You are clearly young and very fit. Women going through perimenopause and menopause can have a harder time doing “typical” exercises. On top of that, I have chronic pain and myriad health issues, despite being very fit and active in my 20s, 30s, and early 40s. But I feel like I can accomplish most of the videos you put out there, and when I can’t, I’m able to figure out a modification. I absolutely adore your videos and I hope you keep doing them, especially anything with women over 50 in mind. Thank you so much!
So glad you are enjoying my videos! Because I have such a wide audience it's great when viewers can make the workouts their own. That's also why I offer videos that are all seated, or all standing. And thanks for called me young and fit. At 45, I don't feel that young anymore :)
@@SeniorShapeFitness oh my goodness! I thought you were in your 20s. Ha ha ha. Well, 45 is still very young. I’m 52, but because I have naturally red hair I usually pass for being in my 30s. Red hair doesn’t go gray. And it takes a very long time to go white. You are doing a really amazing job! You make me feel like I accomplished something important every day and that’s a really big deal to me because I can’t do the types of exercises that used to be able to do. My only big question/comment is a lot of women gain weight around their middle during menopause, and I already had a fairly large chest… This means that when you do exercises where you pull the knees up to the chest, or you do crunches… I can’t possibly achieve those because there’s “stuff” in the way. Of course I hope that this will get better due to exercising… But my doctor has told me this is just menopause and genetics. So the only exercises that I really can’t do/modify are ones that very slim people can’t imagine not being able to do. I don’t know if I’m making sense. But I think there are other women out there that struggle, especially since your channel is geared towards seniors, I wonder if you have any suggestions on modifying exercises for women who have menopause belly and a larger chest. I literally cannot pull my knees (my knees are also problematic! They hurt, and they tend to pop out of place) up to my chest nor can I touch my elbow to my knee with crunches. Thank you so much! It’s so embarrassing to ask this. But out of all of the exercise videos I watch, yours is the absolute best, and I thought you would definitely have a solution. Thank you so much!
@@LenoirNevermore You're so kind, and I love your honest questions. Please don't be embarrassed at all, I actually had another viewer ask me the same thing this week (regarding belly getting in the way). I will definitely plan a new workout with this in mind. Meanwhile, modify by not trying to crunch or bring the knee up towards the chest, but by just twisting the torso. They way, you still are activating your abdominals, and working on spinal flexibility (so important!). Hope this helps a little!
Yes, I agree. I’m 64 and healing from GB surgery which has taken a lot out of me. I was always very active but this illness (I was sick for a year and a half before they discovered the bad GB) has just knocked me on my butt. Caused a lot of neurological issues too. I’m working on healing now with beginner strength training and stretching. Thank you for these gentle exercises that we need to get our strength back. 🙏🏼🌾🙏🏼💪🏼
I have been working out with you nearly everyday since the beginning of the year and have so enjoyed you and the session. Sadly at the weekend I ruptured my achilles tendon while dancing. I can now only do Chair exercises for next few months so please keep them coming 😢
Love these short videos. As I get older, I've discovered that doing a couple of these throughout the day works even better than one long one. Thank you!
I'm 81 years old and I am loving your videos. I've been doing this one and the 20 minute walking video every day for about two weeks now. I'll probably try more of the videos as time goes on. I also do a floor routine that is stretching, strength, and core. I'm determined to keep this old body going for as long as I can. Thanks for helping!
Great stretches Lauren! Loved these stretches! Great to do after one of your cardio and/or strength training workouts. Love all your videos and content! ❤❤❤
Thanks for your videos. Searched RUclips to look for gentle and slow exercises designed for 50+ and with the beginner's mind-set in place. Especially talking slow, talking gentle, with pause, and creating a peaceful mood throughout the entire workout is what I was looking for. Thank you.
I am nearing 70 and still take ballet class, so I have liked your workouts as they still offer me a good workout in between classes. Let’s face it I am working to keep muscle with minimal joint strain, as I want to minimize that so I can continue to dance!
I am 64 yrs old grandma and sometimes I don’t have time to stretch. Thank you, after this wonderful short stretch I will sleep better and my hips feel better too.love your videos ,my friend and I do them at lunchtime at our jobs.
Thank you. I’m a senior who is really out of shape and these exercises are really doable. I can follow along,so I can see myself sticking with this for great results. Thank you again 😊
I am loving your videos. Everything about them. I’m coming out of long Covid fatigue and you make it so easy for me to modify the moves . It’s a pleasure to exercise again.
Recovering from severe vertigo.balance screwed up. Found this series last week. Such a relief to be able to sit to workout! You are a blessing - you explain step-by-step.movements are controlled and effective.Thank you!
I love your chair workouts!! They have literally given me a new life. For years I have quit working out (except riding my e bike and until recently beach walking) Arthritis and bone on bone have prevented almost any kind of stand up workout. I found out and started your cardio workout with weights (up to 3 lbs now) last February and have since added your (chair) 10 minute legs and (chair) 10 minute abs as well as the stretch at the end. I do it every other day and it has a lifesaver. After my knee replacement next month I hope to start enjoying some of your other workouts. Thank you so much for making these videos.
I did this right after work today and it felt so nice! This was perfect amount of time for me as well as doable as I am getting back into being fit. Thank you so much!
Lauren what a wonderful stretch! It was so relaxing - the best one ever. Nice way to end the 10 min arms and abs. Again thank you for such great workouts for those of us close to 60!
Thank you, another great exercise session. I will incorporate this one as well. Thanks again...easy to follow and I feel relaxed and calmer after completing it.

