On the sound editing, a great tip for pc games. You can usually control the volume of music and sound effects independently. I often record my gameplay with the music off, then record the music separately and lay it back down over the video in the end. That way all your sound effects are in the right place, and your music is continuous despite all the edits.

Your dedication to the show is really inspiring!
Been a fan since I was around 10 or 11 years old. I'm now 17, and I even met this guy at this year's TooManyGames.
Nice. I met him about 2 years ago at RetroGameCon. Kyle was there too
Thank you for posting this James. Been watching AVGN for years and just now found this gem. Getting into production myself and this was more then informative and inspirational.
my good sir,
I really appreciate all of your good and hard work!
Almost watches your entire AVGN videos and I have to say:
Thank you very much 4 them/ that...!!!
Greetings from Germany

My favourite is his facial expressions to
I honestly wonder if James got the new Iron Maiden album
+pinkfloydfan123 I wonder the same thing.
+pinkfloydfan123 me too.
New Maiden album is bad ass, so I hope he got it!
Book of Souls is a great album, I'm loving it. He's also wearing a Judas Priest Angel of Retribution tshirt on in this video.
He did.
I think you should do more mini-episodes, this one actuallt turned out kinda interesting.
I’m just now finding this video from seven years ago but thanks so much for doing this! Also Iron Maiden is my favorite band, so that’s awesome that you have all those CDs
this is why i appreciate avgn soooo much all these years later compared to other reviewers
you put so much care and passion into what you’re doing
and even in some of your weaker videos, they’re still so well made
James you're such a organised person, truly an inspiration to all of us. Great video, highly appreciated!
Man, so much work goes into these. And you're very efficient with your record-keeping and everything.
That part when James was demonstrating how hard it is to come up with things to say, and was playing Barbie while struggling to be funny... that's what all of Mikes videos are like.
Hahahha thats too true
God yes. Mike's videos are fucking dull!
couldn't have said it better myself
Cody Briscoe bit harsh.
Fun fact: This is the same Barbie game that was briefly featured in the beginning of Episode 75 (Crazy Castle episode).
Youve forgotten about one step and that one step is... BEING ANGRY!
Dude he acts angery
jesse salyers That's disappointing.
That's his secret David,he's always angry
Linkin Parking Lot nice Avengers reference
LIKE THE HALUK
To think he puts so much time and effort into these videos and only gets half the view count some of those awful Let's players have on youtube.
"music is the only thing that keeps me sane" i know right? :) cheers from finland!!
Me too :)
Coder here, that statement is my whole life.
I Love when James talk about the Nerd as a Character.
How did this come out two years ago already? Does anyone else gauge time by looking at old AVGN videos and say "Damn, that was 7 years ago."
Ya think he should do a full review of Barbie NES?
The short episode is good enough.
***** yeah I guess your right.
Trainboy7 WHY ARE YOU TRAINS FOLLOWING ME!?!?
***** OH, OH I WANT TO BE A TRAIN TOOOO! (Facepalm)
also I didn't know you watched avgn
Who down votes these videos? I mean what is it you don't like? You are not a fan of his process?? It makes no sense.
Its just stupid haters.
+Classysaia Search for a relaxation video that's nothing but footage of ocean waves hitting the beach and people still give it a down vote. Do they hate the ocean? Who the fuck knows.
There are some people out there that actually think he's seriously his nerd character and they've decided they hate him, so they go around downvoting all of his videos.
Mostly preteen children thinking they're the next dr. Evil for disliking every video they encounter.
Well, honstly his acting is extremely bad...... which is why I enjoyed NC alot moe, so pople downvote before they see an episode, it's labeled anumbered so....
I'm still watching! I roll through the AVGN videos every now and then, while working on projects. Still love every one of them!
On the sound editing, a great tip for pc games. You can usually control the volume of music and sound effects independently. I often record my gameplay with the music off, then record the music separately and lay it back down over the video in the end. That way all your sound effects are in the right place, and your music is continuous despite all the edits.
+GamerGramps Unfortunately almost all older console games are not like that :l
i would not like let's play videos like that.
wariolandgoldpiramid Agreed. Context is game reviews though, not LP's.
GamerGramps well, that is a good thing then :)
Too bad 1% of james videos are pc games.
This video is pure fan service, thanks James it's really interesting to me!
@Cinemassacre This really needs a 2021 update to compare it with.
I’m amazed at how much work James puts into the Nerd. What a great behind the scenes video.
Love your way of recording stuff. You're so well organized.
"Playing a game is sitting on the couch and have a controller in my hands, this is it, I'm playing a game"
Old school gamer confirmed.
To be fair, PC gaming was around back then too. Kind of.
I always come back to this video when I want to get inspired and get motivated.
I know this video is old but, thank you James. It gives us all some reference to how talented you are and how hard you work. Thanks a lot!
iron maiden is the perfect music to get things done, I've listened to all them albums a million times
....Yyyeah, you deserve the subs you get man..even more, for all this work you put in!
Show this to anyone who says James doesn’t put any effort into his videos.
People actually say that?
I think people say that to his thumbnails
@@jlstv5059 : Well, now they can't even say that since he's added new thumbnails to all his older videos (such as this one).
This guy is amazing. He is so meticulous in the way he organizes, and saves everything. His game/movie collection is just as amazing as his collection of his own video footage from his life.
Daaaaamn, along with the gaming collection, just imagine the huge amount of money James's spent to get all that tech gear! O.O Much respect, you gotta have a massive passion for something to have the balls to spend that much cash on it and to take time to create wonderful videos and movies to entertain people.
A lot of the gaming things are donated, so money can be put aside for the technical equipment :>
***** True, but still, the majority of games and consoles came out of his pocket, great respect for James, not only for that, but for everything he does for him and for us.
Wait when he dies who tips gonna have the room for all this stuff like if the guy who got them hated games ££££
plitas
He is really into filmmaking to be fair , so this is not just for us , like you said though , that collection really had to take some time to build , though.
WOW! A lot of work goes into these videos, respect to you Angry Video Game Nerd! Keep up the good work.
Now for the Making of the Making of an AVGN episode.
And then the making of the making of the making of an AVGN episode?
@@vendetta2525_ and then the making of the making of the making of the making of the making of video
Lol (OH NO I BROKE THE CHAIN AAAA)
What I admire about this is that there's obviously some love there, not only for the video games but for the productions. So many opportunities do you have to sort of "cheap out", do things the easy way or sacrifice production techniques, but you don't! I'm a music dude, studying audio for foley and film projects and I can only dream of having the organization that you do as a filmmaker. Congrats dude!
thank you sexy
