It's a simple fact, you can't let critics' opinions affect your view on the movie. It's a monster movie. It's not supposed to be perfection, it's supposed to be a thrill ride, and that's exactly what this was🔥
Not that I disagree, but why critic’s specifically? It’s not like audiences are *that* much better, just look at how people online act and think
@@SMM5 True, but he probably meant the audience score, which is at 93%
And being a thrill ride can be either an amusement or horrifying. Kong and Godzilla are the examples who can shift either one.
@@SMM5 I'm referring to the audience score. RT as a whole doesn't matter, but audience scores are much more important than critical scores in almost every category
Cope
Critics: this film is NOT as good as Godzilla Minus One
Fans (us): this film is NOT Godzilla Minus One
Wait till they find out that monster verse's Goji was the reason for filming Minus One goji.
He's got a point though
@@Doggo_is_sus literally minus one wouldn't exist without the monster verse lmao.
I don't listen to critics. They mostly are so stuck up in their reviews. It's like they don't even know what movies they're supposedly watching. If there's gay themes, controversial subject matter, risqué or graphic sex, violence and language, that's what they tend to praise, and many of those movies are BORING.
It sucks that critics view of a good movie is christopher nolan levels of masterpiece rather than the qualities on what makes it good and enjoyable
They used to do that with older movies from 2010 to 2019 ish and then came the age where movies become boring and the new norm is a masterpiece level movie in order for it to be considered a good movie, heck even the despicable me franchise is somewhat considered to be good and its not even a masterpiece
The one sequence in the storyline with Kong literally conveys heart and emotion without speaking a single word, just facial expressions and body language
honestly, I could understand what they were saying without them speaking words.
I loved that so much!!!
That's what shocked me, the director proves he understands the idea of "show, don't tell" with the Kong scenes but then spends half of the movie's runtime turning the human characters into annoying exposition machines. It feels like he's telling the audience he knows how to make a good movie and still chose to make dogshit on purpose.
Godzilla X Kong was a great monsterverse movie that was worth the watch. I never let critics determine the worth of a movie that I want to watch. I judge movies for myself.
Same I only trust my opinion not the opinion of others.
Saw it today. It was good. My only criticisms are it was a bit rushed and they could have utilized this movie to introduce titan language. Which could have fleshed out more exposition in what happened in hollow earths past. The storys exposition should have been done by none othen then godzilla recollecting what happened
Like when the ewe tribe talks about it being the same time godzilla and mothra explaining to kong what happened in the past. So as amanda talks about it, godzillas memories are shown. That would have been epic

You cannot compare Gozdilla x Kong and Godzilla Minus One. One is a big budget popcorn movie with Kaiju fights. The other is a thought provoking, emotional story about a pilot with PTSD. They are not the same.
Don't expect pretentious film critics to use common sense. Every movie has to be deep and complex for them because they need movies to fulfill some sort of higher purpose in their lives.
And that is stupid I mean the critic@@Hyperslayer_X
I'm getting really tired of every movie having to revolve around some sort of trauma in order for it to be considered worthwhile by critics.

As a fan of kaiju mayhem, this film actually added another dimension to it which is the monster's emotion. You know, sadness, anger, tired, happy and they can even laugh! This added character development to these monsters who were seemingly just slugging it out on older Godzilla films. And that I think brings out a new angle and enough reason for them to go to war and not just mindlessly duke it. For me, this makes the battle royale even more tasteful and intense! Godzilla and Kong Forever! 🥳
The film is exactly what most fans wanted, angry lizard x flying monkey pounding on other monsters whilst causing massive collateral damage. This movie is tailored for attracting young audiences, and providing good dumb escapism for adults. It's a good evolution of the Showa era.
So it's for children and selling toys? Got it. I'll wait for Toho's next film.

I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion
*Critics when GxK isn’t dark and depressing like G-1:*
either dark and serious or goofy and fun, all godzilla movies are great on their own right
If there is a dark movie, there should be a goofy one
Godzilla 2014 was dark and intense but that didn't stop them from bashing it either. Critics are dumb
Youre actually wrong, they want it to be more "diverse" and gay. Gotta keep in mind these critics are those types of people.
But big cinema also were mad that it didn't cost them $200M to make G-1
I left the cinema with a big smile on my face after seeing The New Empire. Kong and Gia's struggle of trying to find where they belong was the heart of the movie for me, as I found it very relatable.
Critics lost touch with the fact is that you review a film based on what they are, not on what they want them to be.
Minus One has ruined critics view of Godzilla, they think EVERY Godzilla film is a dark, grim art piece. They are so wrong though, just look at the older movies, Godzilla FLYS!
