      I'm not experiencing any stuttering that affects my gameplay. If a frame graph is needed to see the stuttering, then it doesn't affect me.
      I'm running native res at 120fps. Yeah, there's some FPS dips and maybe some stuttering, but it doesn't happen frequently to be an issue. Or I just don't notice it.
      I still think Square Enix are horrible at PC Ports, but one thing I can say is FF7 Rebirth runs very well for me. Question for everyone claiming to have terrible stutters, did you skip shader caching? You can skip it if you're in a hurry, but you really shouldn't. Played the game both on a 4K TV and a 1440p monitor.

      @Marltiod to be fair, most people likely don't even check if their 144Hz monitor is actually properly setup to run at 144Hz or any Framerate above 60Hz and are disappointed, because they can't tell the difference.

    Frametime graphs are nice. But they don't mean sht in this review. I have seen worse performance from PC games! It almost seems like you want a excuse to complain. I can make your review much smaller. Is it a perfect PC port? No!....FSR? Framegen? It's UE4 and the game has UE4 problems. Wow! Surprise! I have seen MANY UE4 games have the exact same issues. The devs even stated that they are learning more about the engine and how to utilize it better in a interview. This port was better than remake and that lines up with what they said in the interview. Stop complaining over the little things! I have a RTX 3060 and a Ryzen 3600 and only really got stutters near the start. when that went by, it stopped and it has been smooth ever since on 1440P. Don't use Ultra setting for background unless you have a strong PC! I use high and works like a charm with minimal pop-in.

    Steam Deck verification primarily consists of UI and text input compatibility. If it can do that and run it tends to get a verified badge. Otherwise I'd look to protondb for a more nuanced look at how a game runs rather than the fairly low bar that Valve sets for verified status.

    What I found most interesting was a full picture blur when playing in 1440p, no matter what I tried the picture would always seem blurry to me. I had to switch to my 4K/60 monitor.

    Not sure if this is of much use for anyone, but I was originally getting pretty noticeable stutters upon the first boot of the game. I realized that setting the display tech setting to VRR in fact did not engage gsync, so any dropped frames would cause large frame time spikes. However, setting the it to VSYNC enabled gsync and reduced the frame time spikes overall. For context, in the NVCP I have gsync enabled, low latency set to “ultra” (which automatically caps the frame rate to below a certain threshold; 116fps on a 120hz screen in my case), and vsync enabled globally. Never had this happen in any other game but there you go. To further reduce frame time spikes I turned the background detail setting to high instead of ultra. This is on a rtx 4080 and R7 5800x3D system. It’s noticeably smoother since.

    • @hamedbalanar5127
      @hamedbalanar5127 11 дней назад +1

      so using VSync instead of VRR and enabling g-sync globally is what u saying?

    • @lorenzopena6898
      @lorenzopena6898 11 дней назад

      @Enable the following in the global setting in the nvidia control panel: gsync fullscreen only, low latency to “ultra”, and vsync set to “on”. Once in-game, set the display sync setting to “vsync” and I would also suggest dropping background detail to high or below.

    I have a 4070TI and an "old and cheap" 12600k and I haven't experienced any stutters yet. Compared to FF16, FF7 Rebirth runs like a wet dream.
    120 FPS in 2k native resolution with the highest settings WITHOUT Frame Gen and DLSS in a densely built-up city with 100 NPCs.
    I can only dream of such performance in FF16. In FF16 I have 60 FPS and less in 2k native max settings... on an empty meadow in a narrow level with no NPCs and FF7 Rebirth looks a lot better than FF16.
    That shows how much performance stuff like Denuvo and VM Protec are tanking...

I have an rtx 4060, and an amd ryzen 7 3700x. What helps is that I'm using dlss 4, and the patch 1.001 that improves the optimization. I also heard the 1.001 patch fixed most issues on the steam deck.

