- With a former major leaguer as a father, and a slew of cousins and uncles who played the game, Dee Gordon was pretty much destined to become a baseball player. Except he kept resisting, and was almost tempted to pursue playing college basketball. But eventually, Gordon relented and fulfilled his destiny. Now he’s one of the best young infielders in baseball. VICE Sports sat down to talk with Gordon about his journey to becoming an All Star.

***** I can't believe the Dodgers traded him. I remember watching him not get a lot of playing time with the Dodgers and the little he did play you could tell he was going to be a great player. I was absoultley shocked when they traded him. I'm a long time Giants fan and was hoping we could pick him up, but for whatever reason we like giving contracts to washed up greats way past their prime. Any idea why the Dodgers didn't keep him?
***** he's great with his glove, improved his batting AVG last year, and whenever he gets walked or singles, he can end up in scoring position.

Why does vice try and paint a picture that this kid grew up poor by showing all those shitty houses of where his extended family lived in the beginning? His dad played for the damn Yankees....and his grandma has a mansion which is who he ACTUALLY lived with. There are normal sized players. A majority of athletes in the big three sports are of above average size. That's just because of the abilities that come with being bigger. But I get your point, steroids are prevalent in baseball.
BHammer the majority of baseball players are close to this size honestly. Yes the game has gotten a rep for juicers but the vast majority of guys are clean. I've heard estimates that only on 9/10 of baseball players never even try to use PED's anymore