No Minus one elevated the Godzilla franchise so they expect more not less
Yea now they seek approval.
@@che8626 Dunno what you mean by that but this movie was really good in its own way. Comparing it to Minus one is pretty much pointless to me
Critics are like normal humans nothing makes them special. Their opinions change just like ours and this movie just fell near minus one when the critics were meat riding on it. Minus one may be the best Godzilla film, but it did hurt GxK a lot.
Exactly, the last thing godzilla fans need are movie purists dissecting it. I’d like to see them dissect the old showa era movies. Its godzilla damnit not Oppenheimer, let them fight and destroy things
I do not care what the critics say. I sat in the theater with a huge smile. The movie made me feel like I was 10 years old again and it was Saturday and Godzilla Vs Hedora was playing. The movie feels like a 70's Godzilla film, but with modern special effects. I plan on going to see it again this weekend. I saw it in real 3D and I felt it was worth the extra charge.
That’s what it’s all about. Very well stated.
Critics really just don't know what they're doing most of the time especially "top critics".
I’m 65 and remember watching Godzilla King of the Monsters on a small black & white TV like it was yesterday. I have loved The King ever since in all his glory. Stay young at heart ❤️.
This film is like a huge Yoshimitsu banno tribute to me, from G-man fighting in the desert to him flying. Because without him, we would never have the Monsterverse. And you already know how absurb Mr. Banno film looks.
@@NuNugirl I remember my mom talking me to the drive in to go see Godzilla vs. Megalon. And yes we all love the guy in the Godzilla suit.
I did a quick binge of the four movies leading up to this one (previously only saw Kong Skull Island and Godzilla (2014) in theaters). Going in I could see each movie built up on the previous installment the tech, the human characters, the scale, and expectations. Watched the new one in IMAX and was more pleased with the non verbal communication of the monsters. They definitely focused time on showing the monsters with more thought and reactions in the scenes than the previous ones. As for moving the plot along, the story did a lot of shortcuts to make the scenes connect, with use of movie logic. But that ended up working out so that it was not dragging too long with exposition. And even with the shortcuts they still allowed the human characters time to have some personality. And if you are a fan of the retro 80's aesthetic this movie had it in spades. From the music to the vehicles to the visuals of terrain. The ending does make a good stopping point of the franchise, but allows it to continue if they want.
I actually griped about some of the interactions of the monsters but the film was good.
Oh man, Godzilla X Kong was SO MUCH FUN!! It hearkens back to a simpler time, back when movies didn't have to take themselves so seriously or explain everything away. Personally, I loved how many moments there were where they just let the monsters' expressions do the talking without any dialogue--movies don't really do that anymore but it gives the audience some credit and allows for different interpretations.
I'm still gonna watch it. I've never listened to the critics
Is a fun movie you won’t regret
Yes you should it's a good movie
Definitely a real fun movie I loved it!
You won't regret it, it's amazing!
The critics reviews don't really matter imo the only thing that matters is the audience review and it seems like the audience loved it.
The only critic to listen to is the creator of minus one. He enjoyed it. That tells you everything. I saw it twice and loved it. My favorite monster verse movie so far. Packed theater.
Its annoying isnt it? Cause some audience who didnt like gxk, and alot of the critics are making it sound like its a competition. Lol, takashi promoted the hell out of this movie, that's how much he liked it, so much that lately he has started expressing interest in getting godzilla minus one a sequel in where godzilla fights another monster. And he is a fan of the monsterverse, you can see it in some scenes in minus, few scenes where homage to G2014 and gvk.
@@rcguitarcovers8614 Exactly. I just said this. I enjoyed this, great time in theater with the family (shame that’s a rarity these says). Both films can be great. I love The Godfather and Goodfellas,.. but I also like Dredd 2012 and Wanted. Sick of the competition narrative.
Fact, because he knew how to make a monster movie especially Godzilla because they understand their character during their conversation with Adam Wingard. And it works we have a dark and tragedy movie, and we have a movie where the monsters are the character we follow and can reflect with.
Assuming he was being honest. At the time it was hard to say whether he really liked the film or was being polite. Now, having seen GxK, I think he genuinely liked it.
Who doesn't like to see Godzilla on a smooth day of work? GxK Godzilla was having the time of his life and it was awesome to see a non miserable Godzilla effortlessly and ruthlessly win every scene he was in.
He finally didn't get Jean Claude Van Damned this time. He just kicked ass.
Yeah Godzilla was a pure unadulterated badass in this film.