  • @DeanThomson
    @DeanThomson 12 дней назад +2

    This is actually there best port. I think this video has a bit of misinformation - it does work on Steamdeck using its hardware. But if you run it under Proton with an NVIDIA card currently it doesn't render a lot of the world correctly. This is actually due to a bug in the NVIDIA drivers which NVIDIA need to update at their end.
    As for stutter I didn't get any when running on Proton from the time I played with it. On a side note I decided to play it under Windows till the bug is fixed and the game is buttery smooth with everything on high/ultra using the ff7rebirthfix to get ultra widescreen at 5120x1440 on a 4080 super, using DLAA not DLSS and on a 9950x. The frame rate goes between 75-90fps most of the time. Sometimes in the 100s - but I'm rendering 2 x 2560x1440 displays here at once :)

      no, they actually run on high tier nividia hardware. i have a 4090 and a 7950x3D and for me, it runs almost completly stutter free.
      friend of mine has a 3090 and a 5800x3D and for him, it's not as smooth.
      problem here is, that ppl with hardware below the top tier specs, should actually lower some settings, to match their hardware, but most ppl somehow don't want to do that, hence why their experience is bad. they said optimal would be a 4080 rtx card, before the games release. everything below that, if you want a smoother experience, you will have do go lower with the settings.
      once my friend with the 3090 tried to do max resolution 100% and min resolution 67% or what that set setting is, it ran way smoother for him, with DLSS that is.
      they could've optimized it still a bit better, cause that is always possible, but if you run something like a 3070, you just can't expect to run maxed out everything. that's not how PC works.
      i'm waiting for the DF analysis, where we'll see multiple systems running it, and in detail.
      i mean it's crazy to think that alexx here on an AMD card, has such a bad time, even if it's a strong AMD card, when the game was programed for a full on AMD system, which the PS5 is. i would've expected it to run a wee bit better on AMD graphics cards, but, that's the sad reality or PC games, 80% of day one games, just don't run all that well, except if you run the beafiest system, and you power trough the issues.

    I really hope square enix will fix the performance issues with patches. The blurriness is a big issue for me. Also, the stutters from moving the camera around. Next there is terrible performance in all towns and small farms. If not Nvidia on their end from my understanding will offer the same feature which generates frames without the game needing to be compatible in either some later driver or current driver. Have to activate this feature on your drivers software or through the overlay.

    Wait, you mean to say that no hardware currently out can brute force the game into stability? The optimization is that bad?! As it’s not like you have basic or mid range hardware. You have high end hardware. A Ryzen 7 7700x and RX 7900XT is a potent combination after all. What brand do you have for your GPU? If I bought AMD, I’d go for a Sapphire card, with MSI and Gigabyte as secondary and tertiary options. As if I’m not mistaken, Sapphire is to AMD, what EVGA was to Nvidia.

    I’ve been doing some testing and here’s my conclusions. Running the game on a 4k LG C3 OLED (mentioning bc I think it’s helping with the res scaling) on a 7800x3d/7900xt system.
    I’m not experiencing near the amount of stutters that you are but the worst performance I get is running 4k native, VRR selected for display sync technology. There are occasional dips into high 30s, low 40s when in Nidelhiem. But it’s mostly 60+ fps experience at high preset, TAA, and ultra background model detail (this setting almost eliminated all pop in). Gets as high as 80s to 90s in some areas. Setting the resolution scale to 66% actually looks really good on my tv. I have a theory that LGs tech is helping here bc it’s REALLY hard to tell the difference between native and 66% on my 4k tv. Performance drastically increases to 90-120 fps consistently. Some dips but nothing too jarring.
    Actual preferred setting is 4k native, high preset, VRR, frame cap to 60, low fog, ultra background model detail, and turn on AFMF2. With the frame cap at 60, AFMF 2 locks my gps to 120. Frame rate stays locked to 120 too. Very smooth gameplay and almost all but eliminates the dips and looks exceptional. My frame graphs are SOLID. I wish I could post pics here to show, but imo if you have an AMD card, use afmf2 in this title along with capping at half your monitors refresh. Much more enjoyable experience.
