- Playing through the mission Xen Attacks in the fanmade PC port of Half-Life: Decay. Also includes a look at an Easter egg in the level.

Marphy I just want to point out something I recently discovered: the two Vortigaunts in this Decay mission are the SAME two Vortigaunts encountered by Adrian Shephard in "The Package" chapter of Opposing Force when he took control the mortar. It also took place the same time as HL1's "Nihilanth" chapter. Notice the familiar parking garage?
Basically, this bonus mission is meant to reveal what were the last two Vortigaunts in OpFor doing on BM when most of the Nihilanth troops like Vortigaunts, Alien Grunts, Controllers all disappeared on Earth since "Crush Depth" chapter. I believe Gearbox didn't made this bonus mission for no reason. There's a small undiscovered crossover plot here and it requires new investigation.

@@dealx Actually, Shephard only sees Gordon and a dead Gina in Xen.
I would like to point out that gina cross was found dead in opposing force in under water area in xen you can access that area by using the displacer in the area before the garage section maybe they attempt to telport out of black mesa after the end of decay but it went terribly wrong and the whole team ended up going to xen with no way to go back and they all die there and that explains why we don't see any of the decay characters in hl2

All right, let's see what I bring to the table: I was a beta tester for this mod and I'm listed in the credits, meaning I played and provided feedback for this map long before you even had the chance to post your video. The other Vortigaunt player in this video is actually the mod developer who ported and fixed this level. I am also the creator of the sound and animation used in the Easter egg.

I think this is the best level in Decay.
The 'Xen Attacks' Mission of the PC Port is not 100% accurate. It lacks the Vortigaunt fishbowl view and the clearly faster running speed from the original Decay PS2 Version.
I've played the ps2 version and I'm not sure if you're actually meant to be faster or if it is just an illusion from the extremely high fov (and fishbowl). Also on ps2 you are able to regain health from damaging boxes, crates and other destructable objects (probably faulty scripting). We always used these to get health back before we encountered the assassins. With small energy bursts every box is an infinite supply of HP.
+ According to gameplays I saw from the PS2 version some hallways were changed and they added some rooms that weren't originally there.

Yes, it was thieves. Nihilanth was referring to those humans (also G-Man included) who stole those Xen crystals.

It's a the nilanth telepathically talking to the characters and what he is saying is either "comes another" and " you are man he is not man for you he waits for you

I laughed at 2:33 when whoever the player was starting attacking the dead scientist. I have decay but it's far too annoying to play alone with having to switch between characters manually. Hopefully I can convince one of my friends to play with me, I'm a big Half-Life fan.

Hey, the mod of being a vortigaunt is a cheat for half-life ps2
The song that plays in the secret room (whl1.wav) is missing from the install.
The authors decided not to include the sound file in the final release for copyright reasons.