@@Alzilla09Let's not take away credit from Kong here, (spoilers)
he finally got his get back after he pummeled Godzilla to the ground and tried to drag him down to Hollow Earth, still true that he was an absolute badass, just seeing him get thawed after being frozen by Shimo was so cool
@@megarayquaza9054 I don’t know bout that since Godzilla actual killed Kong
When Kong only knocked him for a few seconds then got saved by Godzilla’s gf 😂
The New Empire opens a whole new realm for the franchise. Kong and Sukos bridge scene was terrifying if you think about the bridge itself.
That small scene does scare me too, that thing was unfathomably huge
Last night I sat down and read every single negative review and about 89% of them were either mindlessly comparing it to minus one or just insulting the movie, none of them felt like actual reviews and it's clear that only a few of them actually understood what the movie was going for.
this is the reason why people keep hopping on the same bandwagon
They say they like it, then other people see it, these same people then proceed to hop on the bandwagon of hating that other thing and keeps it going until it reaches other people, and it never stops as long as more people get on the bandwagon
Critics dont care about what the movie is supposed to be, they only follow their own opinions and that is why nobody even trusts rotten tomatoes anymore, so its best for people to just see the movie themselves instead of listening to an old hag whining about the movie and how its "bad"
Oh, they absolutely understand what the movie was going for, they just don't respect it because it doesn't abide by their requirements. If it doesn't check every box, it's rejected.
Screw the critics. I'm going to watch it and I'm going to enjoy every second

The critics were right. King of the Monsters sucks. I can appreciate Kaiju films when they’re good. That movie just blows. Poor writing, bad characters, terrible lighting, and shaky camera galore.
I watched the movie with my family during a pre-release in IMAX and I enjoyed it so much! The whole theater was clapping at the end. The critics are comparing the movie to Godzilla Minus One, which is okay, but the franchise is so versatile that Godzilla can work seriously or fun. The movie was a love letter to Showa era and the fans.
10/10
For a long time I have just waited for the audience reviews, those truly reflect the movie's quality, specially when they are the type made for fans. It's very simply, if you're not a fan you'll not enjoy some movies.
Edit: also many bad critics just use the "not as good as Minus One" sentence... They are not even the same type of movies, one is center on the human's struggles against an unstoppable force while dealing with a post war era, and the other one is a movie center on big monsters clashing.
I think it's quite obvious that a lot of critics see these films in a very narrow, restricted way - meaning Wingard's entries in particular: The monsters ARE the protagonists. It's beyond obvious the entire narrative in GxKis about Kong's journey - his emotional journey and search for home. He. Is. The. Main. Character.
All of the other monsters, even the bit players, have personality to them.
I think a lot of critics have a hard time tuning into the fact that the monsters aren't just VFX in action scenes - but CHARACTERS. So when critics say "there is no story or character development" they are demonstrably wrong, because they looking at this film in the most shallow way possible by virtue of it being about giant monsters. Because it's a big, fantastical, pulpy comic book of a film, they immediately look down upon it as lesser. So of course they aren't going to see what's right in front of them.
No character development? Kong and Suko go through a whole-ass arc. And although they are mostly for exposition, Dr. Andrews, Jia, and even Bernie have arcs as well. They're just not he main protagonists. KONG IS.
Also, can we acknowledge that a LOT of "critics" on RT aren't actually critics in the film-educated sense? They're just casuals with TY channels who only ever glean the surface of anything they watch?
Call me a snob, but I don't think people like Emily Wolfe and Jeremy freakin' Jahns should be considered a "film critics." They're just people who kinda like movies as a hobby.
It’s simple. This movie is for the fans, not the critics. A critic will say that it doesn’t make logical sense, whereas fans will go into the cinema without even expecting it to make sense. They just want to enjoy these insane „escapist” movies where big monsters beat each other up
Couldn't have said it any better
Not everyone wants to turn their brains off to enjoy a movie. If you can't accept that then I just don't know what to tell you.
That's how it is with most good movies and shows these days. If it's for the fans, the critics will despise it while everyone else loves it. If a movie or show is given a good review by a critic, you may want to be a bit skeptical.
"For the fans" means it's two hours of kiss-ass. My time is more valuable than that.
@@ashuraomega1000 I never said I can’t accept it, I’m just saying that this is the way this particular movie is supposed to be watched. There are flaws, and I see the flaws, but does it matter when you’re a diehard Godzilla or Kong enthusiast? Fuck no it doesn’t! You watch GxK for the lizard and monke, not shtoopid hoomans and hooman logic
I'm gonna say one thing the Mario Movie taught me and I think is good advice for everyone:
Screw the critics, at this day and age, you're better off watching the movie yourself and form your own opinion on what you watch or check on what the audience and even what some RUclips channels say about the movies in their reviews, because here's the thing about critics:
They're out of touch. All of them.
