Why can't more music like this be offered at nondenominational churches instead of the more contemporary music you here. I love the depth of the lyrics, lyrics that makes you discover you got something in your eye on the way into the sanctuary.
Glory! Hallelujah!! This hymn was composed by the Saviour Himself and sent down to us through His holy servant Frances R. Havergal. May her great soul rejoice in Heaven.
He gave His for us, He died that we might live. Jesus accepted to be hated so that we can be loved. He received our stripes upon His Body, so we might be healed and made whole. Why won't you choose Jesus today, it is only in Him we can have victory?
I don't remember hearing this hymn, but it make one ask ones self, He gave all for such as I . All I can do is surrender to His will and be willing to trust and obey( There is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey)
I woke up this morning with this song in my head. I haven't heard it in years. I was pleased to find it. Thank you for posting. The doctrine of self denial is foreign to American Christianity today. It doesn't fill the Pop Mega churches.
I've heard this hymn for a long time but only today realized it is a kind of heresy. Jesus would never speak like this and there's no Bible passage where He even insinuates this kind of transactional question or demand. I did this so what have you done... While I understand the undertone that His Life was a great sacrifice for us, this song would send a wrong message to new believers who do not have Biblical foundations to weigh the undertone of this song's gist.
@@trailrvs Is that the same as saying: "I did this for you, what did you do for me?" The verse you quote says something quite different. If you're calling me Lord but don't behave like I am your Lord, am I truly the Lord of your life? These are very different things. One sounds transactional: I gave you this, you have to give me that vs I did this for you for your transformation, a new life. How is this new life being manifested and bearing fruit that lasts?
What a wonderful hymn. It just blesses my soul. So deep!
Thank you Jesus for shedding Your precious blood for me 😭💔🙏🏻
This is quite possibly my favorite hymn of the suffering our Lord and Savior Jesus endured to save a wretched sinner such as I.
I love The Lord.