I am so grateful for You! I have never been in a disable situation and when my knee went out on me due to low cartilage and a bit of arthritis, i could barely walk, putting all the weight on my orher knee it decided to join the other one😂so i was outta commission for about a week or so, i can do most of these moves i improvise what can be a challenge right now, i do know the more i do these the stronger i will be eventually. i am 61 and need these in my life! So glad I came across your videos! I had been doing yoga the last few years and felt very fit, but then my body started telling me to slow down at 68. Back pain, hip pain, arm pain. Your workouts and stretches have been just the thing to help me alleviate these pains and get back to some of the yoga I love to do! I love your kind, soft-spoken demeanor and careful instructions. Thank you!
Did all the 10 minute videos just now. What I appreciated, other than all of the exercises, was the isometrics within them. I like doing isometrics and find myself stopping too soon. Having the push to continue to hold really helps.
Love this! The music is wonderful! Your voice is soothing, I come back to your videos time and time again. I am 68 years old and am determined to be in better shape now that when I was 40! Thanks for the inspiration!
Lauren, I'm loving the mix and match of 10 minute chair segments! I find that I'm doing more and able to hit the areas that are really demanding it. thanks!
I love this one for my morning stretch. Gets my day started! You have been a lifesaver for me! I’m stronger than I’ve ever been due to your video instruction. 🙂
I did this stretch routine after your latest workout video (Best Strength Workout for Seniors & Beginners) & it was perfect. So relaxing and stretching and the background music very soothing. I will now go through your channel to find similar workouts - thank you so much!!
I work out to a few of your videos daily. I just tried your 10 minute chairside stretch after my 1.5hr p8wer walk. Did wonders. Love your videos Lauren . Thank you😊
Love this video. I had my hip replaced about 7 years ago and your videos have really helped me increase my flexibility and strength. Thank you, Lauren! I’ve been sharing your channel with my family and friends.
Lauren, I love your seated stretch and yoga programs! You are a great teacher with a gentle voice, clear instructions and positive tone! The hip flexor stretches are so hard for me trying to stay upwards. I'll keep trying but I end up using the table in front of me and the side of the chair to try and get into this stretch. Any suggestions? Thank you for your great programs! I love them all!
Thanks so much Karen! It actually sounds like you are already doing the perfect modification for the hip flexor stretches. Using a table in front will offer the needed stability. Alternatively, I would recommend doing the same stretch in a standing position. I do this hip flexor stretch a lot in my standing videos. Just extend your leg back behind you (straight) and tilt your pelvis forward until you feel the stretch. Hope that helps!
@@SeniorShapeFitness your program of seated yoga is making a big difference for me. Along with some gym time, I'm feeling stronger. Please keep up the great work!

