I recently started a contract involving plumbing roughly 80 new apartments being installed in an old high rise building. For every drain and vent that I have to core drill between floors (8-10 inches of concrete), I also have to cut out that section of steel tracking and this little tool has become my new best friend for that. At first we were stuck using tin snips and a multi tool to make the first cut (what an ungodly sound that is), and then scoring the other side with a razor and just bending it til it broke free. A decently lengthy and noisy process. Now I can just mark my lines around the hole and zip right through with this little grinder. Love the channel Vince!

Vince, while making a living as a dealership technician the air powered version of the 3" cut off tool was invaluable. It was used for exhaust clamps, hangers, shortening fasteners and body sheet metal fabrication. I think Milwaukee has a home run here. As KotC said small, tight spots, more control, depth control, fence - where I need more precision than I get with a grinder.
People hate on this tool so UNFAIRLY! This is a GREAT TOOL! I have used this tool from demo to finish work and on everything from laminate flooring, metal, metal pipe, TILE, drywall, pvc, cement, cement board, vinyl siding & trim, countertops, copper, gutters to wood! .... and YES, I HAVE cut brick, cinder blocks and landscape pavers with THIS! It's great for notching or the like. Yes a grinder is faster and more capable but it's also a lot more to handle and not as precise if you need something fairly intricate cut. It's a great option to have on the trailer and has bailed me out many times on oddball cuts and nagging having the "proper" tool on site. It rides permanently in my truck box so it's always with me and there only a few tools that get that honor. I think people that talk trash on this tool are just showing their honest ignorance as soon as they open their mouth about it. Don't believe them! I'd buy this again in a HEARTBEAT!
For pvc and cpvc in tight areas I use almost exclusively the M12 hackzall with the shorter 4" blade. Works perfect for getting up into cabinets and other tight spaces.
Why would you run this with a 2.0 when there are bigger packs? I just realized when they were cutting brick that they had the small pack in. Did they mention that they were doing a test with only the 2? That motor size looks like it would like a 6.0.
That is actually what I need this for. I do HVAC and there are places in this trade that you cannot get a grinder. Such as, repairing a motor bracket inside the air handler. Or cutting off a rusted bolt back in the air cabinet.
As a landlord I do lots of handyman type work and some remodeling. The M12 fits the bill for me without the weight and expense of the larger tool line.
Use this tool often. Gfci outlets on tile backsplash knock off some length on the decora cover trim screws when they hot the tile. Setting a new toilet cut your bolts down fast. All thread, knife building....great handy tool. Only dislike is not always comfortable for everything being a lefty. Milwaukee is awesome when you look at how many cordless circular saws they offer with left or right blade view options. Wish there was a LH version of this. Otherwise love it.
10:55 now I’m impressed! Had no love for the tool until this! You don’t condone running it backwards but after seeing this it would be the ONLY way I run it!
I just recently bought this tool. I've used it to cut tile in a parking lot of an apartment building where I had no access. I've used it to cut downspouts nice and clean. I love this little cut off wheel!
Yeah, i fully agree with you. If you own a decent/good angle grinder (i have the 60volt flexvolt, and a corded paddle switch Dewalt) adding this tool is super helpful, the reverse direction ability and the sheer small size and low weight to this tool make it great for any time you encounter a tight situation where access is the main concern. I wish it had a belt hook like the rivet gun, for zipping off nails or cutting a screw or bolt in a tight spot where a hacksaw blade is your best option. If you are able to fit this tool where you need to be to make the cut (i took my guard off completely to make it as small as possible) then i cant imagine wanting to cut it by hand over this. If this didn't fit i would try my 12volt bosch dremel tool (GRO actual name they gave it) with a 1.25" cutoff wheel (dremel brand ez loc quick release) if not that then a 12volt reciprocating saw (i own the bosch 12v) if i bought the m12 i would definitely get the FUEL version. Having all the big 18v/20v + 60v tools are fantastic for all cutting applications. Unless there is some reason why it won't fit into the spot you need access to. Thus opening the door for so many awesome m12, makita 12v CXT, and bosch 12v tools. (Dewalt only recently started making good 12volt tools). My favorite tools from Milwaukee are the 12 volt tools, they have the most diverse lineup of 12 volt tools, i.e. m12 rocket, grinder, rivet gun, bandsaw, temp gun, FUEL installation drill/driver, but they still dont have some of the cool 12volt Bosch and makita tools. Namely bosch 12v router & planer, GRO (i think is better then the m12 version), makita 12v green cross line laser, carpet cutter, radio
I glued 60grit paper to the side of the tile cutting disc and use this thing to cope crown moulding instead of a large grinder with a flap disc. FWD & REV is pretty sweet.
