    The crabs have an innate migration path that they have taken throughout their history. Starting out in the Road of Sacrifices and moving down to the Smoldering Lake as they mature. Of course you need the 2 large crabs to stay in the Road of Sacrifices to breed and continue their species. Large crabs can also be found in the swamp of Farron Keep because the path that been blocked until the undead extinguished the flames and reopened the route down through the catacombs. One of the crabs making the migration unfortunately was caught up in the ball because of the undead 's presence. There is further evidence of this because there are only large crabs found in the Smoldering Lake due to the path being shut for some time now.

    It was already pretty clear the dark firelink was happening in the past, though. Not only is it riddled with Black knights from the age of the gods, you also fight Gundyr in his prime to gain entrance. His "tutorial version" is already obviously an aged, corrupted and rusty Gundyr.
    I think the fire keeper turns away from you while wearing an untrue ring because she senses you are hiding something. It might be fear, or it might simply be that you are making her uncomfortable - but she can tell you are likely shying away from your duty of relinking the fire by having access to these items, as well as you most likely having quite dark intentions by hiding your true self.

      That's what I like about him, he is a mid-boss for Aldrich, without any cutscene or dialogue, he looks forgettable, and after you have beaten him, you realise slowly how important he was, while Artorias as an entire DLC about how he was only able to kill 1 bloathead. I think that in Dark Souls, the most importants characters are usually hidden, while they shove less important characters in your face.
      Anor Londo is a good exemple : the guy who manipulate you during the entire damn level is hidden behind an invisible wall and you never hear about him, while they show you a gigantic Gwynevere with dialogues, even though she actually doesn't do anything.

    I know that i'm late, but just wanted to say that, about every unkindled being linked to a Lord of Cinder. Siegward to Yhorm, Anri to Aldrich and Hawkwood to The Abyss Watchers. So, they all have like, deeper relationships, Hawkwood was an Abyss Watcher, Siegward and Yhorm were good enough friends for Yhorm to give Suegward a sword that could kill Jim, and Anri had set out on a mission to defeat Aldrich for the hidden of her villiage. And, because of this, I believe that there may have been a deeper connection between the Twin Princes and the Unkindled. Anyways, here goes...
    So, in the game, there are there main 'pillars' that people set their beliefs in. The Priestess - Whose role is filled by Emma, The Sorcerer - Who are the people with candle heads in the Grand Archives. And the knight - outsider knight's mabye (If not, then a LOT of other people fill this role). However, there's also a secret 4th pillar, named The Thief (Sorry, I haven't plays in a while, so thag name may be a bit off, but you get the jist.), whose roles is filled by - we'll get to that in a minute. So, near the beginning of the game, we meet an NPC named 'Black Hand Gotthard', as a phantom outside Farron Keep. From the thief ring's description, we KNOW that the black hands were held so secretively and were so powerful, that there were only ever 3 - Gotthard being one. As far as I know, the only other fight Gotthard appears outside of is the Pontiff's.
    Next, we come to the second black hand member (I'm really sorry, but I can't remember his name, if anyone knows the guy who I'm talking about, could you tell me please?). He appears outside the Grand Archives and before the Twin Prince's boss fight. He attacks us instantly (I'll explain this in a second), and may seem unfamiliar to you, HOWEVER, he CAN be summoned for the Vordt boss fight (And only that one) So, that's 2 of the 3 Black Hand members, and that's all we know about them.
    Well, I propose a theory. We know that the King's Black Hands live to protect Lothric, and help us throughout the game. However, once we kill Emma or she dies naturally, the second black hand becomes hostile. This is because all Emma and the Dancer are guarding are the Princes, and so, seeing hostility towards them, the second black hand becomes aggressive. The next time we see a black hand is outside the main door to the Grand Archives. This is the body of Gotthard, holding the key for the Archives. He came here to help us, knowing that the flame needed to be linked, and was ambushed by the other hand, who killed him. He waits us above the grand archives, along with 2 other NPC's. He attacks us here, and is killed. So, I believe that....
    The relation between the player and the princes is that the player WAS the 3rd black hand member, and was human, but he died and lost his memory and status, becoming unkindled. That's why Lothric realises who we are during the boss fight.
    Anyways, thats my theory, give your thoughts down below!

      Thetia the awesome thing is, is that you are pretty much spot on with this. Its not explicitly stated but yes it is inferred that you play as the third Black Hand set out to link the fire. And yes the black hands were the protectors of lothric and you going around killing all the lords is why the 2nd one is hostile towards you.

He was a sorcerer poking around the Profaned Capital where he found the Profaned Flame, then took over Irithyll, locking up Gwyndolin (whom he eventually fed to Aldrich) and Yorshka. Heck, it's entirely possible that the two of them didn't even meet until Aldrich came to Irithyll (with Archdeacon McDonnell in tow) and made an alliance there.

