    You guys are my favorite gaming channel. No pretension, unfunny forced humor, or fake outrage. Just pure knowledge presented in a welcoming way.

      What does CRT mean?

    • @RaineRyanRudnick
      @RaineRyanRudnick 6 лет назад +11

      EasyMo Productions CRT is an acronym for Cathode Ray Tube! CRT TV's use the cathode ray tube to deflect electron beams to display an image on the screen!

      Couldn't agree more with you, my friend. While those are fine from time to time, it's always a breath of fresh air when you come across channels like My Life in Gaming. Their topics are straightforward and educational. But they are also fun, enjoyable and approachable. I always find myself coming back to this channel. Coury and Try really know their stuff. MLiG is my number one go-to channel for anything retro gaming, and I always recommend them to all my friends.

    This was thoroughly engaging to watch, especially since I just moved and am currently going through the whole process of setting up a new gaming room and recording area. Thanks for putting this together, I'll be taking a few ideas here!

      [Coury] I have to admit, while seeing your tweets about moving on twitter, I've been thinking about what you're going to be putting together in your new space. Do you have any plans to make a video on your new setup when its done?

    • @refraggedbean
      @refraggedbean 6 лет назад +2

      I am going through the same thing now, but it is more of me changing up my setup, I have 5 monitors just at my main desk alone (I have to monitor so much for the streams)

    I am completely drooling over Coury's setup. Especially compared to his old setup. I have never seen anything quite like it. People like to brag how their setups have top of the line cables for 4K Gaming, but he is the first one that has the setup that completely covers all grounds. Old and new, the way most of us here like it. I'd do anything to have a setup like his!

      [Try4ce] Maybe it's the reverse of what you'd expect, but I find that the older I get, the more and more narrow my interests become... so most things I do with my house have some sort of video game or RUclips-related reason behind it!

    Another great episode. I appreciate you guys taking the time to film, edit and share your setups and nostalgic memories. Corey, i totally felt the same way too. With almost 1000 games, 20+ consoles and being in my mid 30's sometimes I too felt embarrassed with my setup. However, I got over it pretty quickly as well. Keep on rocking guys!

  • @samuelbaugh4952
    @samuelbaugh4952 8 лет назад +13

    So beautiful. I LOVE older games, still play regularly on my ice blue N64 my brother got for christmas back in 2000. I love it when people actually ENJOY and USE retro games like you guys, instead of just hoarding boxes on a shelf, never to try like so many collectors or hipsters these days. So much work goes into maintaining these systems to ensure longevity and get the best performance out of them, I love how this channel dedicates so much into the scariest and most difficult process of retro gaming. Thanks!

      [Coury] I actually kinda fudge it. The song that I play is the SST Band version and isn't on the record. I just love the band version so much and it worked better with the reveal than the actual in game one.

    It's expensive to get it all setup correctly, but THE best Switchers for RGB signals are the Extron Matrix Switchers. I managed to get one off of eBay for $30 total. Sure, you have to go BNC, but for those with PVMs, you know the drill. :)

However soon I will get two PVM monitors, and I already own a consumer CRT and 4K LCD... I currently own about 12 consoles with a PC for current-gen gaming. Not that many games though, but I started getting these games and consoles last year... And I only want the good ones.

    So you have multiple TVs, computers, consoles and switchers hooked up... how do you manage all that power? I can't imagine EVERYTHING is always plugged in right?

      Robert Figueredo I’m right there with you buddy... I’ve run out even with 2 power strips and I have less than half of what they got which is at least:
      20 systems, tv, framemeister, 2 powered scart switches, hdmi switches, component switches, audio receiver, computer, etc...
      you got the million dollar question and I’d love to know the answer too!!

    4:06 "It's pretty important to make sure that [the switchers] are powered. This helps you avoid image degradation"
    I think that's a bit open to debate. Others have suggested using the exact opposite for just that purpose. ImplantGames Reviews, for example, opted for an unpowered component switcher by General Electric because he was worried about "electrical noise being added to the video signal". He reported no problems with it.

    Personally, I had a powered composite/S-video switcher and it kept glitching up when certain consoles were played with S-video. For component, I have an unpowered switcher by Philips. It has four shared composite/S-video inputs and three of those inputs support component. It handled every S-video console that I threw at it, and I'm currently using it for my PS2, PS3 and Xbox with component. I think it looks great. I haven't seen any noise.

      I'm looking for a good splitter with its own power source. My current one blows

      Jarrah White I used to have a powered HDMI switcher, I had no problems with it, except when I had my Wii U plugged in an on. I usually will play my Wii U on the gamepad and grind out stuff on my Xbox or something, and it would constantly make my switcher switch to the Wii U. Which I noticed either my Wii U or Wii Us in general have this weird on/off pattern with the signal through HDMI, even when hooked up to my Xbox One through the TV import I would constantly lose and regain the signal, only ever worked perfect connected directly to my tv haha, sorry this little tangent had nothing to do with your post really.

    I know you guys aren't specifically modders, but I wonder what experience you have with exchanging batteries in games that use them for SRAM backed save data? Do you pay people to do so or have you done so yourself?

    • @mylifeingaming
      @mylifeingaming  8 лет назад +2

      [Try4ce] Funny you should ask, because I would actually like to learn to do this and create a very simple "basic soldering" episode, with the ultimate goal being to learn to do something no more complicated than replacing batteries. I actually have never replaced any of my batteries, but I'm nervous about starting some of my RPGs before I do so.

    • @Nukle0n
      @Nukle0n 8 лет назад

      I've tried it to mixed success but the problem is that I can't find batteries with solder tabs here. If I could I'm sure that'd be a lot easier. I've also seen some modify their carts to have a battery holder instead of a soldered in battery but usually that really depends on a lot of things. It's also not like you have to swap the battery very often.
      I guess if you have flash carts you can just use those and leave the actual carts on the shelves, but I think you showed in an earlier episode how you liked the idea of using ips patches on actual cartridges so I assume for some people it'd still be most favorable to swap the battery in their old cart.

    • @mylifeingaming
      @mylifeingaming  8 лет назад

      [Try4ce] Well, in the case of using the IPS patches, the RetroN saves the games to the system instead of the cart. So the battery is moot in that case. But for stuff like Phantasy Star IV, which is already in English, I want to replace my battery before I start it.

    • @Pelladhros

      Battery holders tend to be better than pre-tabbed because you're not applying heat directly to the battery that shortens its life. You can also be picky about the coin battery brand and get one with a printed date of manufacture/expiration this way. Plus it only takes about ten seconds to replace it again in five to ten years. I can link you the holders you need. There does exist one low profile enough for game boy carts. Soldering is very simple and a good skill to have in general. The only risk really is screwing the cartridges back together improperly and stripping the threads.
