SUGGESTION: I am a cabinetmaker, & a very simple addition to your kitchen would be to add a pull out cutting board above the drawer & install a tip out sink front panel for scrubbies, soap or towels.
To make the slide out cutting board raise your butcher block top 3/4 inch & install slides made from two aluminum or steel "tracks" (maybe even use scrap steel bent "Z" or "H" shape." That will double the utility of a compact kitchen. You also could notch out the top rail above the drawer, cut 3/4 inch off drawer front & add that piece to the front of the cutting board & put a dowel peg knob for pullout. The cutting board could be made of 3/4 inch birch or maple plywood seasoned with mineral oil or Tung oil. This could be standard or as an add on option that could easily be included during the assembly line. Most people would be happy to pay an extra $100 if you couldn't just include it in the base price.
I am in love with your innovative housing option. I am hoping to find a way to get one. Low fixed income is very limited. Of course, if there's a will, there's a way. Just need to figure how.

I understand what you’re saying but a 5th wheel will last 1/5th of the life of this if not less, you also will be fixing things constantly because 5th wheels aren’t meant to be lived in full time and are made very cheaply. The construction of this home may have inexpensive materials but it is not cheaply made in terms of quality, it will not need constant repairs like a camper would. Another issue with 5th wheels compared to this is the moisture issue, they get moldy from the moisture if you try to use them for year round living, heating in winter creates so much condensation where as these are built like a home and don’t have that issue. Also these are extremely insulated, a camper has cardboard thin walls with no insulation, you have no privacy and no energy efficiency. You don’t have to worry about pipes/lines freezing in this, you certainly do in a camper. Also anything you’d need to replace in this you can easily find at a Lowes or Home Depot, campers however have more expensive, lower quality replacements you have to special order. If you want to modify anything in a camper such as adding on, well you can’t but you can with the house. Having considered both myself and being a camper owner I just wanted to point out some of the things that sometimes aren’t thought about. Is this as nice looking as a nice 5th wheel? No, but you’re getting something that is built like a house, is sturdy, efficient, long lasting, can be easily modified, easy to replace mechanicals, can go through all seasons and offers privacy. To me that’s what makes this appealing, I personally would need another 10 feet added on to this for a bedroom, a lot of peel and stick wallpaper, a washer/dryer and I would definitely be able to live in it full time.

I keep saying that I wish that tiny houses were allowed in more places! They have another inexpensive larger version that's longer so you can have more of a separate bedroom and living room area that I think you can still tow like an RV because of its width. I personally love the larger one that they're offering that is like a one bedroom apartment with a completely separate bedroom area. All that you need is to add a curtain or some bifold doors to separate it. The last one would be perfect for my 21 year old or myself when all three of my boys are grown. Now I just need Massachusetts to let us have these! Amanda is so right! The rent is crazy up here! The minimum wage is more than double what it is in Tennessee (as far as I've heard), but everything is crazy expensive here. These smaller houses are so needed with all of the environmental issues that we're facing. We're going to need to fit into smaller spaces and use less resources. Our government needs to get with it! If only Randy had a park here! People would easily pay higher rent because it would still be less than a regular apartment.

Some ideas: As shown in a previous video, put a closet in where the water heater is and put the water heater on top of the closet; now you have a place to hang your clothes. Instead of the "overhang" on the kitchen counter, leave it opened for a small apartment refrigerator/freezer. A box type drawer could be built to put under the refrigerator for more storage, which also rises up the refrigerator for easier access to the contents. In place of the couch, a box bed with drawers could be put there for additional storage. Big pillows could be placed on the bed on the "wall" side of the bed to be used during the day as a couch. My dad built box beds with drawers for us when we were kids and they provided lots of valuable storage space. A small shallow cupboard could be placed along side of the toilet for extra storage, as well as a cupboard up above the toilet..... I'm sure there are many other ideas for those with creative minds!!! Beautiful unit Randy! You an Amanda are quite the team with these great little homes! I have over 1 1/2 acres here but I’m thinking about the housing codes if we can have them on our property.. I’m thinking about one for family visiting and they would enjoy the privacy more so then inside my home … but they look so nice it may be hard to send company back home lol … but anyhow I’m seriously considering buying one so I’ll check our codes and see .. thank you for your videos.. Hi from England 🇬🇧, Randy and Amanda! I am moving to the US next year… I have watched probably 100 or more of your videos so far. Highly impressed by what Randy achieved at Brothers’ Cove.. I lost a lot in 2007-2008 too.. had to close a business down around that time.. can totally relate. But like you, started again almost from scratch, but everything leaner, smarter, quicker and in higher volumes.. experience from the past = more valuable than any MBA degree! You could build a deck between the two and have an outdoor living space too. A bedroom and bathroom in one, and the living room and kitchen in the other. That way you could have a full size kitchen with appliances. Do you have lots that are big enough for that?