That........ was exactly what I was going to say. But that's fair
It was a good movie. My honest criticism is that it should have been longer and they should have made a plotlone where godzilla and kong actually had dialogur and did some kind of ambush or something in hollow earth. Would have made it cooler to see mothra kong and godzilla working as a unit as per plan
If you enjoy either of the two movies, it's okay and I respect that.
Nevertheless, Godzilla x Kong is a far better rendition to the series than that other crap to its franchise.
I had so much fun watching this film. Lol, the theatre started cheering when Godzilla and Kong teamed up. Pretty fun theatre experience.

Mainly because cgi is expensive the only reason there was so much in this one is because gvk did well so if this one does even better (which so far it is) the next one will probably have more cgi creatures meaning more monster time and hopefully more monster character development, even in this one you can see how much character the monsters can have with suko (baby kong) and scar king with his laugh the monsters feel so alive but because of expensive cgi we were only given a taste of it
For me my favorite monsterverse movie was Godzilla 2014, I really liked how it seems more like an apocalypse, and it shows a lot of human perspectives of the fights. I feel like legendary has slowly started leaning away from the apocalyptic feel and more into the chaos/action-packed feel, which isn’t bad but I still miss the old feel. Which is why I’m excited to see minus one eventually, because it goes back to the apocalyptic feel. Anyways I haven’t seen minus one or Godzilla x Kong yet so I don’t have a whole lot of fact to go off of, so I’m just going off of trailers.

Have to say I love the community you have here. I’m in a community group on Facebook and it’s extremely divided ever since -1.0 has come out and it’s infuriating. As if Godzilla’s Legacy should be forgotten because -1.0 is the new “golden standard”. It’s sad to see many either say the past should stay in the past. But here I’ve seen nothing but love for everything Godzilla. Congrats Dangerville, you’ve become a great home to the King of the Monsters and his fans
"it’s extremely divided ever since -1.0 has come out and it’s infuriating"
I knew that was going to happen but I didn't think it would be so soon.
Why is that infuriating? It's Fantastic that -1 is the new golden standard for Godzilla movies. This is NOT primarily a Godzilla film.
@@bk7064 There has long been several styles of Godzilla movies. Saying they all should be like GMO is a snobbish rejection of the other styles just because they're not elevated enough to be considered respectable by people like you. They're all valid whether you like it or not and you don't get to gentrify the franchise. You act like you need to chop off entire branches in order for the one you prefer to thrive.
You got any room for simple silly fun in your life or are you just a joyless drama sponge? GMO did well, people love it, you'll get more like it and movies like GXK aren't a threat to that.
@@synical13 You got any room for simple understanding of what others are trying to say? Nobody suggested they should stop making fun Godzilla movies. The fact is that this is NOT a Godzilla film. Title it as a Kong movie because it is a KONG movie. Putting Godzilla in the title (especially first) sets people up into thinking this is a story revolving around him. Take Captain America: Civil War for example. Even though other major characters are in it, it's still a Captain America film! And guess what? You don't need puffy fluffy moments every second for a movie to be fun. People love Godzilla 2014, Kong Skull Island, and even KOTM the most in the MV. Know what movie has been the least favorite thus far by fans? Godzilla v Kong, which tells us that you can't always get away from awfully written characters and plot progression. Sure it's entertaining, but a universe doesn't LAST with ONLY mindless action. The complaints of fans AND critics are completely justified in wanting just a minuscule measure of depth in writing. Criticizing a movie is not a threat to fun Godzilla movies.
Take everything you just said and throw it away because none of it even applies to what was said.
@@bk7064 Oh, I see, let me fix your comment:
"Why is that infuriating? It's Fantastic that -1 is the new golden standard for Godzilla movies. This is NOT a Godzilla film...which I only say because the story doesn't revolve around Godzilla, not necessarily because I don't respect other versions."
There you go. Next time, don't leave out the important part that makes your point clear and that way it won't seem like you're implying something else, that's how you eliminate the possibility of confusion.
Yes, by your standards, it's a Kong movie with a guest appearance by Godzilla. By my standards, all that matters to ME with these MV movies are simply the monsters that are in it and the fights, everything else is unnecessary and intrusive, including story. So, by my criteria, his name is in the title and he's in the movie, so it's both a Kong AND a Godzilla movie. Isn't subjectivity fun?
Oh, one more thing: "a universe doesn't LAST with ONLY mindless action"
Are you sure about that? Are you sure there isn't a successful 7 film franchise that's been going for 17 years about transforming robots that's nothing but mindless action?
I think the critics are going to hate because of ghidorahstan64
Just saw the movie last night (3/29) on opening day and let me say holy shit!!!!
