  • Both my Cioccolatino & Rojo Brillante have lots of fruit forming, but equally a lot of fruit drop. In this video I wanted to address why this happens!

    Wow, it's great to see so many persimmons setting on your trees, Joe! Looks like you will get an abundant harvest this year 🤞

      Thanks Peter,
      I’m hoping that they will be very sweet, but that all depends on our summer. July so far has been a bit hit and miss ⛈️ ☀️

    That's definitely a crazy amount of fruit Joe, I see a lot will need to be removed 😱

      I can’t believe the amount still on the tree. I’ll wait until I feel the tree has stopped dropping fruit, then I’ll do some thinning 😃

    I love persimmon - it never occurred to me to try to grow it in London. Amazing!

      @@joestropicals6760 thanks! After wanting one for years, I just purchased my first fig tree, hence my coming across your channel! Let's see if that survives 🥲

      @@lysduchamp figs can do really well here. They just need to be in a nice sunny, sheltered location to thrive 🙌🏾

    My fuyu persimmon is blooming and setting fruit. I have never seen a small tree put on so many blooms and fruit. When should I thin it? There's no way this fruit can all develop, it will tear the tree to the ground. I don't want to have my tree harmed. There isn't an inch between fruit. I never thought that I would see this many fruit on one tiny tree. My tree is barely over waist high and i would guess over 100+ fruit. How do I suspend the branches so they don't break?

    where did you purchase the green looking screen surrounding the base of the tree? is there a name for it?

      Hi @claudettelp, I’m so sorry I can’t remember where I purchased. I may of bought it from Homebase as garden fencing and cut it out to go around the base of my trees.

    Do the persimmon trees bear non-astringent fruit? How old is the choccolatino? it's so pretty. Love the garden rock house. Do you know what its purpose was when it was first built?

    • @joestropicals6760
      @joestropicals6760  Год назад +1

      Hi @sheri0837, thank you. These are the astringent variety. The Cioccolatino is over 6 years old. The out building is a world war 2 Anderson shelter 😃

      @@joestropicals6760 wow, a lot of history there. I hear the astringent kind are easier to grow. I'm looking forward to a Saijo, an astringent too, coming in the winter.

      @@joestropicals6760 might be like jiro fuyu, seedless varieties tend to drop tons of fruit I'm having massive drop right now. last season only 7 held on to full maturity :')