    • @OuiouiMHC
      @OuiouiMHC Год назад +7

Actually thats a great idea. Offsetting the 2 together so can have a large private Bedroom with access to the Bathroom. Use a Sliding barn door, and only have a Den and Bedroom in the 2nd. That would allow a laundry room and storage, extend the bath room to add a soaking tub, move the kitchen down, so the 1st incredi box is only- Bath, Laundry, Kitchen. The 2nd IncrediBox is Bedroom, Closet, Den. Set 10 feet down leaves an area for a nice screened in porch. That makes it a Cottage.
Is there room for 2 built this way, delivered and attached? A cottage with space to live would be extremely suitable for a Couple on the Lake, or in most Counties. The City limits is where people run into zoning laws. Just an idea.
Im looking at a 30x30 Steel Cottage on a slab. I can have any color I like with metal roof. The roof peak allows for a 15 x 15 loft, that a person can stand in.
The downstairs is 2 Bed, 2 Bath, Galley Kitchen, laundry room. Upstairs with staircase, loft-shelves to 1 side for all my storage Christmas Tree, etc with sliding barn doors. A 3rd Bedroom and a Bath with Shower stall.
Its a bit over 1000 sq ft, less than $4k. Warranty 175 years.
With the 2 incredibox design, make the changes-have a peak roof, so you have 2 Beds and storage-the price wouldn’t be much different.
Randy-Amanda, before I commit on the Steel house, can the 2 incredibox houses be done?

We don't need a big spot, something w/ out alot of trees, bushes, surrounding it. I am tired of working & giving all my money to maintain the land scaping of my house. I so want to live simple and free.
Praying u will open up some of the alotted areas that are along yur fence line, for just a line of Small I-Box homes...just like u have the Grab-n-Go's situated 🙏🏼😃😃
I think there are alot of people like myself who could care less about having a "yard /space" and care more about having a place to park/place our "Tiny Homes"
Amanda, love, love, love the color choice on the decorated I-box. Please list it again, I keep trying to find the video where u said the colors. 💕💕 all your enthusiasm and ideas! Keep it going, Blessing to all the ITH team.

At first glance it sounds like a good deal but if you run the numbers it comes in at $156.25 per sq ft (8x16 = 128 sq ft $20,000/128 = $156.25) That seems high especially without heat, air, or appliances included. Am I missing something?
I do see the benefit in providing something at this price considering the housing/homeless crisis in not only our country but around the world. It just seems like more amenities could be included at this price.
Granted, I'm not a builder however, based on my research, a brick home can be built on your land at less than $150.00 per sq ft. Just under $134.00 per sq ft as advertised. And you mentioned over $150.00 per sq ft quoted by a builder friend of yours for a residental home.
Because my granddaughter is interested in a tiny home I've been researching but I still have so many questions.

I RV full time. This would make a great base camp building when not in the RV. I love the 36" shower.

@@danielgaytan3167. Better than being on the street. For many that’s all they can afford. If I had a few acres with utilities, I would get one. But sadly many cities, towns and counties have restrictions on what type of housing you can put there.

Love em. I think having a closet and putting smaller fridge under countertop and with the coffee table Amanda got works perfectly for work and food.
