Of course not when you can't get 60 frames even on high and you can't say that the game is running well because of the shading problem, that's why even though Denovo's lock is set and it doesn't even have good sales and its huge volume makes many people stop buying and downloading the game. Just take a look at a game like space marian 2 or wukong to understand what I mean. The first has sold more than 300,000 copies even though it has been cracked, and the second one has Denovo, but it has good sales on Steam, and Denovo's lock has a special effect. It doesn't have a game and it's interesting that it didn't sell much on ps5 Just because the port is not perfect, less than 5000000 have been sold on ps5, and PC to LAN has only 22 thousand players in steam. In my opinion, there is no need for Denovo's lock, as long as the game is perfect, the game will sell well. For example Ghost of thoisma have 100000 player on day one in steam and horizon forbidden west have 63000 player on day on in steam

Huh that's strange for me it was the exact opposite. The demo was a stuttering mess on everything from a Steam Deck to my 4090 PC. Now the retail version seems to be much better on stutters there's almost no stutter now just has some odd frame times on a few of my systems.

Can we have a Nixxes in Square Enix? Lord almighty. What surprises me is people saying that the game going from 60 to 30fps on their does not cause stutter. People don't even understand what a stutter means.
Dynamic resolution is totally broken, always makes the game look like a watercolor painting or super blurry. It's weird because the demo looked and ran better.
Dude have you played any Final Fantasy game on PC as almost every Final Fantasy game released there that was not 2D was a stutter party from Final Fantasy 13 and its sequels to Final Fantasy 7 Remake what makes it sadder is that Square Enix would just leave them broken like that with no intention of ever fixing them its pretty much a tradition at this point that a PC release would be a stutter party.
I have zero stutter with an RTX 4080 and i5-12600K. Locked at my refresh rate of 75hz. I do use DLSS quality at 1440p, with a 60fps cutscene mod. It looks and runs awesome!

It stutters on a 4090 as well and that thing can brute force just about everything. This doesn't have to do with the GPU at all. It's just Denuvo or bad optimization.
I mean for ports from Square and co it comes to no surprise. Game was a PS exclusive and got now ported = It's performance will be absolutely horrible. I can count on one hand the amount of games where the port wasnt hot garbage performance wise.
Hey Alex, how are you getting that performance display on the left at 1:30 on? I seem to have an Nvidia overlay but I cannot find this one. It looks like the one on Steam Deck and I want it for my PC. Thanks!
I was having a good time with the game until I got to eastpools. That area is a complete stutter mess. Also I was getting around 80-100 fps before this area. After about 5 mins exploring this area the fps would jump up and down a lot. From as low as 15fps back 100. For some reason this one enemy causes the game to run extremely slow and unplayable.
I have a 4070 ti super with a 5800x3d at 1440p, frame gen and DLSS quality on. And I was wondering why the game can get only around 80 FPS max. The DRM needs to be removed and their needs to be more optimization because this game should be running 120 plus for the hardware I have, not to mention is it just me or does DLSS frame gen not work ? It seems broke and doesn’t really feel like a performance gain.
Thanks for the review of the PC port. It's really sad to see the industry shipping games with FSR/DLSS turned on by default. They really have stopped giving a crap about performances and optimisation.
I loved FF16 when I played it, flaws and all. And I'm glad its on more platforms, hopefully it comes to Xbox in the future, so more people can play. So, it is disappointing that the port itself isn't that great, but I do hope they work on it with patches. Hell, the game is having more issues due to the recent PS5 firmware update. Just all around, hope these issues are fixed because I do genuinely love this game and I wish for more people to play it and enjoy it.
I didn't notice anything until Cid turned into his Eikon, over this Cid as his Eikon, but then a stuttering, screen bleeding cid, still standing next to Clive. 2 places at once.
I don't know, I'm playing it locked at 100 FPS with everything on ultra with no problems. I was thinking this is one of the best ports I've seen how smooth it is. Other then this one bug where fire is appearing black at times.
i can't even get passed the opening scene i checked to make sure my computer could run it 3080 set it could but crashes as soon as Ifrit tackles pheonix and it just freezes i already refunded it
I haven't noticed any stuttering on my system. My only complaint is the graphics look a little flat. I also own the PS5 version and the PC graphics are just slightly better. The best part of the PC version is the boosted frame rate other than that I felt like they held the game back on PC so that it didn't make the console version look bad.
As much as I love this game, this port deserves to do horribly and I genuinely hope it does. This was a year of Yoshi-P lying out of his ass and delivering an absolutely mediocre product. This and VII Rebirth not meeting expectations is their own fault. Nihon Falcom is delivering better games with better ports with a significantly smaller team. Do better.
to be fair, the falcom PC ports are only good because when NIS ported YS VIII themselves, it was so bad they had to hire a team to rebuild that version from the ground up. They re-hired PH3 because they had worked on previous flacom games before. PH3, as much as i hate to admit it, are an exception. The only reason why NIS still works with them, is because if they mess up again, they could lose the localization rights. And NIS pretty much only scrapes by because their localized falcom ports sell well. I would really love for PH3 to work on more PC ports. It should be noted that the asian pc ports are done by clouded leopard...... their YS X pc port was delisted more than 6 months ago due to how bad it was. people were getting 30fps on a 4080
Was trying the demo on my handheld rog ally x, 900p fsr3 and medium settings, the framerate is smooth and good, but it micro freeze every couple seconds...