I have this and used it for a large project 2 weeks ago. We didn’t have power on the site we used it to cut sonotubes, plywood and 3/8’s inch bolts. My guys didn’t think it would help but ended up using it the whole time. PS use the 6AH batteries it burns through smaller batteries fast.
it actually works great for cutting rigid Pipe / inner duct in electrical / communications vaults where the space is at a premium. I was using a m12 Hakzall and it was a challenge to get into the vault and cut the duct without hitting the other ducts or bending the shit out of the blade.
I have been using a pneumatic version of this for years. Been slow to pick it up because my M12 band saw have done the job. I just need to bite the bullet and get it. I can bet it will do great with my 4 and 6 amp hour batteries
I work in an industrial maintenance. Sometimes you need to make quick cuts on bolts, sheet metal or whatever. Had an air cutoff in my box. This allows me to cut the hose. No need to look for am air drop or hose reel. It likes batteries but it keeps up with the airtool provided it isn't prolonged use

I know know this is an old video, but this tool is very powerful for it's size it cuts through anything I throw at it the only limiting factor is the blade depth.
Perfect tool for guys who cut tiles, you could cut out an area of existing floor tiles and install a decorative tile piece. Or even adding decorative pieces to back splashes while keeping the dust to a minimum with the vac attachment. Plus it looks alot safer than full sized grinder wheel that let's face it, is many times overkill for applications that people use them for on job sites. Now I want one just because I like likes to cut shits 🙂 They need to figure out a quick detach for the disks though 🤙🏻
Laminate Flooring. This tool, much like the Makita 3-1/8" Mini Circular is a GREAT tool for a guy like me. I do a TON of engineered hardwood/laminate flooring. Thinner planks. And the great benefit is the ability to stay close to the work area. Theres no need to get up and walk out to the chop saw etc. Whatever cutting tool you may be needing. It is much quicker and more time efficient. Just having a smaller tool like this for thinner applications is a huge plus. What I like more about the 3" Milwaukee cut off is the size in comparison to the Makita 3 -1/8" mini circular. The Makita handle is much larger and with the battery adds even more length. This is a tool I have been eyeing for a long time but I'm on a totally different platform. So is it worth buying the tool, plus batteries and charger, for 1 tool...
I've had it for 6 months I absolutely love it The only two problems I have are the only place I've been able to source The blades are online, Milwaukee online, or Grainger. And when you're in a working environment goes options are not helpful.I have questioned every Milwaukee rep I've bumped into at Home depots and ask why Home Depot does not sell the three different blade types and then Milwaukee reps have no answers.
You can get the Husky abrasive blades in 5pk next to the pneumatic cut off tool, they fit. As far as the other ones, I haven’t figured out what to do other than order online. THD determines what is sold in stores, not the reps. They won’t have that answer, ask a store manager instead.
I’ve had it for about a year, you don’t realize how handy it is until you have one. Sheet metal pvc rubber ive notched wood in a pinch. Bolts in a tight spot rusted. I was like you vince before I bought it what can it do that my grinder can’t however this tool proved that thinking wrong. At your own risk, lol I have used it too cut wire bc my cutters were not close.
Agree, I bought one on impulse and had some regrets, but sure enough, the next day I used it for several jobs (Cutting steel channel that had been placed where bathroom heat lamps were supposed to go, cutting out tiles for power points etc) and I've used it nearly every day since. I love it!
I own one of these and don't use it every day, but I will tell you what I love most about it. When I don't plan on needing a grinder ( and don't have my full sized grinder) this is so small that I just so happen to have it with me and am able to get out of the jam I need a grinder for. It's very handy in those situations.
Fantastic for people who constantly have to cut to precise depth because they don't want to hit things. I use it on lanscape audio systems to cut the PVC low after wire's been ran and the pipe is too all. Also great for precise drywall cuts and hook up a vaccum to minimize dust. Great
We have soffcut early entry saws for cutting concrete and they run in reverse like you demonstrated the second time. Along with the bottom shoe, it helps to keep the cut from chipping or spalling. We can cut concrete one hour after finishing. So that’s an acceptable way to use this tool, in reverse. As a matter of fact, I wish my grinders had a forward and reverse. Thanks for the video gang!

Handy little machine!Could be a real neat go to instrument for those little cuts.A little saw that can!A good alternate to a grinder or even a Dremel tool.