I agree with the mayor it was fast paced however I understand why. The big reveal they had was awesome!!! I love how they got the monsters expressions and show cased it.
All in all thanks to dangerville for the lore videos and their videos, I was geeking out hard and my wife was as well. Thank you Dangerville!!!!
My biggest problem was the editing, i wanna see the directors cut. Just a few more scenes during certain moments of the film (if you've seen it you know) could have given it a more meaningful impact. I've seen it twice, and i love it.
I really wish godzilla and kong had a moment of understanding after the final battle
Also my take. It seemed so rushed, but I still enjoyed it.
It was rushed.. and they didn't give some time for scenes ... It was little rushed... That the only problem I have
Extremely rushed especially all the jia /mothra stuff. I’m gonna go back again and try to watch it for what it is and try to take in the story more.
@@Joebiidensame with me. Really loved the monster centric approach this movie, but yeah some scenes felt rushed. Wouldn’t mind seeing a directors cut just to add context to some of scenes that felt rushed.
Completely stayed away from any media concerned with the movie after the first two trailers. And when I went to go see it yesterday off of that alone? It was so worth it. Has a special place in my Mv list along with king of the monsters
I saw it yesterday in 3D, exactly in the center of the theater, and it was very good, entertaining and has so many great parts...
Top G, of course, with his always awesome self, the Scar King was quite a character and you got to see how he got to be the leader of the great apes with his insane demeanor, I could actually relate to Shimo and her situation, but most relatable of all was Kong, whom I've become quite fond of... I love seeing him going through all this, how he responds in the various situations, especially his interactions with the other great apes...
Solid movie that delivers BIG...!
I seen the movie my self, I was literally at the EDGE of my seat , and I was never big King Kong fan, but now he has a special place in my heart fr.
I knew the reviews were bad going in. I stayed as spoiler free as the trailers would let me. I had real issues with the screenplays of 2014, KOTM, and GvK, and thought the got progressively worse. I went into the film with real trepidation, expecting, as before, that I would have to excuse the bad storytelling just to enjoy the beast beastdowns. I was pleasantly surprised. As the film progressed, I kept checking my watch, wondering when the stupid would finally kick in. It never came, at least not anything remotely as sloppy as was on display in the last two entries.
I watched in 3D IMAX today, absolutely loved it. I thought the special effects were incredible, 10 years ago they had to keep Godzilla under darkness most of the time but now he's in sharp light most of the time and still looks amazing.
LOVE YOUU
Excuse me just wanna ask a question, what the difference between the regular and imax 3d? Does the 3d one require those red and blue 3d googles that can take the image pop out of screen?
The movie isn’t perfect and I’m not expecting critics to blindly praise it, but most of the negative reviews don’t even point out actual flaws of the film and just say that it’s an emotionless blockbuster.
TRUEEEE
Yeaaa its real flaw was the storyline was too rushed, godzilla was nerfed and sidelined. I love kong but it seems weird now that this is the secret nf movie where godzilla takes a backseat role in the final villians death
For me the main flaw was the set backgrounds. Kong scenes in Hollow Earth didn't all feel like they were linking the same environment from shot to shot. The human scenes had a lot of bad sets being blurred out whenever there were shots focused on them and not the landscape. Other than that and the unessential characters getting extra lines the movie was really fun. Visual story telling was peak. Scar King had amazing body language and swagger, didn't expect to enjoy his scenes as much as I did.

bro it was only 2 hours...? it felt like 4 years... best 4 years of my life ngl
I just watched it last night and I Loved it. I can't wait for them to continue with the Godzilla storyline that will introduce more of the other Titans and maybe see the aliens introduced followed by Space Godzilla. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
Lately nowadays all movies that’ve been hyped up have been giving low ratings, like fnaf, kung fu panda, godzilla x kong, black panther 2, believe it or not even spiderman into the spider verse got backlash before fans fought back
These movies are considered for the fans rather than critics, which critics will probably praise movies with deep emotional storytelling or when a movie isnt too overhyped to be seen as a disappointment, like other upcoming animated movies like the wild robot or transformers one which we havent seen any news about those yet and only time will tell if they are good or not which i hope they will be good
out of all the ones you listed Black Panther 2 deserved its low rating its was a dumpster fire all because Marvel didn't want to recast the main Character after the actors death
Because the movies are rushed and poorly made storyline wise! They're just making cgi spectacles and stealing ppls hard earned money. For example.. how the hell Mothra egg end up in hollow earth? When after kotm they clearly stated she had an egg layed on the earth surface before she sacrifices herself..not hollow earth. Smh bad storyline..no continuity
@@redschafer7804because that’s pretty disrespectful to just recast the character especially when the original actor played them so well
no its not disrespectful to recast a role after an actors death they had they time to do it as the movie came out a whole two years after Boseman's death Black Panther 2 suffered because the MC wasn't in it.