    Little to do with the video, but it has been knocking around me head for a while so:
    The world we explore in Dark Souls 3 isn't actually the real world, but a pocket dimension created by the dying FIre in a last ditch effort to prevent the coming of the Dark. I think that what we see is the Fire creating a last bubble of reality where space and time kinda work, but are not perfect and then resurrected some of the people who previously Kindled it, in hope of reseting the cycle. Mind when I say the Fire, what I mean is the Soul of Cinder, a consciousness born of all the people sacrificed to the fire and existing solely to prolong the cycle. Thats why the geography and timeliness don't make any sense. Thats why the Firelink Shrine is nothing but a illusion, a fake masking the Kiln of the First Flame. Giving the Firekeeper her eyes allows her to see through the illusion and see the truth about the world. I think that the Soul of Cinder couldn't bring back the Lords of Cinder without also drawing their seats of power to converge around it. I think that this is what the pilgrims are, people fleeing the rest of the world, as it slowly unravel making their way toward Lothric, the land that is least ravaged by the unraveling. As he summoned each Lord the Soul of Cinder also summoned the corresponding Unkindled.

  • @ArtekGeneral
    @ArtekGeneral 8 лет назад +69

    Do you remember 3 NPCs that you fight while coming for Lothric? The knight, the hunter and the mage girl?
    Well here's the thing: you can meet all of them in the game except for the hunter.
    The axe-knight can be summoned for Vordt fight. His name is Lion Knight Albert or something like that. You can't summon him though if you'll murder the old lady and trigger the Dancer.
    The girl invades you in dark firelink shrine, in the place where the very 1st bonfire you encounter should be.
    But you never meet the hunter... You meet his companion - Gothard, with his legendary dual swords.
    But this one is different, this one uses dual katanas that he made himself and he's the only who you never meet anywhere else.
    I also love how they represent the 4 pillars: knights, hunters and scholars. But not priests... Who Lothric kingdom hated ever after the angel accident.
    Also: Sirris and that mage guy... always forget his name. They are both can be summoned for Lothric bossfight, so it's not ours respective lord of cinder, but theirs.
    Also i could never understand why Sirris looks like such a good person, yet she's the one from "sunless realms" where linking of the fire is not welcome. Maybe translation mistake or am i just this stupid? Still love her though.

    When you think about it, hexes aka DARK magic, draw on the power of INT and FTH. Considering you have to be strong in both stats, it shows you that you are strong as an undead/unkindled (human) who has taken in countless souls to become strong in all forms of magic. My point is that since you are a powerful "human", and Dark stems from Humanity, then it's not wrong to say hexes and Dark miracles are the true soul magic, as it comes from the Darkness of humanity and their soula. Ironic that Sorceries are called soul magic when "Dark magic" is truly from your soul.

    Man, I love Pontiff Sullyvahn. He's such a scumbag, even by Souls standards.
    Take the Dancer, for example. First she was his personal dancer, and then an outrider knight -- strange combination of jobs, right? But she's never far from Vordt. Seems like what happened is that, while she was Sullyvahn's personal entertainment, she might have fallen in love and had dalliances with someone beneath the Pontiff. So what did the Pontiff do when he discovered her infidelity? Why, he made the both of them Outrider Knights -- a fate worse than death, dooming both of them to become mindless beasts. He probably 'married' the two of them, using the Outrider Knight rings as their wedding bands.
    That's my interpretation, at least.

    Speaking of secret number 5, I just fired up the game recently and I think I found something that I haven't seen anyone mention yet so I will throw it out there (apologies if it's already been discovered). When I went to fight the Deacons of the Deep and I summoned Anri and Horace, I was decked out in full dark wraith gear from head to toe including dark hand and dark sword. When they both saw me they wouldn't face me. Not just turned posture like the firekeeper but actively moved to not face me. They still fought with me but I thought that was a neat little touch. Let me know if it's already old news but as I said, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

    So... ON the part of siegward connecting to Yhorm, anri to aldrich, and hawkwood to the legion... In front of the grand archives there lies a body. Which I presume is Black hand Gotthard. Which was one of the three selected black hands. Wasn't he connected to the Prince, but failed to uphold his task?

      @viniciuspimenta5399 7 лет назад +29

      Bart Goorden My theory is that your character used to be a Black Hand, but got "kicked out" of the Order. It actually makes sense: The Black Hands serve the Lothric Bloodline. Lothric and Lorian betrayed everyone when declaring that they'd not become Lords of Cinder. You, being a servant of theirs and also a devote to the flame, thought of that as an absurd and challenged the Princes. This, of course was seen as an action of betrayal, and then you got kicked out because of it. While that, the other two Black Hands took their own actions: Gottard, being a close friend to you, didn't take sides. As for the other one (which I forgot the name), being extremely loyal to the Princes and the Bloodline, took their side and occasionally murdered Gottard for helping you afterwards and tried to murder you.

    • @viniciuspimenta5399

    Who turned the light back on in Anor londo?

