Gus was Breaking Bad's Kingpin, he's experienced, maintains a public facade and knows how to keep his criminal operations secret and running long term without getting caught.
Man, this character 'Gus' still baffles in so many ways and the way Mr. Giancarlo has played the character it's hard to believe that the person sitting here having a funny chat is not a drug lord, a ruthless drug lord. Hats off to him!!
Who would've thought that he was gonna be the main antagonist of a video game. He can play the role of a sinister villain so well and I admire him for it.
Such a great actor! My husband and I just watched this Breaking Bad series during the pandemic--we are so impressed with this character! (I know, I know, everyone has seen it along ago--so new to us and we loved this actor!)
+Artem T-rex arms Lobov It's been a while, but that's not true to my recollection. Gus told Walt if he had come to him, he would have dealt with them, but instead Jessie went off to kill them himself. Walt had to step in and kill them first to protect Jessie.
+Artem T-rex arms Lobov Right, I remember now, but that's a little different from saying he has no problem using kids. Still, I'll bet if I watched it again (which I might do sometime soon, I really loved that show), I'd probably agree with your assessment. Gus was a professional, but he did all manner of shady things. Whatever morals he held were confusing without a lot of context.
Twice the interviewer interrupted Giancarlo, twice Gian got frustrated. Then he spoke about how Gus changed him and the importance of pauses.... Then the interviewer interrupted for a third, and scary last time.... Show, dont tell...
check him out in nothing to lose with martin lawrence hes truly a great actor he was funny as hell in that movie I had no idea it was the same guy until I looked it up that movie came out in the early 90s he looks and sounds so different as gus fring in BB lol
Gorgeous, GORGEOUS smile with such an endearing laugh. I have never seen Gus smile, much less belly laugh like that. I am entranced! SwwWoOOoonNN! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Giancarlo was incredible in breaking but alot of people know him as buggin' out from spike Lee's - do the right thing. That's where and when Giancarlo jumped out and grabbed America as a character method actor. He was no joke in that. He should have been in way more prominent roles. The good thing for many breaking fans is we will start to see him in alot more TV and movies now!
He was smart when he took Jesse and Mike to Mexico to kill the Cartel. But then it was too bad when he got bombed with Hector Salamanca. That crap freaked me out!!! 🙈😱
wow I am not used to Gus speaking so much
Grandmasterstick69 the caffeine
Or laughing
Or in such a high register
Me either
Actions speak louder than words
Hes acting himself and im still afraid of him
Hes not acting himself it’s just him
Still feels like he's a drug lord after this interview
One of the greatest casts ever. So, so well chosen.
Giancarlo is spitting bars. I thought the vid was playing at 1.5x
OMG watching this at 1.5x he becomes Jesse Eisenberg.
hes on crystal meth
1:43 when he says “deliberate” you hear Gus come out immediately. Crazy how intense he can make that sound.
Just finished S4 of Breaking Bad. This guy was so phenomenal in it.
Yeah no kidding. I just finished the first episode of season 5. Idk why I waited 9 years to watch this show.
josemartin1727 I'll get started on that season in a bit. I want to watch Better Call Saul after I'm done with the series.
Nancy Sanchez I don't blame you
josemartin1727 same lol
Same here. Truly a great character to watch. I loved everything about Gus. I even walk into work with such great composure minus the meth business.
Gus Fring is doing an incredible job acting as Giancarlo
He is so handsome!
"Explain yourself"
Underrated actor
Very unbelievably convincing character.
True. Underrated af
Errr no, he's pretty much loved and appraised by people. So no, not underrated.
Not underrated I think, just not widely appreciated.
He gave him the Gus stare at 2:22
Scares me too
1:03 he transforms into Gus effortlessly.
I've watched through the show twice and Salud is still my favorite episode. That look he gives Don Eladio, at the tipping point... gets me every time.
Alex Swedock agreed
Mine too! It’s my favorite episode

It's so weird hearing him out of character.
mthakore but when he pauses for a second its like he goes back in.
You should see him in Do The Right Thing
Who would've thought that he was gonna be the main antagonist of a video game. He can play the role of a sinister villain so well and I admire him for it.
this guy is half Italian. true story.
I could tell by his hand movements lol
Last time I checked he was just half
@@yhavinmiles huh?
His name is a way more Italian then my name.
Amazing character
This is meta on so many levels, even 5 years after this interview. Fascinating study of development of a complex character.
Breaking Bad fans know how great this guy was as Gus Fring and I STILL say he's underappreciated.
Such a great actor! My husband and I just watched this Breaking Bad series during the pandemic--we are so impressed with this character! (I know, I know, everyone has seen it along ago--so new to us and we loved this actor!)
Giancarlo Esposito is easily one of THE most underrated actors of all time!
He's one of the actors which makes you like the antagonist
I loved him and was so sad when the character died.
1:30 - 1:40 = 10 second acting lesson
I saw Gus emerge for a second
I was moved by his performance.
It's so weird seeing him with a face
He got better.
Hahaha
HAAWWWWWW
that laugh at the end was weird because that's an expression Gus *never* has
bad guy? at least he killed his enemies and not innocent people like walt.
no one will miss the cartel.
right , i actually forgot about that, nvm i didn't say anything.

Walt is a bad character. And just because of what you wrote, I did not like it from the beginning.
I think you mean "person", because he's a fantastically-written character.
Twice the interviewer interrupted Giancarlo, twice Gian got frustrated. Then he spoke about how Gus changed him and the importance of pauses.... Then the interviewer interrupted for a third, and scary last time....
Show, dont tell...
very sophisticated man
lol Gus can laugh :)
2:14 a gustavo fring moment here
1:02
wouldn't it be the role of a lifetime if he really did traffic narcotic in real life?
best line : HAAAAWW!!!!!!!
check him out in nothing to lose with martin lawrence hes truly a great actor he was funny as hell in that movie I had no idea it was the same guy until I looked it up that movie came out in the early 90s he looks and sounds so different as gus fring in BB lol
For me, one of the best (with Jesse, Mike and Saul) characters in Breaking Bad. Mystical criminal with character and codex...
I never knew he was Italian. Amazing actor
Gus is not bad he just had to make tough choice more than Walter I loved the gus character
He just nailed it
Best villain in history
Gorgeous, GORGEOUS smile with such an endearing laugh.
I have never seen Gus smile, much less belly laugh like that.
I am entranced! SwwWoOOoonNN!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
This guy... this guy gets it.
I hope he gets the role.
"is the food to your satisfaction?"
LOOK AT ME
It would be hilarious if he'd make that iconic rapid face expressions change
He's such a charming dude

That's not Esposito playing Gus, that's still Gus playing Esposito :)
2:30

Or was he ?
Whyy am i still scared of him XD
Gus
best actor in the series followed by lydia, i still remember the look he gave from the chicken hermanos restaurant to walter and the cop driving away.
Wow, I didn't know he is Italian
Well, he is moving his hands a lot when he talks
He is. He's half black (his mother) and half Italian (his father).
you're not in Chile anymore

mans spiitin
his acting career is actually just a way to launder money
LOL I didn't know Morgan Freeman played in breaking bad
He was smart when he took Jesse and Mike to Mexico to kill the Cartel. But then it was too bad when he got bombed with Hector Salamanca. That crap freaked me out!!! 🙈😱
Why is Gus talking so much?
He sounds like Niel Tyson
Nahhh his real voice don't fit for me
Yeah cause you are used to see him as gus and not his real self.
