    You're trees are beautiful! 😍
I hope you get alot of fruit this year. I have a Nakita's gift about 4 years old. It's loaded with flower buds this year. Hoping for fruit but I know they can loose them all when young.

Pay attention to the roots and 4ft radius around the center roots. they get same water and nutrients just as center roots. Use osmocote 10-10-10 and bone meal around there. Keep that area moist and it will keep the fruits for you. If possible you can use manure but a little at a time.

I recently purchased a Nikita‘s gift and upon arrival it had eight fruits the following day it was left with just one fruit hanging. I was informed whenever stressed especially during delivery they will drop their fruits

cross pollinate it with a different persimmon variety by grafting a branch on it.

Is this tree waking up earlier than the others in your yard? It looks like it's getting more sun. The first flush of growth on most of my fruit trees is always a bit more beat up (freezes, frosts, wind, hail, pests) than the mid- and late-summer flushes.

Try treating the tree with an annual root application of Imidacloprid. It's a synthetic nicotine that travels through the plant for a year. With persimmon it only requires 6 days of no-harvesting & controls aphids, lace bug, leafhoppers, & whiteflies. My banana & citrus plants act as if it's a nitrogen fertilizer as well.

read somewhere that seedless persimmons, parthenocarpic fruit, will drop at a higher rate than if they are pollinated and make seed. same happens to issai kiwi without a pollinator. will get fruit on my vine but most will drop. i dont have space for a male persimmon so will just have to take what my tree will produce lol

Mine every year the leaves gets black, and it all get full of little dots, like bug eggs on it, but it is inside of the leaves, and I can't find any bug or egg in it, any help?? Thanks😊

I have the same theory. I believe stinkbugs are the reason. You can even notice recent stings, but shortly after stinging the fruit dries up and falls down.
Since stinkbugs are one of the hardiest of the bugs, pesticide spraying has little effect and introduced only downsides.
This year, I am combating the stinkbugs and other bugs with fine fruit nets that are tight around the fruits and hoping this will limit the drop.

Psyllid really attacked my yonka as well to the point I thought it was going to die. My bigger trees didn't really seem to be bothered by them as much perhaps they really like that variety. My yates was put in ground in 2017 at 4 foot tall and I still have not tasted a fruit. Between not even flowering the first few years ,fruit drop, late frost, and opossums I have not harvested a single fruit, this year its holding on to about 20 fruits so it might happen fingers crossed.

My theory. Each year roots generate a certain amount of growth hormone. By removing central leader which would go for height it is being sent to side branches. There, hormone competition between growth or fruiting ensues and fruiting loses. Try pruning new tip growth on some branches and see if they hold fruit.

    • @johnmcclure2912

Plants set fruit when they are under environmental stress. That's their evolutionary way of moving to a new location. Hence the growth hormone toxicity. Also try partial girdling a sacrificial branch to hold it's fruit.

Planting fuyu persimmon tree this year getting flowers but the tips of leaves are black is this to much sun or water or compost?

    • @RossRaddi
      @RossRaddi  3 года назад +2

Sounds like a water issue. Either too much or too little.

Thanks Ross,, I just noticed yesterday that my third year tree is dropping small nickel sized fruit. I just thought it had too much fruit on it to support. I didnt notice any leaf problems but I will take a look, take a picture and send it to you.

I’m in Rhode Island zone 6B, 4 years ago after watched your videos I purchased the same persimmon tree and the last two years I have the same problems. Last year about 80% dropped and right now is August 7 2022 I have about 70% dropped, and my Fuyu persimmon only a handful of fruits left on the tree 😔

You need to prune in winter, upright style like an apple or pear. Mid summer prune all the water shoots. Sounds like you and this RUclipsr have too much reproduction then the young tree can handle then by mid summer too much energy is being sent to grow the shoots, a double whammy.

That tree may be too happy! Has no reason to produce fruit. Like you and your siblings. You all were likely fed nearly the same meals but had slightly different tastes, so your eating habits were different. I would strongly reduce the "N" and do some heavy pruning if she was mine.

I have Rosseyanka for 6 years now, I have 2 trees, every spring this problem is present. The guy from the nursery said its a Rosseysnka thing, a hormonal dispute, it doesnt occur to other hybrids like Nikita's gift or Sosnovska or Mont Hoverla.I've been told its the first 3 years that this should happen and not to worry, but the tree produced last yearvits first fruit, from almost 100 blooms...frustrating,isnt'it?!I sprayed it in winter when dormant with a copper based fungicide and the problem is still there, i think in the plants DNA...I dont know why I bother,Asian persimmons like Tsm Kam, Saijo,Jiro or Rojo Brillante fruit very nice every year, its a very complicated hybrid this Rosseyanka, but soooo tasty and aromatic.Cheers!

That tree has too many branches, trimming will help, the branches are too thin can't support the fruit. Trim, trim, trim.
