Mine eventually did crap out on me after about 3 years but Milwaukee replaced it under warranty no questions asked. Warranty is 5 years and if you purchase it on a credit card that offers extended warranties it’ll add +1 additional year of coverage. I think that makes the price very much worth it. Just make sure that you keep your receipt to make the warranty process a bit easier.

Absolutely agree on this. Eye protection any time you do cutting or grinding or cutting. Heck I wear eye protection even when hitting things with a hammer.
The milwaukee rotary tool is best imo. From what I found it has the fastest rpm rating. Also I've never tightened the collar with the wrench or an adjustable wrench. I just tighten it with my hands and found that no bits have never fallen out.

This is a good question. I work in manufacturing and have used both the Rotary Tool and an angle grinder. The rotary tool is much better for cutting and grinding in much smaller places. The rotary tool also has rotary tool accessories that can be used for woodwork. An angle grinder is much larger and primarily suited for metal work, especially when it involves larger pieces of metal. I wouldn’t dare to use a rotary tool for cutting or machining larger beams of stainless steel but I also wouldn’t use an angle grinder for cutting seized bolts inside of a cramped small engine appliance like a snowblower or the inside of a car engine bay. So really they are just two different tools for different jobs.
You talk about it not being tooless. But 1 of the first things I ended up buying was a shank or collet that you don't need a wrench for and it works beautifully.

Excellent review - you hit all the points which I experienced as well. One thing I would add, the addition of an LED light would be welcome - I find this is often used in cramped spaces. I still will keep my old Dremel 395 corded, but this is a cool new edition to my arsenal. :)
Well done review. About the material and oil stains. The alternative is something hard that is not comfortable or something non porous or slick, which is a nightmare, especially when greasy or oily. Buy the blue shop towels at walmart and wide our tools down when done. I still have ro wipe off my chrome snap tools after each job or my toolbox would be a grease bucket.
A man who cleans and takes care of his tools! A man of culture, clearly. And you're right about the trade-off for comfort. A lot of the overbuilt tools of the 1980s and earlier had that problem- tough as tanks, but ergonomic nightmares. I'd say it's better to have a comfortable tool that requires a bit of cleaning. What do you think?
@@JeremyY we really didn't have the great compounds in the 80s that we do now. the options were pretty much rubber dip type cover and then vinyl. People now das don't know how good we got it. Getting better every day.
Heh amazing. Those cheek pokers are the absolute worst. I even emailed Dremel to give them grief about the safety hazards that these attachments present and Dremel never replied. Not even a boilerplate auto-response.
Die grinders are designed for one job- to grind. And they do that one job really well. Meanwhile a rotary tool has more versatility since it’s variety of bit attachments can be used for all sorts of activities- precision cutting, woodcarving, and even sanding in cramped spaces. You can use the Rotary for LIGHT grinding only. No way that I would ever use the Rotary tool on thick hardened steel.
I see a lot of guys over tightening these collets. I'll tell you they don't last long at first if you over tighten then. Best to go easy. The only problem they have on them. Just get extras...
2:45 - If you get a cordless die grinder for the runtime you will be very sad after. The M12 is amazing but I have emptied a 6aH battery in 10 minutes before.
@@JeremyY Really depends on use case, if youre gonna strip an entire car of paint then pneumatic all the way. If you want one to touch up something, cut something or deburr something quick, i love my M12 for that
Not a fan of mine. It's the noiziest thing ever. Terrifies me to use it every time. Works fine but the bearings are rocks and it's louder than my 1/2 air impact.
Yeah. It’s loud. But all rotary tools from every brand share this problem. If Milwaukee comes out with a new generation that’s quieter I will definitely report on it.

Old fart here. Use hearing protection with all power tools. There are three jaw chucks readily available and cheap if you are bitter and twisted about the bit locking mechanism. Good video btw.
I got mine today and on speed 1 it doesn't spin. It spins on 2 and up. Also, the battery light goes away after like 5 seconds after turning on. Is this correct?
Yep this is correct. Mine behaves the exact same way and as far as I can tell that's totally normal. Also worth noting that mine does not turn into a lightsaber. Which is... disappointing. C'est la vie.

Dremel🙄 always have had short lived dremels but bought a $199 kit with metal box and a bunch of accessories, get it home and the switch is dead, doesn't turn on at all. So I'm skeptical but considering the Milwaukee
That's a drag. Mine lasted me almost 5 years- it just died 3 months ago. And I beat the hell out of mine so I'm very satisfied with the service it gave me. Got it replaced under warranty- I'd suggest putting in a warranty claim for yours if you still have the burnt-out tool.
I’m not sure what the base ingredient is. I’m in Canada but I’m assuming you sell them in the US as well. I’m an electrician here and pretty hard on my Milwaukee power tools and about every other week I use these and they look like new (minus the scratches and dings.) I’ve used everything from strong degreasers to Magic Erasers and these are legit.

I usually just hand tighten them too because I'm too lazy to go look for a wrench. Most of the time it's enough.