This tool i use in my AC shop for cutting off condensor motor shafts that are too long and will extend over the ACs top without hurting the Bearings that a sawzall could
I have pneumatic band file ( small hand held belt sander), and was wanting to get a cordless one that could use my M12 batteries. Sadly milwaukee does make this toolchest. So I got one of these, and then when on eBay and purchased a little conversing kit that uses the arm off of my pneumatic band file, and now I have a 2 in 1 cordless hand held cut off tool / band file. I've also found that you can still cut larger pavers by using this tool to scor the brick then tap it with a hammer to get a decent break.
Last comment: I know Brian’s an OG over here so this is old news to most people but he’s clearly a solid dude. I love how there’s never fake people on your videos. I mean maybe some brand reps but that goes with the territory 😂. Always nice to see someone disprove the nice guys finish last theory. Kill it KOTC.
Great video, I put a lot of faith in your videos. You really put them through real life testing not like the company demos. You try to break them 😂. I think for the price, convenience, and versatile it would be worth the purchase. Thanks.
Great tool for certain applications, would be great for HVAC duct work, not so much for PVC, Milwaukee makes a PVC shear tool which works great for PVC up to 2".
I have this at work....I gotta say....I see the potential but maybe mine needs another blade cuz it bucks back at ya a lot...my go to is the hackzall but I’m also cutting up drop material off the cnc for trash purposes ie acrylic, aluminum, pvc, acm up to 1/2” thick. I’d def use it more if I can find its sweet spot 🇺🇸
Definitely a good tool for tin / aluminum or hardware cloth / stainless steel mesh. I do alot of wildlife repair with wire mesh and this would be alot nice for larger or angled cuts. Snips are a pain in the ass for stuff like that
Brian, glad you mentioned reversing blade for dust, as that was what I do & was gonna say here 🤣. Really does work well for plumbing, hvac, & electrical work, when can’t get a grinder in those awkward small spaces. Great job Vince & Brian. Cheers👍🏻
I got this thinking I could use it like a trim saw...then found out I couldn't find any toothed saw blades. Then I needed to cut off a piece of a duct, then a corner of a tile, then .... Handy little tool. Still looking for Milwaukee or Ryobi to come out with a good cordless trim saw like the DeWalt Atomic circular saw. I would get the DeWalt, but trying not to get into another battery system.
general contractors who do a lot of demo work are in a completely different world then those of us who are in specialized trades like electrical plumbing hvac. this tool is meant for small precise work like cutting metal screens duct work trim work pipe cutting conduit cutting dry wall cutting. its small and light...if you want to use big 2 handed angle grinders to make small precise cuts by all means go ahead but smart people work smart...
I picked up an attachment for my drill that is like a little wiz wheel and blade. I put it my flexible dewalt right angle attachments for tight areas. Total cost was around 15 bucks for attachment and blades.
We cut out commercial steel door frames for electronic locks. Typically we use a Dremel saw max and then a Dremel rotary tool for the more precise parts. How do you feel that this would perform on the cuts where we are using a Saw Max now?

When I don't plan on needing a grinder ( and don't have my full sized grinder) this is so small that I just so happen to have it with me and am able to get out of the jam I need a grinder for. It's very handy in those situations.
So we can use either type of battery with it? Either the square ones or the barrel type? Cuz I only have the latter ones….
i love when my brotha Vince says "i tells ya this" lol VCG Construction is now the OG of tube tool reviews thank u
Actually the og are AvE and Project Farm before Tony meatballs over here
Does cut quickly! Great video guys 😊
I just picked this tool up to trim some 28 gauge steel, and it was absolutely worth it!
Excellent for cutting outlets in smooth stucco. Cutting rack rails, and trimming bolts. For some reason I do run into that semi regularly
Yo fellas! Happy Saturday! Just bought that cut off tool last week. I like it so far.
What up famous Amos!?!?
Fantastic for people who constantly have to cut to precise depth because they don't want to hit things. I use it on lanscape audio systems to cut the PVC low after wire's been ran and the pipe is too all. Also great for precise drywall cuts and hook up a vaccum to minimize dust. Great
Also it's absolutely wonderful for cutting tile dry
We have soffcut early entry saws for cutting concrete and they run in reverse like you demonstrated the second time. Along with the bottom shoe, it helps to keep the cut from chipping or spalling. We can cut concrete one hour after finishing. So that’s an acceptable way to use this tool, in reverse. As a matter of fact, I wish my grinders had a forward and reverse. Thanks for the video gang!
Thanks Cuz!
Yes, it is just like a circular saw, you gotta run it in reverse and it is even safer, as it wont pull you into the cut.
Seems perfect for automotive and light duty fabrication
080821/2338h PST Very unique way of demonstrating a tool ! I bought Milwaukee Cutoff tool and will start a few DIY jobs. I also bought a Pneumatic band saw attachment, that with an adapter will make the cutoff tool to perform as band saw. Thanks guys. Take care and be safe. 73s…
I use it a lot to cut out for recessed boxes in brick, block and stone for outdoor receptacles.