I think the games fun but I will agree it was a stirring mess till I modded it with a fix the problem with the game is the frame rate cap is locked at 30 fps that's in cutscenes as well which can't handle to pixels on screen but with the ff16 mod fix it raises the cap to a smooth 60 maybe 120 depending on your pc that and it allows for frame rate generation in cutscenes making the strutting stop it dose it very little now and improves the game by alot also allows you to center Clive in the middle of the screen insted of having him on the left and allows for a better pov for walking around and lock on combat that can adjust to how you want it but yea games really good and fun you just need to mod it to enjoy it

Bro you can't play 3060 in 1080 high on 60 fps and you say there is no performance problem
Game is pretty demanding though PS5 could really only do 30fps and 3060 is a mid tier gpu.
@@odinomniscient7674 Where in my post did I say there are no performance problems? I only said that I did not have any performance problems. Personally I am getting in the range of 90-110fps in the more demanding scenes and upwards of 140-160fps in the less demanding scenes on my setup @ 3440x1440 21:9 with all settings maxed...aside from motion blur which I always disable because I don't like it (except in racing games).
That said, I also have a ridiculous gaming PC.
For example
Ghost of thoisma have 100000 player on day one in steam and horizon forbidden west have 63000 player on day on in steam
@@odinomniscient7674 I literally said "Not surprised that folks are having performance issues".
Before that I only stated that I have had no performance issues...which is true...because my PC is a beast.
Square Enix is too busy censoring Dragon Quest. they even removed the gender from the protagonist. cut them some slack, will ya.
Which was their last succesful game again? i cant remember anymore after so many flops
"censoring" & it's just minimal changes that have existed in games forever & affect no one😭
@@iori3325 except that the japanese fans are outraged about the changes. and DQ is very important to japanese gamers. What i like with japan, is if they don't like something, they don't buy it, especially if it disrespects a legacy.
I have a feeling Denovo is behind the stutter 🤨
I barely get 30-40 frames for 30 minutes before things tank down to 10 - 12 frames and even lower into single digits. I have a 4060, Ryzen 7 5800X, 64BG of ram, and it's installed into a M.2.
The problem with Japanese game is they never fix the game after they were released. 😢
Yup look at Elden ring
falcom games usually get bug fixes post launch on PC though. there isn't a single YS or trails of that didn't get improvements post launch. Although, the studio behind the ports, PH3, is an exception unfrotunately
@@Motion_God To be fair they did fixed some of the stutter issues but it took a while. Other stuff like ultrawide or FOV you have to use a mod which means playing offline.
This is one of the titles I was looking forward to playing once I upgraded my system. It'll probably be too much to hope they work the kinks out and/or remove the DRM by the holidays, but fingers crossed.
The demo version ran smoothly on my PC. I was actually impressed, Square Enix is usually really bad with their PC ports. Well... It seems they didn't release a good PC port after all.
trueeeeeeeee the demo was so gooooooooood
Huh that's strange for me it was the exact opposite. The demo was a stuttering mess on everything from a Steam Deck to my 4090 PC.
Now the retail version seems to be much better on stutters there's almost no stutter now just has some odd frame times on a few of my systems.
@@XxViciousxX the retail version stutters, good thing the FSR frame generation makes the frames better, but there are still some microstutters, running on a 3060ti + r7 1700, @ 1080p,
Yeap I just requested on a refund
So far I am 8 hours into the game, I had one large stutter at the start when Phoenix and Ifrit are crashing through the rocks. But other than that I have had no problems on my side. Now it might just be my tired eyes not registering the framerate but I cannot say I have had any problems. I run everything on high except shadows which is in mid.
I have the mod fix downloaded and have tried every setting combination under the sun that was suggested for it and the game still shits itself. Every other game I have plays perfectly fine though. So I'm at a loss and it's very frustrating.