Wow I have just found your site, started with the exercise ball and now found the seated exercises. Awesome thanks so much, I will be continuing as they make my old body feel much more flexible and comfortable

I really love being able to still exercise but everything has to be so incredibly modified. I can’t do anything that is jarring on my feet, and I simply can’t do crunches. I appreciate you so much! ❤
I have been creating on my computer and needed a little S T R E T C H break. This was awesome, especially the hip flexors. I had to let my IG and FB friends on my lives know that the can quickly turn their office into a gym; without even leaving their chairs! Hope to see some of them subscribe to your channel. On my way to the other Chair-ercizes....
Day 68, I felt a bit unmotivated tonight, as I did do a run this morning and a walk, and to be honest, I searched for the shortest video I had not done yet, thinking, "just do the 10 min to keep going with the challenge". But it was actually really beneficial for my neck and back pain and rounded up the day nicely.
I have a neuro muscular disease and do your sitting videos 2 times per week. I love the one with Therabands. Can I share your link with the GBS/CIDP Foundation?
I found that if I do your 10 minute abs, then your 10 minute legs, the your 10 minute stretch, it’s a perfect set to feel wonderful that evening. Tomorrow maybe your chair Pilates or dynamic chair yoga flow and then stretch. I feel so much better knowing I’m finally getting back into exercise. I’m 76 and that’s the only way to stay fit and flexible. So glad I found your routines! So after I’m comfortable with these beginner sets, what do you recommend as your next level?
Great Kay! I'm so glad you found me as well :) When you are ready, go to my "stretching" playlist and try a few of the standing stretches. My new recovery workout would be good to start with, or my morning stretch. Let me know if you need the links :)
Loved it as usual. Did it on my Swiss ball. I think your stretches on the ball or chair are as effective as the ones on the floor. Am I right? Ciao from Italy and Happy Valentine's day.🤍
Hi Laura! I LOVE that you did this on your Swiss ball, good for you! Yes, you can get just as good of a stretch in a chair or on a ball. The only area that I prefer the floor for is my back (but that's just me personally) My lower back gets super tight and I need the floor to relax it.
@@SeniorShapeFitness thanks a million for your answer and advice. My lower back gets tight too and aches😩but all your workouts help a lot. And with your smile and positivity you put me in a good mood 🥰

Thanks so much Karen! It actually sounds like you are already doing the perfect modification for the hip flexor stretches. Using a table in front will offer the needed stability. You are most welcome :)
Great exercise ,thanks so much .🦋🌈💕
Glad you liked it!! Thanks for working out with me :)
Thank you for the video
You're welcome Lori :)

Great! Thanks so much Deborah :)
Thanks a lot!❤
My pleasure :)
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing and I'm thrilled you loved it :)
This stretch is a blessing 🎉 thanks so much ✨❤️
My pleasure. I'm so glad you liked it :)
What a wonderfully, yummy and delicious stretch this was! Just what I needed! Thanks, Lauren!
Glad you enjoyed it! You are most welcome :)
We paired this with the new video that came out this morning and that was a great workout for us - a little easy but not too easy! :)
Thanks so much Jeanne ;)
Awesome
Thank you 🤩
Ahhhhh😊
Thank you ❤
anytime Kelly :)
It's nice to hear that this was helpful :)
i thought you were in your 20s as well! Love all your videos i have done so far.
Oh thank you! Glad you are enjoying my workouts Susan 🤩
Τhis is exactly what I needed😃❤
Happy to hear it's helpful :)
I have a neuro muscular disease and do your sitting videos 2 times per week. I love the one with Therabands. Can I share your link with the GBS/CIDP Foundation?
You may share it. Thank you for asking Angela :)
Great Kay! I'm so glad you found me as well :)
When you are ready, go to my "stretching" playlist and try a few of the standing stretches.
Thank you
You're welcome 😀
Good workout
Thanks Lillian :)
I'm still doing these stretches every day. Can you tell me if they will help tone me up when I do them with the yoga breathing? Thank you. :)
Stretching is great for mobility, but if you want to tone up you should add in some strength training with light weights.
Lovely and gentle, is it safe for hip replacements?
Depends if the hip replacement was recent Margie. If it was recent you'll just want to avoid crossing your legs.
I love this chair stretch. It's like chair yoga, right? I feel so good after I am finished doing them. :)
Great Mary! It is like chair yoga :)