    • @verdurousvegan7437
      @verdurousvegan7437 8 лет назад +41

      Canonically, the PC never killed Gwyndolin, so I guess he's just been chilling there for the past few eons maintaining the illusion. In DS1 the illusion of Gwynevere/light Anor Londo doesn't disappear even after you've killed him, which would explain why the light's still on even though Gwyndolin was devoured by Aldritch.

    • @invisibleBOBsayz
      @invisibleBOBsayz 8 лет назад +21

      If you look up at certain points you can see the night sky beaming through. It's possible they are going after the notion that you did not uncover the secret in ds1 and kill Gwendolyn, or the possibility that after Aldrich devoured him , Aldrich used his power to bring back the illusion. He has so many qualities of the god after devouring him it makes me wonder if part of him wanted the illusion to remain.

    The revelation of Sulyvahn as the first Scholar of Lothric then gives us a clearer timeline of the progression of the Lords of Cinder, and the order in which they linked the flame. Ultimately it seems as if the timeline looks something like this.
    Yhorm Calls Down the Profane Flame -> Sulyvahn is First Scholar of Lothric -> Lothric and Lorian Link the Fire -> Sulyvahn Finds the Profane Flame -> Sulyvahn Takes Over Irithyll -> Irithyll is corrupted by the Deep and concurrently the Abyss
    This implies that, should the Abyss Watchers still exist, that Irithyll is then purged by them, and then they are the most recent lords of cinder.
    Additionally Aldritch's softening into sludge and his being burnt as a Lord of Cinder then likely occur around Sulyvahn's discovery.
    This likely makes the timeline of incineration.
    Yhorm -> Lothric/Lorian -> Aldritch -> Abyss Watchers.

      I thought the premise of the game was that Lothric was supposed to link the fire as it's fading this time but didn't, causing the previous lords to revive to perform the duty again which they (for some reason or other) turned down as well and left for their homes to fulfill their own goals:
      Abyss Watchers fighting the Abyss (themselves, since fighting the Abyss extensively corrupts you and it may have started to show)
      Aldrich devouring gods to make the World into a Deep-sea thing of Dreams (or something?)
      And Yhorm to... what? Wallow in self-pity?

      In fact, this piece of dialogue suggests Ludleth was the one who bested Gundyr and linked the flame at that time.
      Also, the fact that you find the Eyes where Irina used to hang seems pretty suggestive. Now, I don't know about the stigma of being a firekeeper in the souls universe (if it is something praised, hated or ignored) but Irina's ashes state that she became a saint and then a great betrayal occured, and as she is blind and apparently being consumed by darkness (the little creatures), I don't believe it's a far-fetched idea that Irina somehow used the eyes, saw the horror that the Firekeeper mentions and had them removed somehow, but not forgetting the visions.

      @swamdono 7 лет назад +3

      Seems unusual that the eyes are some kind of tool that aren't meant to be used. What would be the point of them? I always thought of them as her own eyes. Maybe Irina attempted to end the rekindling or foresaw it (The betrayal) and Ludleth removed her eyes "We did all we could to spare her from them", and that was the reason why Firekeepers were required to be blind from then on.

    That one little crab in the Catacombs of Carthus is perhaps the biggest mystery in the entire Dark Souls mythos. 🤣

      I hope we go after Allfather Lloyd in one, and Velka in the next
      Two most missing yet, from a lore point of view, most relevant characters
      One possibly responsible for creating the Undead curse (according to Hawkshaw), the other punishing all for their sins.

    You know, Sirris' reference to her grandmother reminded me of what that undead conglomerate said about a grandmother (or "nana" as he put it) disappearing, and then referencing a grandson who carries a cage that he throws down into the pit. I know there isn't really any connection, since he said the nana disappears, likely into the pit, but Sirris is clearly giving her grandmother a farewell, and going into the pit, and it wouldn't make sense for her to say goodbye to someone if she was going to where they were. But I still thought it was interesting that there have been multiple references to grandparents and grandchildren in regards to the pit of hollows. I'm probably reading way too much into it, but still, I thought it worth sharing.

    The fire keeper also turns around if you dunked your head on wax and then returned to the shrine while your head is in wax.

    1:48 , i don't think the dark shrine is in the past, i think is more likely in the future , (andre's hammer, The handmaiden mentions the firekeeper and luleth is no longer there , even knowing that he is the only lord that never abandoned the shrine

    my friend told me this and it makes sense in the story of dark souls.
    He said that the nameless King real name could be Sen because of Sen's Fortress in Dark Souls 1, and Richard is there (probably the nameless kings son) and it is fall of snake men like in dragon peak and it just makes complete sense.

    Why would the firekeeper turn away from you in disgust as if to not bear to look at you, even though she is blind? why would a blind woman turn from you in disgust if she cant see? are you really THAT detestable?

      The whole area is based off Anatolia and basically turkey. The place below the nameless king fight is basically hagia Sophia or any other Byzantine-Turk place of worship. And turkey once upon a Time did use Arabic so, first of all, fucking amazing detail, second it also means that although script is Arabic, meanings must be derived from Turkish respect and then appropriated for ds3.