Can we have a Nixxes in Square Enix? Lord almighty. What surprises me is people saying that the game going from 60 to 30fps on their does not cause stutter. People don't even understand what a stutter means.
ah yes denuvo and dynamic resolution scalling not working right ruining another square pc port
Denuvo can work. My guess? If the developer does a bad job to integrate it into the game, the perfomance will suffer from it.
Remember the Deus Ex (HR and MD) PC ports? that was all Nixxes.
I have an RTX 4070 and the game is running relatively smoothly for me at 4K with DLSS. It would be well over 100fps at 1080p or 1440p.
I have zero stutter with an RTX 4080 and i5-12600K. Locked at my refresh rate of 75hz. I do use DLSS quality at 1440p, with a 60fps cutscene mod. It looks and runs awesome!
I was doing good with my 5800x3d/3080ti rig natively at 1440p wirh the cs fix. However, when i got to the forest section. I just couldn't get to 60fps natively. Tried adjusting some settings but in the end I ended up having to use fsr3 quality with frame gen on.
I have a 6900xt and can get up to around 90 in big areas but then it'll just drop down to 30 or worse so frame times are really bad for me.
A pc game stuttering and missing basic features..... never heard of such a thing
Upscaling being a crutch again
Gaming in 2024: wait a year and get it on sale. Literally every game I've bought I've refunded because lack of content or polish, or both. And i have a 4070s. Insane these devs expect everyone to have a 4090 and a 7800x3d.
I can count on one hand the amount of games where the port wasnt hot garbage performance wise.
well shit the algorithm finally showed me one his PC port reviews
Hey Alex, how are you getting that performance display on the left at 1:30 on? I seem to have an Nvidia overlay but I cannot find this one. It looks like the one on Steam Deck and I want it for my PC. Thanks!
Rtx 4090 and 7950x3d and the game still stutters. What a fucking mess.
It seems broke and doesn’t really feel like a performance gain.
lol I have 12400f and 4070ti and getting well over 100 fps at 1600p.
tbh ff15 and ff7remake looked better thn this. yet I could get over 120 on those
For the chart on the left what benchmark application is that?
Thanks for the review of the PC port.
It's really sad to see the industry shipping games with FSR/DLSS turned on by default. They really have stopped giving a crap about performances and optimisation.
Who needs digital foundry when we got Alex, 😊
2 places at once.
same lmao
Love that top right graphic showing frame time and gpu busy. Love that visual.
I don't know, I'm playing it locked at 100 FPS with everything on ultra with no problems. I was thinking this is one of the best ports I've seen how smooth it is. Other then this one bug where fire is appearing black at times.
Ff16 had issues on ps5 has issues on pc and will have issues on Xbox the game just has issues all round
It runs smooth as fuck 120 fps in 4k on my ryzen 7 7800x3d, 4080 super. Doing a fullplaythrough currently on my channel.
@@PCgamerChannel give us a heads up if you do have any issues
@@PCgamerChannel cap
@@PCgamerChannelyeah that’s absolutely cap. i have a 7800x3d with a 4080 super. This game does NOT hit 120fps on 4k.
i can't even get passed the opening scene i checked to make sure my computer could run it 3080 set it could but crashes as soon as Ifrit tackles pheonix and it just freezes i already refunded it
I haven't noticed any stuttering on my system. My only complaint is the graphics look a little flat. I also own the PS5 version and the PC graphics are just slightly better. The best part of the PC version is the boosted frame rate other than that I felt like they held the game back on PC so that it didn't make the console version look bad.
Looks like Denuvo + dynamic resolution scaling problems like FF7R... This is disappointing.
It should be noted that the asian pc ports are done by clouded leopard...... their YS X pc port was delisted more than 6 months ago due to how bad it was. people were getting 30fps on a 4080
The demo was a hot turd, can't say I'm surprised.
Honestly though, finished it on PS5. You aren't missing much, wait for a deep sale imo.