Bro I Watched Godzilla X Kong Just Hours Ago ! Man It's Sooo Goooood !!!! THE HYPE IS REAL Y'ALL ❤
Me too,movie is super great
Got a standing ovation at my theater 🤷♂️
I’m watching again tomorrow with my AMC-A list in IMAX.🔥🍿 man the first time I took my niece on friday everyone in my theater had a BLAST throughout the 2nd half🤣🤣 ..I enjoyed the vibes so ima use my pass for another experience 👏🏾👏🏾
Kong tried to drag Zilla by his tail into the hollow earth. I thought that was so freaking funny! Loved the movie.
that was so epic and funny lmao
The suplex was even funnier.
I want a baby Godzilla, so I can see a modern take on what they do with his tail.
Kong in This Movie was straight up "80's Action Hero " like Stallone/ Arnold
So like in the original Kong vs Godzilla?
DANGERVILLE IS THE BEST GODZILLA CHANNEL FOR A REASON!!! THIS MOVIE WAS PEAK!! Critics, Minus One Fans, and Grifters like Moon, Doktor Skipper, and now seemingly others (some should automatically come to mind) have no bearing or overall relevance in the overall fandom. Screw all these people, long live Godzilla and long live KING FREAKING KONG🔥🔥
America made the worst possible godzilla movie to honor tohos films
@@Chubbytoad12 Really though? Did they?
@@TRIOAntimations yes I am huge goji fan
@@Chubbytoad12 So am I. And I disagree. But that’s my opinion.
@@Chubbytoad12Creator of Godzilla said they killed Godzilla when they made the Smog monster lol. So no.
Just watched GxK and it was awesome. Definitely my favorite film in the Monsterverse now. Skar King’s entrance may be one of my favorite scenes in the whole franchise now. This was the film I was waiting for.
Allistor, what we need to talk about is how good it was. Talking about negative reviews only feeds them. The human story while not perfect was actually nice and i enjoyed the car more than most other monsterverse films. I really hope dangerville does a video on how well the titan interactions were. I can't be the only person greening blown away by Adam's silent dialog performance. U could feel what the monsters were saying and that was dynamic in a way I've never seen before
I loved watching this last night. It was sooo much fun! However, I did have one issue: the poor handling of Skar King and Shimo. They were introduced way too late, imo. We should've been introduced to them by the 30 minute mark, not the hour and ten minute mark.
Their limited screen time hurt their presence. We should've had more scenes of Skar King being an oppressive tyrant but also an intelligent force, and Shimo being tortured by him and having flashbacks of her alliance with Godzilla, so it builds up her eventual redemption by the end
Yes!
There was a lot missing. Was the ape scar king killed sukos guardian ? Cant wait to see this again
totally agree it should’ve been either two parts or avatar 3hr style
Maybe in the director´s cut. Movie would have been longer (hell yes!) but more costly.
I believe godzilla was sort of pointless in this movie as well. If anything they better be setting him up for the next movie with how they changed him because he had a dramatic change but no real impact in the movie. Another thing I noticed is how easily they shifted from a sort of realistic sense of titans to this kinda pacific rim/mcu fiction which i felt to be a bit disappointing in a way. even you can notice godzillas cgi is a bit off in this movie. this was mainly a kong movie but i do however think that kong is easily the best part of this movie and i wish we got to see more of kong and godzillas history in this movie.
The audience rocks🤘🏻
the way Godzilla was in GODMODE the whole movie, then Went Super Saiyan Rose.
Awesome review Brother Alistar!!😊. and thanks for pointing the crazy critics who likely are paid shills by a rival studio in many a case. Some of this critics need to be just erased from ones memory banks. Lol
This film was wonderful. Only gripe is more freaking godzilla!! I loved it also showed alot of how powerful Godzilla is and more on kongs new life and had heart and alot of comedy( especially with a little kong and the fights heh). Definitely the best enjoyable popcorn blockbuster film ive seen this year. I give it 7.8 -8 out of 10
. I'll likely go watch one more time. I now need to see godzilla minus one.😊 what wonderful yr for the monster genre and the absolute king and icon of monsters.
.......GODZILLA IS BACK!!❤🎉
I’m going to be completely honest. I love Godzilla minus one, definitely one of the best in the franchise and one of the best films I’ve seen. But I hate what it has done for the future of the franchise. It has made a lot of people think that every film moving forward has to be another minus one. It just seems like people can’t see that these two films (Minus one and GXK) are supposed to be 2 completely different movies.
