The structure of the video is really refreshing and the follow along approach while you discover retro gadgets the first time was really helpful to understand how everything works together. I think this is a great tutorial format.
Also since the game is early access I can imagine as some dev of the game it could be super useful feedback to watch your steps and thoughts while doing so.

i literally know nothing about coding or how to do it in the slightest but this whole channel makes me wanna try. and i think it'd be cool to make my own retro gadget
I have a couple videos on my channel teaching code for beginners (Learn to Program for Playdate Game Dev). Teaches Lua, which is the same language that Retro Gadgets uses, so maybe you could check it out.

The lamp has a handle on it. Does that mean you can grab that handle and move the lamp around so that you can move it over your projects for better light in the game?

I want to get back to it eventually, but it probably won't be for a while. And yeah the latest build is on Patreon.
@@SquidGodDev i have a video idea for you, you could take the playdate simulator on pc and make a playdate emulator for mobile in the form of a apk

@@SquidGodDev unity has a android sdk if that helps
@@BloodyDeadCat Haha unfortunately that doesn't help. The technical challenge is not getting it onto the mobile device, but rather having to write your own emulation software for the Playdate. Simulator is closed source, so you can't just copy paste it. Even if you could, there's probably tons of challenges with running it on a different platform.

Sure. I have two videos on my channel that can help with that. Learn to Program for Playdate Game Dev part 1 and 2. The title is a bit misleading - it teaches Lua in general, not just Playdate development, which is the language used in Retro Gadgets.