Was trying the demo on my handheld rog ally x, 900p fsr3 and medium settings, the framerate is smooth and good, but it micro freeze every couple seconds...
DENUVO IS CAUSING THE PERFORMANCE DROPS DUH. And u need to download that FFXVIFIX Mod bro! U uncapps the fps on cutscenes, removes the stutter and ultrawide support for the losers who use that shit monitor.
Denubo was just removed from Jedi Survivor and everyone got 20-40fps boost what a shocker
16:9 peasant detected lol. It's okay son, one day you'll lose your ultra wide virginity and become a real PC gamer.
*Deadnuvo.
The fact this game is 150 gb, we really need dev reconsider, not everyone have the latest model or set up, so less customer to make money.
SE is kinda the worst , going for super detail over gameplay , and the thing i bet FF 7 Rebirth be 200 gb and a mess how was Remake to
so should we wait for a performance patch before start playing it?
I have been looking forward to this game for a long while now. Good shit.
I'll be playing this at 4K Ultra myself. I'm not worried about the framerate since I can't differentiate between them. (All framerates look the same to me.) So *MAX SETTINGS* it is!! 😂😂
all frame rates look the same? U alright brotha?! 😭
@@floki5182
Yeah, man. All the same to me.
The only time I can see the difference is when I am watching at something a 2x speed. For example, when Digital Foundry is showing two or more captures side-by-side, and each is running a different framerate, I can see the differences then because I watch their videos at 2x speed. The jutter stands out perfectly. But when I watch that same video at regular speed? Or game at regular speed? Nope. Not a bit of difference for me.
This was the game I got to 'break in' my new PC and it's sad to see that it is needing further optimization. I really enjoyed it on PS5 so I will just go through the backlog until it's patched.
I got everything maxed out, and 4k 60, 58 free stink on, also tried 1440p maxed 90-114freestink, never one stutter,
Try using a virtual memory set to min/max 108000 each on a separate partition on a different drive
On top of that I never get stuttering with this setup, 11900k 2080ti
These new GPU with the doshi memory bit size should be returned
I went to 1440p and tweaked some settings, it wasn't too bad. I capped to 60fps though.
What a shitshow of a PC port. As expected from Square Enix 🤣
Better hope square doesn’t abandon the pc port like they did the ps5 version…
they will. square never fixes anything on pc. nier automata is still unoptimized years after its launch, and nier replicant, a PS3 remaster, is in a sorry state as well and was never patched
Ah so it isn't entirely my PCs fault. i play on low to mid graphics capped at 60fps since i personally cant see that big of a difference between 60 and 60+. about 20% of the gameplay was smooth 60fps 60% was about 40-50 and dear lord some encounters and sadly enough one of the earlier areas where cid takes you and you spot the soldiers in the forest. that entire area runs at 20fps and i honestly can't figure out why it runs so bad in comparison to the others.
I play at 1080p on a 4080 so i dont get any gameplay issues natively. Cut scenes need work tho
This game was ass on the PS5, and now it's ass on PC.
This game is big hairy ass in general.
There is a diss mod for deck that gets 50-60fps but cutscenes still stutter pretty bad
*DLSS
in my testing with a 4080 and an 11900k high settings dllss quality and frame gen im not seing much stuttering later on in the story, still see them during cut scenes but 95% of the time its smooth
Runs at 720p on PS5. Still doesn't really hit 60fps. That's why they made a PS5Pro huh? The customer has to pay for devs lazyness.
I ended up doing 30fps on PS5 play through because the performance mode would often dip below 40fps anyway.
Like every once Sony exclusive, the PC ports are garbage
Ponies and Their Pony Company hate PC and its Users don't they ..
Good thing this isn't a Sony game
God of War, Days Gone, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon : Forbidden West were all fine on release day.
That's on Square Enix and not Sony.
PC fanboys like you are stupid.
I never was the guy who pays attention to these kind of detail. It's annoying to me. I look at this, "is this playable?" If I can play it, despite having slight issues and it's fun, I really don't care.
It's very stuttering on my PC.