I’m mostly talking about the people that keep comparing the monsterverse to Minus One, and feel that they are terrible movies just because Minus One was phenomenal. They are two different kinds of films, STOP COMPARING THEM.
@@Cassette_ManzThis is the 38th Godzilla movie, us original fans are still watching him, so don’t sweat the small stuff. New fans are just now discovering him.
Man i miss when people did not compare shin godzilla to the monsterverse, or just accepted that these two can exist at the same time
But its because of the new day and age of movies where every new film has to be another minus one
Did you miss people freaking doing the same thing over Shin Godzilla? Because they were. Honestly I didn't care for it. But every form for every movie in the monsterverse was being compared to it.
The movie has done nothing bad for the franchise, it's the current internet culture of bandwagonning trend hoppers who now latched onto Godzilla and are acting like everything has to be Minus One now, despite never being actual Goji fans.
Where they even watching the film? This was an amazing showcase of how the Showa era was fun despite certain story aspects being off like why does jia need to be present for mothra to be reborn simple really to give the humans an objective to make their presence needed, I’ve spoken on this matter in a review on my channel, I’m just so happy this film is doing so well and I pray for more monsterverse goodness
Soulless? Are u kidding me did they not see suko?
Also daug stole kongs dinner hahaha legend!!!
I watch GXK when it first came out and for sure. its to good to be on big-screen ngl. 12/10 in my opinion
Bro the critics suck, this movie was so good! I was loving every bit of it, I wish the humans did have some better emotions but at the end of the day I'm here to see Kong fight a big monster with Godzilla! Go watch this movie now!!!!
Just saw it, and DAMN!
This is probably the best movie of all time! The amount of monster action and screen time is INSANE! Critics will never understand any of these movies. Why the hell focus on the people when there is such a great amount of character development with Godzilla, Kong, Suko, and even Shimo!
In my opinion, 1954/10
You aren't a real person 😂 best of all time
I loved it too it was the best movie ive ever watched
I agree. This one is my favorite out of the current Monsterverse movies.
@@che8626 that's their opinion buddy, some people want a fun godzilla movie than a serious one
@@SWY1356 and this is a public forum, buddy.
Ive seen almost every single Godzilla movie ever made.
I loved this one. It was a Kaiju flick through and through. I went into wanting to see cool set pieces and awesome monster action. And I got that in spades. Seeing Godzilla Rosé in action is bloody fantastic. King Kong and his new upgrade is cool and all but in the future i want him to get electric powers ( to Harken back to the original KvG.)
Minus one is a period piece drama featuring a giant monster.
This one was an action flick featuring giant monsters. Two different genres
I just watched it last night and thought it was absolutely amazing
Great story line
Great character connection and follow through with the other films
I can’t wait till it’s out on DVD
Only problem with the film is that they keep focusing on king and gets more screen time I really want Godzilla to get the respect he deserves and gets a background and story about godzilla
Facts I love Kong but the big G was always my favorite kaiju I watch these movies for him mainly
@@dillonjones8540fr
Kong's arc seems like it came full circle in this film so I'm hoping the next film focuses more on Godzilla. Maybe they could introduce Godzilla Jr. It would be a good way to humanize Godzilla and expand on his personality by giving him a kid to look after. It could also give us a solo Godzilla movie afterwards just focusing on them while Kong and Suko do their own thing.
@@stevebeshel9418And bring back Rodan with baby Godzilla. Rodan deserves his redemption arc.
@@NuNugirl Absolutely. Bringing in Jr would be the perfect way to bring Rodan back.
Who cares what the critics say? The movie isn’t meant to be some groundbreaking deep film like minus one, it’s supposed to be a good time. Which is succeeded in, that movie was lit
You realize you're using the Michael Bay defense when Transformers first came out, right? Thats what you sound like.
@@ThatSamoanGuy and…? Am I wrong?
@@ThatSamoanGuy Yes and? Transformers weren't good movies. They were still FREAKING FUN though!
@@ThatSamoanGuythere are different genres of movies for a reason. You want a soulful, emotional-connection type of movie, go watch one. There’s NO reason for people to expect that a movie titled “Godzilla x Kong” is gonna be anything but crazy, CGI and action packed.
If we can have a light hearted but action packed Spider-Man movie we can
If we can have a dark but immersive Spider-Man movie we can
If we can have a larger-than-life Spider-Man movie, yes we can
There's no denying that we can have different styles of movies and not everything has to be the next inception or batman begins, if we like it then its good but if we dont like it then its bad, simple as that, and you do not need to make your opinion a fact because it will just ruin the experience for others who havent seen it yet
I watched it last night and personally loved it. It was easily one of, if not the most insane monster movie I’ve ever seen. There’s not much more you could ask for in a kaiju film. Was it perfect, no. But it was a damn good time. Can’t wait to see it again!