I bought one last month. It works great
Good morning guys! Have a great day and keep those great videos coming! 🌞🧰⚙️🔩🛠🧰
❤️
Handy little machine!Could be a real neat go to instrument for those little cuts.A little saw that can!A good alternate to a grinder or even a Dremel tool.
I bought this tool use it way more then I actually thought I would really nice tool
I'm a Milwright I would like to try it for installations and refits of equipment. I think it would be useful. Sometimes a grinder is just too big.
I love my Milwaukee cut off tool I have two the other one is a mini belt sander😍🥰 which I also showed on your channel❤️👍🏻
"Clamp it down?? WTF. Use your man hands!"...
Proceeds to clamp it down. LOL
This tool i use in my AC shop for cutting off condensor motor shafts that are too long and will extend over the ACs top without hurting the Bearings that a sawzall could
Awesome demo Vince and Brian. I gotta get me one of those!
I haven't seen Nick in a while. I love that guy!
Excellent for punch list. Can easily cut grout to replace a couple tiles.
Short guy very aggressive, tall guy a gentle giant !
I just got one! I haven’t use it but I’m pretty sure I will love it!
Thanks Fee we appreciate it!
I brow this at work constantly to cut keys for key ways for drive shafts
Great tool. Wood, drywall, angle iron, stainless steel. This tool is a hause.
i love it, at first i didnt think id use it much but it gets into tight areas. not super powerful but gets it done
Definitely a good tool for tin / aluminum or hardware cloth / stainless steel mesh. I do alot of wildlife repair with wire mesh and this would be alot nice for larger or angled cuts. Snips are a pain in the ass for stuff like that
Mine arrived today 👍👍👍👍👍
You got me at "birthplace of freedom".
Got one of these and I love it very handy
Love mine use it for so many things you realise how quick you can just cut through little things where a multitool isnt suitable.
Brian, glad you mentioned reversing blade for dust, as that was what I do & was gonna say here 🤣. Really does work well for plumbing, hvac, & electrical work, when can’t get a grinder in those awkward small spaces. Great job Vince & Brian.
Cheers👍🏻
thanks aepek ! you are the man 👍
This is $109 with 2.0 battery at Hime Depot today special deal along with other Milwaukee. Just a heads up🤙🏼
Thanks Artie!!
Aluminum finish cuts and slower speed tile cuts for less chips. Winner in my book.
Perfect for trimming toilet bolts 👍
I got this thinking I could use it like a trim saw...then found out I couldn't find any toothed saw blades. Then I needed to cut off a piece of a duct, then a corner of a tile, then .... Handy little tool. Still looking for Milwaukee or Ryobi to come out with a good cordless trim saw like the DeWalt Atomic circular saw. I would get the DeWalt, but trying not to get into another battery system.
I have one and I used mine to cut aluminum thresholds, flashing, and 1 inch angle iron.
Great for cutting into junction boxes and control cabinets. Combine with the rack a tiers magnetic dust bag for the inside. Disco.
As always guys... Great honest review 👍 But the dust collection seams not working quit well 😂💨 Don't forget to reverse rotation 🌪👍
general contractors who do a lot of demo work are in a completely different world then those of us who are in specialized trades like electrical plumbing hvac. this tool is meant for small precise work like cutting metal screens duct work trim work pipe cutting conduit cutting dry wall cutting. its small and light...if you want to use big 2 handed angle grinders to make small precise cuts by all means go ahead but smart people work smart...
I picked up an attachment for my drill that is like a little wiz wheel and blade. I put it my flexible dewalt right angle attachments for tight areas.
Total cost was around 15 bucks for attachment and blades.
I’m an electrician, and I need to cut cover plates a lot and I think this would be more handy than holding my grinder
i do plumbing an i love this tool!
I'm back and forth on picking one up- where dy find it helpful/essential? Convince me..
Great video Vince , I love my cutoff tool I reach for it alot then again all my m12 is used more often the M18 stuff 👍✌️🍻
That’s good Feedback Robert, thanks!
Do I want this to cut toe kicks (aluminum or wood) for kitchens? I either use my miter saw or circular saw, but this is obviously smaller
You're supposed to run it with blade rotation up. Look a the discharge! It's literally how it works.
We cut out commercial steel door frames for electronic locks. Typically we use a Dremel saw max and then a Dremel rotary tool for the more precise parts. How do you feel that this would perform on the cuts where we are using a Saw Max now?
The tool works better with a 6 amp battery. Gives it a little more power