GPU : Nvidia RTX 4070

I am not having a good time with a decidedly worse PC, R5 5600 and 6650XT.

I lower my settings down and play on 1080p from 1440p and it's going nicely. It's annoying but it is what it is. I had the same problem with FF7R back when it was came out on EGS but it's not the same spec as my current PC.
It is what it is, the problem is solved. So far, the game is kinda boring. Too many cutscenes and pretty much, which 30 frames capped, dunno why this is the case but whatever. And it's pretty much a "Corridor RPG" game, not my cup of tea, honestly. I was expecting an open world but whatever.
4060 here, same with me stuttering on whatever settings, reso, etc. Found any solution?
After a year of Yoshida giving excuses and that they were working so hard on the PC version, it yet again was a lie.
Honestly after him being like 'Dawntrail is fine guys we're just starting a new arc thats all' im kinda just over pretending this guy is a genius
I know hes not allowed to smack talk his own product but it felt like twisting the knife
People keep blaming denuvo but I'd blame both shader compilation stutter and denuvo it also seems like there's texture streaming making it worse.
Another Game not to be touched till NeXT Year. There are just way way too many older games to complete that are fixed now. I don't understand why do they release if its not worth playing day 1? Not everyone has patience to replay a game released today every 6 month timeskip just to check if it's worth playing Start to Finish.
Yup. Especially since it comes with Denuvo. Let them bleed on the license fee
4080 Super/5800X3D here. Game has run pretty smooth for me so far. At 3440x1440 ultra, DLAA and frame gen I get anywhere from 90-110 FPS on average. Had to use a mod for ultrawide though 😣.
Update: Random drop to 30-40 FPS and abysmal performance….. Damn. Was really liking this game too. Refunding now 😂. Will probably pick it up again if the performance gets better in the future.
The game itself is amazing. I love the gameplay and it's story. But the fps dropped every hour, so I need to relaunch/restart the game after a while. 😢
runs fine for me on 4090 14900k and on a 4k I did not even use my monitor max res 7680x2160 I dropped it to 3840x2160 but in games like control 4k is playable but 4090 not so good at 7680x2160 since its closer to 8k but the games look so much better
I think the games fun but I will agree it was a stirring mess till I modded it with a fix the problem with the game is the frame rate cap is locked at 30 fps that's in cutscenes as well which can't handle to pixels on screen but with the ff16 mod fix it raises the cap to a smooth 60 maybe 120 depending on your pc that and it allows for frame rate generation in cutscenes making the strutting stop it dose it very little now and improves the game by alot also allows you to center Clive in the middle of the screen insted of having him on the left and allows for a better pov for walking around and lock on combat that can adjust to how you want it but yea games really good and fun you just need to mod it to enjoy it
Interesting. I have quite a bit different setup than you (Nvidia/Intel). I'm not getting any stutters in battle or exploration, but in towns the frametime is all over the place. No hard stutters for me though.

i was able to play this in 4K on my RTX 3070ti at the start then the game just started to tank later on, didnt matter what resolution i set it to or upscaling , square as shit at optimization
I have the same GPU (7900 XT + CPU 7700 non X + 32Gb RAM 5200Mhz) so now i know that the game runs like ass. There was a new driver beta from AMD that is supposed to have game support for XVI so maybe that helps a little bit.
Damn. Took me too long to get around to your product reviews. Good stuff here, I'll def. look for more of 'em!
I will use mods to help with the stuttering.
Download the latest GPU drivers please! They came out just SIX DAYS before the port released. I can also confirm the stutter goes away in the paid version.