Watched it earlier and all I can say is that I love it. The only thing that I felt at the end is that I was left craving for more. I agree with a commenter here when he said that it was "a little too fast paced". But I still love it and my inner child is left craving for more.
Thats what i said after, it was rushed and i loved it but wanted more and saw places where i was like “yeaa they could have done way more with this but they moved on”
Like the egypt fight and not establishing clear communication between titans, not showing is the ewe tribes exposition of what happened in the past from godzillas pov, not having kong and godzilla seemingly come to an agreement, or even giving us some dialogue and pov from shimo.
It was a good movie. But i can tell it could have been wicked if they said its gonna be 4 hours pack a lunch viewers
As Promised, alister, we have assembled and thus far 8M overnight and climbing! We begin the full on theater event...NOW!! Again i thank you all so much
This movie was so good
Ye xD
There were also Pacific Rim Easter Egg
I went to see the film with my little sister ( a tradition i started with King of the Monsters) and we had a blast. Focusing on the monsters instead of humans was a welcome change but i love that they kept the connection Mothra has to the Ewie tribe. 9/10 from me, it has aome flaws but it is one of the few movies i went out of my way to watch, which is more than i can say for most other films this year
I am a writer and I write about darkness and Vampires for they are my world, I also love Godzilla, and these sorts of stuff written by these critics are totally nonsense. I have some words to say these critics:
1- They love to see some real life drama, super sad things that would make them cry and they would walk out of the movie theater and began yapping, nonstop, how great the movie was, the more suffering they see a human being undergoes the more they like it.
2- In their infinitesimal minds they can't understand supernatural, imagineay characters can and do have their own soul and character to them anything that is not a slice of life is junk and they intentionally go and watch it to come utter bad thing about them, remember the critic from Birdman power of ignorance?
In the end, we Godzilla fans will always love Godzilla, we are the ones that create Fantasy stories, movies, and make them great... our world is far more beautiful than their small world, and that 93 percent cab testify on that... I have not watched it yet but I can say it is a wonderful movie and the fact you have given it 8 out of 10 shows how great this movie is.
I just hope in the end Godziall is safe for that is the red line for me :)
FEARSOME GODZILLA HAS EVOLVED🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥!!!!!!

Ask those critics to make a movie on their own and they'll probably sh*t their pants. These guys are like cheap food citics, don't even know how to make food beyond instant noodles but go on to criticize food made by actual chefs.
Film critics do just that: offer their opinion of the entertainment experience. To suggest that they should be able to make their own movie would be like suggesting a driver should know the ins and outs of an internal combustion engine before being allowed to drive a car.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but regarding Odie's review, apparently, Kong and Mini Kong are very expressive and convey emotions and communicate without words. Odie's review isn't just biased against the film, it's ignoring the acting the monsters did.
The way kong, baby kong built there relationships was great, i felt like i understood them communicating with each other without them talking, same with godzilla and mothra and the rest of the characters. It was freaking awesome, especially in 3d.
I saw the movie in 3D, and it showed the movie coming out of the screen feeling like it was in front of you to touch the monsters and watch them fly into your lap

I really liked it. Adam did a great job again. My only issue again was it's really a Kong movie with Big Z as an afterthought. It did make me like Kong even more, which is great. But If there is a 3rd movie it better be with Godzilla as the main story. I understand kong is more relatable but Godzilla had less screen time in this movie than all of his previous movies. Need the 3rd movie to be someone godzilla needs help with and recruits kong, shimo, and mothra to help him. I can think of 2 villians that can fit. One is from space, the other created when they used the oxygen destroyer weapon in King of the monsters
For not being so much of a Monsterverse fan, I actually really enjoyed it and thought it was pretty awesome. This is my favorite in the Monsterverse as it's like watching some of the Showa or even Heisei films brought to todays film technology.

Just watched the film and loved it! It's always funny to see critics tie themselves into knots over kaiju films not being Shakespeare. Hoping for the third film to be greenlit with a focus on Godzilla and Mothra.
These critics really walked into a movie titled Godzilla x Kong and expected a RomCom with 8 different characters who all fall in love with each other simultaneously.

Exactly. Not every movie needs deep story or unnecessary drama and this movie proves it.
Exactly
I went to see it this morning. It is a must, there are some amazing scenes.
I absolutely LOVED this movie. Watched it with my fiancée and had an absolute blast. The only thing I didn’t like was how fast paced the whole thing was, wish the film itself could have been a bit longer to maybe settle all that but I had fun nonetheless. I’m definitely rewatching this one multiple times haha!
