you can't out do yourself! AND YET YOU DO! BRAVO!!!
Really cool project. Love hearing the rationale behind the hardscaping and plant choice decisions.
Scribe around the roots. Wow, to the details. You never cease to amaze me.
So great that you highlight these marquee spots in northern Michigan.🙂🙂❤️💯
Great to see you Jack! This is going to be another gorgeous project, can't wait to see it unfold! Blessings 🤗
Love seeing a smaller space being renovated. Can't wait to see the walkway. I know it will be beautiful and create a nice flow around the property. Another fantastic project to follow.
Love all the details. Water management, grass driveway, rock house border and especially the tree love. You do some amazing work.
Just wait until you see it finished! We just got it all planted out and it’s amazing!!
Interesting on the tree roots! Wonderful the Funeral Home is willing to work "with you and neighbor", to make this work cohesively as well as the City with sidewalk! It pays to be You, Jack! 🙌 It will be outstanding, and I look forward to seeing how beautiful the completion will be in due time! 🥂 Cheers!
Indeed, the cooperation is incredible. I bet a lot was has to do with Jack’s magic! Very excited to see this garden renovation unfold.
@@mt2766you know it, as well I! 👍
You just made my weekend! Just love your videos and look so forward to them! Thank you for sharing!
Scribing the stone to fit around the roots. Thats pretty incredible
oh yay!!!! i've been catching this on your reels and was hoping it would make it's way in long form on youtube. the details for the walk are so fresh. the scribing of stone to fit within the roots is such a high touch feature. while i wish you posted more content, the projects you undertake are monumental. your clients receive landscape commissions that are nothing short of fine art. thanks jack!
Oh my Jack...you are truly an artist with rock & plants as your medium. As an artist myself I can visualize the beauty you will have painted so wonderfully!! I love your videos and look forward to seeing the completed vision! I would love to work with you!
Oh boy can’t wait to see the progress it sounds great, too bad they couldn’t put up a block wall on the funeral property for privacy I wouldn’t want to share my flower bed with theirs -my opinion.
Beautiful house-I believe it is a Foursquare house. Love your designs .
Beautiful 🤩
WOW............massive undertaking ! Nice you had sunshine. It has been gloomy and dreary in Algoma for a week or more and is getting depressing.
Jack, your designs are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing these episodes.
Love your work!
will look forward to watching for your new projects.
It’s going to be so beautiful Jack! Love the before tour! Can’t wait to see your magic transform this space!
Can't wait to see more. Love the ideal of integrating the yards and not putting a fence up.
I can't wait to see how it all turns out. Please keep us updated as the progress continues. Love your work!
Sounds awesome
So excited to see how you work!!
Watching from Delaware.
Beautiful plans! Can’t wait to see them come to life! 🏡💕
What an inspiring, creative, beautiful project! Thank you for sharing:)
Sounds like an exciting project. On a side note, is that really a Victorian house? Looks more like a 4 Square Craftsman to me. I'll be watching for more videos!
You're correct. it's not a "Victorian" house. It was built in 1907 for George Raff and designed by local architect Jens C. Petersen.
Love ya Jack!
Great Start ! Looking forward to following the progress!
It’s going to be Fun 🎈
exciting!
It all sounds lovely, but Jack, why renovate the driveway prior to construction in the back yard? It would seem it’d take a beating from the equipment that’d be used.
There is access to the back yard from the alley- so- nothing will have to go through the front for any of that~~~
Those maples are beautiful, but they kill the rest of my parent's garden. Not only the grass, even if we try to re-seed (which we spent thousands doing), but every couple of years the topical roots creep over about 20 feet to choke all the plants and shrubs along the house wall. Literally killing the rest of the garden. How do you stop that from happening, without trenching? Unfortunately we can't get rid of the trees because they are planted on the city side of the neighborhood brick wall. Ugh.
